The Day The Blogs Put The World Straight!

Ching.
Ching, ching.
Clink.
The sound of pennies dropping is almost deafening.
A good night’s rest has brought about a welcome drop in the collective blood pressure of Gooners and those who were not long ago writing of the Cesc transfer as a done deal. I’m not saying it won’t happen here, but I do think it took the blogs to point out to those who were quick to jump to conclusions that it is far from inevitable. I’m not blowing my own trumpet there either. Most part-time Arsenal correspondents were making pretty much the same points that sunk in with their peers today.
Personally, I have also been thinking about all those claims that everybody wants Cesc ‘back’ at Barcelona, and chuckling. I can think of one poor idiot who must be wishing he had never gone into print with his feelings about Arsenal’s captain.
Now I expect Isaiah has been disowned by the Barca faithful and they are writing their welcome speeches, don’t you? Think again.
So, it would appear there isn’t a problem. We don’t want Arsenal to sell him, and the Barca fans don’t want their club to extend their crippling debt to buy him.
That’s what I call a result!
Don’t get me wrong. I still think it is fifty-fifty whether or not Cesc gets his wish, but it isn’t nailed-on, and we should relax and have a bit of fun with it, don’t you think?

It would be rude not to have a quick drink before the night.
Cheers Sir ‘holic.
How do you say bankrupt in Catalan?
Yeah, it is strange in that it’s a move that doesn’t really make sense for anyone:
— Doesn’t make sense for Arsenal to sell their captain, best player, and top playmaker.
— Doesn’t make sense for Barca to spend that much money on a guy who probably won’t start.
— Doesn’t make sense for Cesc to leave a club where he’s an automatic in every team sheet for a club where he isn’t.
And I still think there’s a less than 50/50 shot that it happens, just because Wenger will absolutely dig his heels in on this one, I think.
Also, for what it’s worth, while Isaiah’s post accusing Cesc of diving and trying to get Puyol sent off (for the crime of falling down when he, you know, BROKE HIS LEG) was incredibly profane, inappropriate, and ill-informed, he did put up a later post moderating his views quite a bit. And Kxevin’s post is actually pretty reasonable — he tells Arsenal fans, Barca fans, and the Spanish media alike to shut up, his main point was just that he was tired of all the speculation over the story. I didn’t buy his “we don’t ‘tap-up'” argument, but other than that I thought it was a solid read.
But as you point out, I’m not sure whether it’s a cause for celebration or despair, but the blogs have been by far the voice of reason on this, while the mainstream media have sensationalized it for all they’re worth.
There is life after Cesc they say.
Its not the the fact thats hes leaving its the fact i know Wenger will be too pig-headed and stubborn to “splash” the sufficent cash to get a “world-class” replacement. I hope he proves me wrong.
The funniest thing is that Barca’s attitude seems to be “We’ll take him if we can get him cheap.”
Which I suppose makes sense. Given the make up of their team at the moment, they don’t NEED to shell out a ton of money for Cesc. However, Arsene has been building a team around the kid for several years, so he’s worth a ton of money to Arsenal because they’d need that money to rework the team. Many other clubs who lack what he offers would happily pay out the arse for him, so the idea that Barca gets a discount because Cesc wants to go there is simply ludicrous.
Oh dear Daniel.
Please accept this in the spirit in which it is offered.
“its the fact I know”
Those words do not belong there.
Oh oh it’s just a conspiracy so the tabloids can sell in this “crunch”, at least until the World Cup starts.
I don’t get a couple of things…they just find excuses now, the barca twats, 1. We’ll like him but it’s all up to Arsenal FC if they want to sell him. (So yeah..hum..let’s think that a bit..)
2. The last one..we’re in debt almost 300 millions euros..and we just buy a new striker for 30 millons..oo ooo let’s buy fabregas because he was a junior at barca! go go go …hum..
Sorry ‘holics I just had half, yeah half, of pint, and somehow I managed to get drunk..must by the spring air:))
[…] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Ben, Shin Ryujin and Paul Camden, Goonerholic. Goonerholic said: The Day The Blogs Put The World Straight http://goonerholic.com/?p=2454 Barca don't even want him! […]
Regarding the Barca blog articles.. doesn’t those comments sound just like ones of a fatty girl after a wild night who woke up all in the whole JLS’s spunk and now brags about it like, oh them, him, just a lad, I don’t need him anyway, I’m too fit!
‘Holic, be gentle with him (Daniel) – there are many sensitive Gooners out there just now.
I just posted on the last blog, so will repeat it here though – why does Cesc want his future sorted out if he has 4 years of a contract remaining?
I think this means that clubs are haggling over a price. I of course could just have a very half empty glass…..
Speaking of which, mines is a Boddingtons ‘Holic.
The only thing that worries me is the lack of denial from either party except PWH, usually when there are rumours flying about Wenger and or Fabregas put everyone straight.
Considering the claim that Fabregas had ‘showdown talks’ and still no denial does make me wonder.
Still i don’t think it will happen not for a couple of summers yet
Would it be fair to say (as was mentioned yesterday on the drinks) that the entire economic landscape/power structure of European football is changing completely as we speak? Traditional methods of spend spend spend have at last pulled the final rug out from the biggest club names in Europe. The Fabregas situation is but a part of the entire house of cards – the piece I’ve been confident about for some time is that when the house comes crashing down (the roof is already off) Arsenal will be one of the best positioned clubs not just in England but in Europe overall.
Clubs buying players with money they don’t really have is in keeping with the world economic situation at present. The good news ? Arsenal are all set to be China. I’ll eat my Cesc hat in 2013 if I’m wrong.
Great blog as ever ~ one man doesn’t make a club. I hope he stays – though I think we have a better league campaign next season either way which ultimately should be our real concern.
I think there’s another angle to consider as well. I.e., whilst many Gooners rate Cesc as among the world’s very, very best, he’s really not. He’s very, very good, yes. But he’s too inconsistent, especially within games. He can go from a guy who can’t pass to one who splits defences. (His pass completion rate is barely much above 50%.) He also lacks pace. I guess what I’m saying, is that in the gooner world, he is rather over-rated. That’s why he can’t get into the Spanish team ahead of Xavi, Iniesta and Silva (and until recently Senna) – and of course why he won’t do more than warm the bench at Barce for some time. Also, where has he ever come in european and world football polls/awards?
I’m not saying I don’t want to keep him, I really do. But more for his commitment, attitude and role as captain, than for his (replaceable) abilities. It’s a bit laughable how he wins so many player of the month/player of the year awards when there are actually others in the team performing better, more consistently. Interestingly, if you look at the team’s results from August 2008 to April 2010, you’ll see that the overall numbers of wins/draws/losses are virtually the same (in fact fractionally better) without cesc as opposed to with him. [OK, I’m ignoring the last six games of this season, due to the fact that so many others were also missing and the Cesc factor is difficult to separate out there. But, my point remains – he’s not the be all and end all some gooners would have us believe.]
I do think he’ll stay (by club orders), probably for just one more season, and I do hope so. But if the wonderful hype created by gooners is to be useful, it will be in pushing up the price to an acceptable level, so that when he goes we’ll make more than he’s actually worth. ยฃ80m would do nicely….
Has anyone noticed how the Chamakh deal seems to have vanished into oblivion? Or has he signed and its a done deal? Has he taken his toys and gone back to France? I was in New Zealand this week and all they write, think and talk of in the shakey isles is the “All Blecks” and that stupid oval ball game so I mighta missed it.
Could it be that Chamakh has decided if there is no CF, there is no MC? Or is that fanciful?
Its very early in the morning here on the Gold Coast, but a dawn breaker of a Khalua in my coffee would get the heart working – please ‘holic
No way Wenger can possibly let Fabregas go. He just signed a long term contract, are those things worthless now..Fabregas is a grown up man (not a homesick crybaby) and will honour Wengers wishes as a man. Why have contracts if they can not be enforced?
Excellent find `Holic, I really dig this blog. I’ll add it to my list of entertainment blogs, I have a couple of RM and AC Milan blogs I read occasionally, in particular I love reading the comments on the AC Milan ones with all the disgruntled glory hunters pissed off at Clownusconi not spending a dime anymore ๐
That being said they’re not representative of the Barca fandom though (although I’m sure there’s plenty of catalan and spanish glory hunters too) as they look at Cesc the same way Italian gooners look at Wilshere if you see what I mean.
Mitch,
I don’t know what player you are talking about here.
Fabregas’s pass rate is well above 50%.
He does not lack pace. Do you remember when he scored against Villa this year by keeping up with Walcott ?
And, yes, our season pretty much collapsed when he was injured.
gaz,
It hasn’t. ๐
I think Cesc said ‘…before the world cup’ to avoid this situation, ie. ‘wait for my decision’ – which would have been ‘I’ll stay and honour my contract, now leave it alone for 4 years’ BUT we yet again display, as fans, as a nation, through insulting his sister on her twitter page and idiot explayers (whom I’d never thought I’d dislike but do now, Paul and Ian) saying AFC is a sinking ship and Cesc should break his contract to go. This is the most vile and sordid it has ever been, Titi and Paddy rolled into one times two – the blogs, journos and posters have been hysterical, making stuff up. The Online Gooner, as ever, has been a gold standard for miserable, negative cunts across the land…still posting today as if he has already gone. Pathetic, just like football has become, a vortex of greed, bullies, shallowness and broken contracts…propagated by the spanish and english media, a bunch of fat, thick, untalented children, winding up the thick, gulible retards at the OG and other blogs – higlighting the fact that neat racism is still a major driver in football in this country…Wenger, Benetez, Zola…all constant targets.
Barca cant afford Cesc. We want to keep him. He is happy at the club. Fuck off Fergie, fuck off Sky sports, fuck off the Sun, fuck of Fat Sam, fuck off Online Gooner, fuck off Leporta, fuck off…ffffff – k off!!!
Brilliant Andy.
That response has been suggested elsewhere today.
Just say those two words to everybody ๐
Holy hell, that Isiah muppet sure wins the prize for Idiot of the Year.
Mitch, you are plain wrong about Cesc’s passing rate. It is WAY above 50% and he does not lack pace at all. Or did he really look that slow when he outran the entire Everton defence before scoring the fourth goal on the opening day of this season? Did he look slow when he single-handedly humiliated half of the Spurs team in the Eleven Second Derby? Or when he outran the entire Villa team to score his second goal in that game?
That should be made into a t-shirt in time for the Emirates Cup
“Barca cant afford Cesc. We want to keep him. He is happy at the club. Fuck off Fergie, fuck off Sky sports, fuck off the Sun, fuck of Fat Sam, fuck off Online Gooner, fuck off Leporta, fuck offโฆfuck off”
I can see it on an XXL for me, Tim, but others would struggle like it was a Vennegoor of Hessellink shirt ๐
My, my Andy….seems the blood pressure is up this morning (oops evening). Hope the missus gets the benefit of your unbrideled passion ๐
How true your comments are however. “This is the most vile and sordid it has ever been”….couldn’t agree more. It shows the total shambles modern football has sunk to as the virus of the modern world – greed – infects all aspects of the game we love.
If Arsenal insist, Cesc will be ‘happy to stay’. He has said so himself not too long ago thus leaving himself the room to muanuvere where he doesn’t lose face but hoping a deal could be reached allowing him to return home. It’s up to Arsenal.
Glad to see ยฃ80 million being bantered about. Thought we could of got more for every top player we sold since 2004. The problem with Arsenal is they know the price of everything & the value of nothing.
Forget Uefa & their stupid rules. Stupid because they never seem to enforce them especially against Real Madrid & Barca. And when they did show some backbone (Uefa/Fifa) Chelsea got it overturned. So I wouldn’t rely on them to much.
When the season starts, & Cesc is in a Arsenal shirt, Arsenal should look for the eveidence & finally get Barca ‘done’ for ‘tapping up’. But then they’d probably get any punishment overturned.
Don’t you just get sick of this charade every summer. I’m sure it’s of a bigger picture. That the hacks don’t like foriegner’s in the english game.
Muppet/Lars
The passing rates I looked up were the opta ones – for each year fifty something per cent. As to pace, he comes well down the list over the timed 40 metre sprints in training. (Walcott first, Vela second, Traore third.) The villa game, he’d come on near the end and was a fresh substitute against tired legs. Your other examples Lars, well, anyone can look fast when the opposition is standing still! (I note, guys, you didn’t pick meuponanyofmy other points.)
Look, I’m not rubbishing him, just saying he’s been made out to be a god, when he’s merely a very talented mortal. Therefore, we should get a perspective and see his faults too. He’s a gooner and one with attitude, and I love him enough for those two reasons alone. We need him to stay this year. His loss could have a serious effect on the squad. I believe he will stay and we’ll win the title. It will be interesting to see what he does then.
Steve T: BtM coined the term last season in reaction to the AKB labelling (correct me if I’m wrong), it means the Boo and Bleat Brigade. By NO MEANS I intend to associate you with them, it’s just that it was disgusting to see these ignoramusses insult Arsene for lengthening the contracts, it’s the same braindead who were howling when Flamini left on a free while the year before they wanted him to leave.
Cesc (like almost anyone else at the club now) is contractually tied until 2014 or 2015 depending where you read it. I’m not disagreeing with what you’re saying on contracts in general but with 5 years left on his contract and being only 23 Cesc does not have a strong bargaining power like Hleb did. And remember Paddy had been linked with Real for 2 or 3 years in a row and Arsene managed to keep them at bay, there’s nothing in the current situation that prevents him from doing that again. Worst case we’ll get a sweet deal to soften the blow if he leaves. That’s a huge improvement compared to 2 years ago. I just want to stress the point for all the forgetful that don’t see how the club is bettering itself.
As for communication, I’m a firm believer Arsenal should act as if nothing happened because:
– In the end it has all the chances of being a non-story that does not deserve any press release, it will be much easier to deny and forget afterwards if there was no official record.
– It lets Barcelona hang the noose around their own neck with all their tapping up, they’re trying to be cautious about it publicly but the more it lasts the more likely they’ll step too far.
– Every time the club will communicate, the content will be drowned and distorted and instead of being buried, the story will resurface generating way too tension around it.
– On the other end, the less we give the media to chew, the faster they’ll move on (to Torres and Ribery).
– We are on the loosing end of a shouting contest, the entire Spanish press is behind the move and probably the majority of the British media too. As they say around here “Anything you say can and will be used against you”.
– We do not want to give Cesc or Barca anything to hang on to. That was a huge mistake we did with both Flamini and Hleb, once the war of words started, they both claimed the club failed them and postured as having the moral high ground.
In the end it’s a lose-lose situation, the club has nothing to gain by communicating this early.
Andy: top drawer that comment!
Maybe we sell Cesc for ยฃ45 million…and then bring him back in two years for ยฃ25 million as Barca will need the money by then to stay afloat….
La Liga is in a bad way…..
We still get Cesc for his best seasons….it’s a win-win
*I’d be good with this plan if they take Fabianski too…
The problem with all of this is that there is so much shite posted about the media that no one knows what is true and what isn’t. But as I pointed out in the last blog, I do think there is a bigger picture. (Matt, I did respond by the way). Cesc has made his comments. I think we all know that one day he is likely to end up back in Spain. It is just a case of when. What I want to know is why now? Has he really said to Wenger that he wants to leave now? My guess is that he has, purely as it is such a massive statement to make. If there were no truth in the matter then surely a firm statement rebutting the comments is all that is required?
Assuming then that he has asked to go then that begs the question, why? Why does he want to leave? His love of his home nation and he wants to go home? Or is there more to it. It is that that worries me. Why would our captain who all season has said exactly the right things now decided that he wants to leave?
I have no doubt that the will he wont he saga will continue for some time yet. But as I said, I think this raises all sorts of other issues that stand to get way out of hand if not dealt with swiftly and firmly.
Cheers for that Matt. I thing that we sing from the same song sheet most of the time.
XXL T shirt for me please. With some of that wonderful 6X if there is some still floating around?
Cesc will go. Maybe not now. But he’ll go. I don’t want him to but he will, just the way others have gone before him.
I feel at the moment the same foreboding I did when it was clear that Liam Brady was going to leave, when Henry was going to leave, when Viera decided to move on.
Cesc will go and when he does, he’ll take with him my deep felt thanks for his service to the cause, his passion for the challenge and his spirit for the game. Cesc is a legend and will still be a legend when he’s gone.
But we’ll still be here, still gooners, still fans. Arsenal will still be here. Still winning, still successful and still playing the beautiful game.
Unlike the pricks that would happily demean Cesc and his family. If you’re one of them and your reading this, do me a favour and kiss my hairy bits!
and a big thumbs up to Andy B for his rant
But why do we continue to read these *hem* publications which peddle this nonsense
Mitch, then we have seen different stats. And I don’t agree with much of the rest of your original post either, by the way ๐
MJM. We read them because we all have this slight fear that he may well leave and we have heard nothing from anyone to say otherwise. I do not see a problem with the club issuing a statement saying that Cesc is not for sale and will not be sold for any price during this transfer period. Do you not think that sends out a strong message from the club that we will not tolerate such behavoiur and that we will not be dictated to? Quite frankly if that turns out to be not what Mr Fabregas or his agent wants to hear then tough. He has 4 years remaining on his contract and should be reminded of the fact.
Steve T: Just to confirm my point, Barca is pushing hard to do the dirty laundry in public (that is if you want to belive another groundless report): http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/20/cesc-fabregas-barcelona-arsenal
For sure if Cesc were to say publicly he wants to leave that would surely make Arsene’s life much harder of a sudden.
The conclusion is good though: “Barcelona’s initial hope of being able to strike a deal for ยฃ30m has been greeted with derision in north London”. I wonder what Cesc himself will think of that valuation…
Been watching Arsenal for a number a joyous years. What seemed a bit worrying to me this season was our lack of total commitment the cause and passion from a significant number of players, with the exception of Cesc, RVP and Sol (amazingly considering the journeymans last 12 months). In the past we’ve had a fighting spirit throughout our teams, which was absent during the last couple of seasons. Injuries took their toll, but something in the mix is not quite right. The possible loss of Cesc will be demoralising, but not fatal. Instilling a fighting spirit along with our total football is just as important, and will prove to be one of the major challenges next season.
Cesc can do a Vieira: I was away in another country with no signal, its all propaganda. Arsenal, on the other hand, have played things very shrewdly. Blogs and yourself have put a much more sensible prospective on things. Large red please…
Steve: Are you against selling Cesc at any price this summer? I think that’s the heart of the issue. I’m an admirer of Cesc (the man and the player) and I think it would be a mistake for him to move to Barca career-wise, at least for now. BUT if we get enough cash, it could turn out to be a really good move for Arsenal in the end. Given the price Barca is ready to pay for 28yo players (Ibra, Villa) we can milk them really hard. If there’s any truth to the ยฃ80m counter-offer it’s clear our club is thinking along those lines.
And the man from the back row may have it right…
What arsenal should do is ask for 60m but cash. Barcelona are well known to want to spread payments. This would BLOW them out of the water with their tails between their legs they cannot afford him
Matt. My view is that if he does not want to play for us then there’s the door. Shut it on your way out. This evening I have just renewed my season ticket. It renew regardless of who plays next season. Cesc, along with almost the whole of the squad earns more in a week than I earn in a year. I have little time for pampered footballers who seem to think that they have a hard time of it all.
If he wants to go then as I said before, I want to know why he wants out. Is he now homesick? Or are there other reasons? That would concern me more than him leaving.
My view is different form most it would seem in that I do think he owes us. He owes the club and the manager. His development is down to Arsenal. Had he stayed at Barca he would have struggled to get a game and would probably have been sold to a smaller club at the age of 19/20. I do not think he would have been half the player he is now if he had stayed. We have showed considerable faith in him. We sold Vieira to bring him through. He was given an 8 year contract and then the armband. I am sure he has been involved in many a conversation about the club’s future and most centred around him being a part of it. So. as I said, what has changed his mind?
Matt, if he goes he goes. I will be there regardless. But I want to know why he wants out. And if he stays can he stay as captain?????
Steve: Congrats on your season ticket! I wish you all the best next season ๐
I agree with you that he owes us. But if we part graciously with a huge transfer bounty this is as good a way of repaying us than staying one or two seasons more.
And I have no problem guessing why he is tempted to move, he’s always said Guardiola was his idol, Barca is riding the crest of the wave, there’s a lot of “friendly” pressure around him (even more so given that he’s been in Spain for 2 months recovering) etc.
Look we all knew he will leave one day, he said it himself enough times.
You seem very upset about it, presenting the issue as a black-and-white matter. It seems to me that Cesc has one foot in each camp and loves both Arsenal and Barca. He earns more in a week than both of us make in a year but that doesn’t make him less human.
This just in:
The EU has stepped in and Spain is going to get a 19B bailout to start with in hopes that they turn into another Greece. It’s just a preventative measure but it could snowball and it’s the start of the country going broke and having to owe the IMF and EU a boatload of money.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/10134734.stm
I hope Cesc likes playing for free because that could very well be all Barca can afford to pay him if the authorities call in their IOUs.
I’m wait for this News, barcelona have many good midfielder so where Pep will put Cesc? how about exchange xavi with Cesc? ( silly questions)
I agree with Steve T and Matt. If Cesc wanst to go, let him go but make sure we get our money’s worth. I would only be upset if somehow we get less than 40M for him. The bigger worry for me is Wenger. Will he buy and buy well. The likes of Arshavin is also not long term and he must now plan for the future but more importantly, he must convince us that he wants to win the Premier League. This is what I see missing.
Stephane M’Bia from Marseille for 16 million pounds (speculation in today’s Daily Mail): Good deal?
How ironic is it that a blogger who has squirmio Buscunts in his team is talking about diving….
Pires to Philadelphia? Now it’s silly season…..
i start watching Arsenal because of Cesc Fabregas.
but now im starting to dislike him because of Arsenal.
This incident vanishes my love for him.
I dont know, the way he confesses his “desire” to return to Spain just saddens me.
I hate those players kissing the Arsenal badge this season then leave the club in the next season. It shows no respect to the club in my opinion.
I wonder why Arsenal becomes such a club, players think they can leave or go whenever they want.
anyway even if he does leave, I will still wish him good in the future, but no more than that.
PS the chamakh deal should be done. I hope chamakh hasnt stopped it and decides to wait for Cesc’s decision. lol
No.32 and if/when he goes he’ll still be a GOONER FAN just like Henry andVieira! Hopefully later rather than sooner
Has anyone seen what man city and chelski are prepared to pay for milner 30 million so what does that make cesc worth? Think he needs to stay for 2 more yearsand by that stage Ramsey will be able to relace him as long as he recovers from his leg break.
Just found this: does anyone know how reliable this blogger is?
http://clockenders.com/afc/?p=4578
have just received a very interesting telephone call from a senior Arsenal employee regarding Cesc.
Bullet Points :
* No bid has been received from Barca
* Cesc is not for sale
* Cesc does not want to leave
When pressed about why there has been no official AFC response to these ongoing rumours, they trotted out the well worn โwe do not comment on transfer speculationโ response. Wenger and Cesc have not even been in the same country at any point over the past week for the supposed meeting to take place.
Matt. My point was simply this. If he wants to leave then why? Is it because he wants to go home etc? If yes then fine. Thanks a lot for everything and the huge transfer fee. But, if that is not the case and he wants out for any other reason then that concerns me. If he feels that we can not be competitive and will not be able to add the names to the squad that we all know we need then for me that is a huge worry. It sends out completely the wrong message. I just want to know the truth. That’s all. I find it strange because Cesc has said all season that he wants to stay, fully committed to the cause etc. Now it appears that is not the case.
If he wants to leave then the last thing I want is a player at the club who does not want to be there.
I know Clockenders a bit, use to go there all the time, met up with Ben during an Arsenal game one time they are a good bunch of lads contributing to the Almighty Arsenal.
Not too sure how trustworthy the source is but I think we can be pretty much sure that Cesc is going nowhere!
Thing is – speculating is all we are all doing.
No direct quotes from Cesc/Arsene. Only vague ‘Cesc wants to come to us’ stuff from Barcelona. All the noise is coming from the media which has its own agenda to push.
Fact is we just do not know. Maddening.
Now – I want Steve Gerrard! Perfect for us. Can’t we get Ray Parlour, Alan Smith, Martin Keown and Lee Dixon to start the ball rolling under the banner of scouser coming home?
If Cesc has asked to be sold and he wants to leave the club should be ruthless. If someone who you trusted and cared about betrayed you, there should be no sentimental afiliation anymore. Put Cesc on the table and give Barca the right of first buyer – 80M. If they refuse put him on general sale. I am sure someone will pay 60M + for him. Then take the money and buy 2-3 proven players with enough desire to play with their harts for the club.
if barca want to spend only 40 M ,they should look at J.Milner not cecs.
we are in better financial state than barca (and most club)we are in charge of fixing price not them.It s finish the time when we were giving away our star to bargain price.
And M Bia 16 M worth.. then denilson is worth 50M.from Marseille,Ben Arfa is the only player that will do.Perfect wenger signing:bag of talent but not the right coach .Like Pires before, his career going downhill and need rescuing…come on Arsene you know it make sense ๐
Not sure about Cesc trying to strongarm the boss. That I can’t support. He’s under contract. End of story. No more Captain’s armband. Give it to Van Persie. Let Cesc refind his form in the reserves.
I’d go 4-4-2:
Van Persie Chamakh
Nasri Diaby Song Walcott
Clichy Vermaelen Djourou Sagna
Fabianski
With that team, I could see us challenging for a top 4 spot.
Come on Gooners: Shoot for the top 4!
cesco nice try , WUM alert!!!!!!could see challenging for 4th….
like this year we were out of it.ho wait wrong team ,loserpool were. And if some of this player are so bad why the hell we finish 3rd and gone in 1/4 final of the money league again.Wenger is a genius i suppose .
I’d watch that team. Just have realistic expectations. It’s a long season, and lots of injuries. There’s also quality on the bench with Arshavin.
Btw, in case any didnt notice , Chamakh is finally on Arsenal’s homepage.

Evening Holics,
Browsing the net just now and I came across this article from The Telegraph website, apparently Peter Hill Wood said that Arsenal will do everything to keep Fabregas, they have not been approached by Barcelona yet but if it comes to it, we will refuse any offer as he is a very important player to us. So to me it sounds like Fabregas has requested a transfer. This little stunt will not do him any favours next season, our Captain who denied any speculation throughout last season is suddenly having a change of heart, I thought he would be more loyal than this. I’m yet to be proven wrong on this as I think Cesc is a intelligent kid, well we’ll find out soon enough. That article also made feel as if we were really desperate by the look of things.
Enjoy,

Yes its official Holics….
Chamakh is a GOONER
VanPersie Chamakh
Nasri Diaby Song Walcott
Clichy Vermaelen Djourou Sagna
Fabianski
The only real concern is between the sticks. And Djourou – unknown quantity.
Look for Diaby in the World Cup this summer!!!
Andy,
Just read your rant and got to admit I’m pissing myself as it’s right up there with was it the Norwegian or danish commentator that gave it to england after beating us ๐ I’m still chuckling now!
I know I’m never the mist positive but I’ve been looking forwad to Chamakahs signing as this boy can play and he’s shown nowhere near his full potential as of yet
Right of for a few bevies and an eat as much as you like Chinese I’ll be waddling like a duck tomorrow
If you so please barman a quick half before I go,
is it just me or does wenger look like he’s been having sleepless nights in that photoshoot video with chamakh?

I’m not sure I believe Cesc has submitted a transfer request. Can he seriously….with 4 years to go on his contract? I don’t think so. Plus, if he has, I’d have thought the press would get wind of it!
Personally, my take is that he was left feeling incredibly disappointed/dejected over the way the season ended, so is merely questioning the desire within the club to win trophies. Perhaps he is trying a different tactic than the usual one, when he immediately rebuffs any talk of overtures from the press suggesting he will move to Barca. Maybe this is a warning shot to those in power at Arsenal, those who feel safe he will slavishly honour his contract without any need, on the part of Arsenal, to fulfil his ambition with ‘real’ signings.
NB. Great news about Chamakh finally signing for the club. Now that is ‘real’ news!!
Keep on believing ๐
I probably shouldn’t have more drinks but I would like a Bellini please ‘holic
Nice to talk about something other than you know who. Excellent news about Chamakh ~ I think he’s going to be something rather special
Great symbolism in Chamakh taking #29: something new that we haven’t had in this team. French Morocco will be cheering the Arsenal!
Tim
Agree with you on that one, I have it up to my ears with this silly Fabregas saga.
Let’s be happy today I think we have signed a very good player ๐
It’s good to see Arsenal signing a 26 year old player approaching the prime of his career. Not only that, he is a suitable replacement for Adebayor who can be a good team player and target man who can provide headed goals. Don’t know between Chamakh and Bendtner who will be higher on Arsene’s list but it gives us many more attacking options.
