We Need To Go To Copenhagen Again!
Aug 9th, 2010 by 'holic
A weekend of furious debate has followed a freak scoreline in a pre-season friendly, and I am in need of a reminder that the vast majority of Gooners are top, top people. I don’t have to think for long either before numerous instances of good deeds being done to and for complete strangers spring to mind.
From the little things, like the Gooner neighbour who dropped an unsolicited programme through the letterbox for a match I was too ill to attend, to those who have provided tickets, rare memorabilia, transport to games etc.. There are too many instances for me to recall them all.
There is one place though that brings out the special bond that exists between followers of North London’s finest like no other. Everybody who has been to Copenhagen has memories of the Arsenal being together. I will never forget my first trip in 1994 as long as I live.
It wasn’t just Gooners who displayed the human spirit at its best for that game though. I wouldn’t have got there but for the boss. “Anything I can do in Copenhagen in May?” I asked half-heartedly when we won the semi-final. “Yes, you can take my place doing a customer service survey, as long as you can find a cheap flight.”
So on the Sunday prior to the game I boarded a Varig flight from Heathrow. As long as I included a weekend day the cost was just a hundred quid. I didn’t even think about digs until I got there. The Tourist Board, “the hotels are full. There’s a big football match on you know”, put me in touch with a grandmother called Guyta who had three spare rooms. That night she had three new Arsenal supporting guests.
Bless her, she had an English vocabulary of about a dozen words, but that was ten more than my grasp of Danish! For seventeen pounds a night she fed us, and showed us where to go with a mixture of maps and photographs.
Everywhere you went that week there were familiar people in red and white. There were obviously thousands without tickets, but by hook or by crook all were sorted, and I must say many were indebted to Danish Gooners who were buying tickets available only to locals direct from the Parken Stadium.
Now I said earlier that I will never forget that trip. That is not entirely true. The morning after we had pulled off an unlikely triumph I decided to pay a flying visit to a local hostelry just to scrounge a quick look at an English paper. What I thought was a couple of pints later I went out for a planned brewery tour only to find it was dark. Now I honestly will never know what happened to that Thursday.
Waking for my flight home on the Friday, unfortunately, I do remember. The last thing I wanted was to be on anything that moved. Horizontally was bad enough, but vertically as well? I was convinced the contents of my stomach would not stay with me long.
I took my seat by the window and grabbed for a sick bag. Next to me a Dane heading for a weekend break in London settled down. Next to him, and in the three seats in front of us, came four Gooner saviours. “Have a drink mate,” offered one, waving a bottle of Pernod in my face. Noticing my dismissal and empty heave, he did what any good man would do. He insisted I have the Pernod. “It’ll save yer life, trust me”.
By the time we started to taxi to the runway the Pernod was gone. “What’s in your bag Mickey?” Out came the brandy. To cut a long story short by the time we returned to Heathrow all four of those lads had shared their duty free with a very grateful, and very pissed Danish tourist, and I! You know what, that fella was right too. I felt brilliant. I always did wonder if one of the four, unconscious in his seat, woke up in Rio. “We’ll see you in the Woodbine next season mate”, and of course we didn’t. I’ll never forget their kindness though.
Six years later the Gooner spirit was once again evident in that beautiful city, in altogether different circumstances best glossed over. That place has earned itself a mystical place in Arsenal history. I wouldn’t mind reading that the European Champions League Final was going to be played there one May, although they need to find an extra twelve thousand seats to qualify. I have a feeling we would be fated to get there.
And once we did, I’ll wager Gooners would be sorting each other out with lifts, tickets, digs, food, money, and of course, life-saving booze! We really are like that.

First!!!1!!!
Pint of cider please, guv’
Ah youth… and pastis (bleh!).
I’ll rather have a vodka shot to match that Danish memory. Skal!
Well in nelly, and skal, Matt.
I did manage the Carlsberg tour by the way, it was Tuborg I intended to visit on the Thursday π
Fantastic as usual, ‘holic.
A great reminder of what being a Gooner is all about, the friendships, the adventures, and both the good and bad times. Amen to that.
Fresh air when the majority of the football world is only concerned with F5ing Newsnow and trying to impress the merits of their opinions on everyone else within shouting distance.
/rant
Cheers, as usual, mate. Looking forward to sharing more than a pint or two in the near future.
WHY? LAST TIME WE WERE THERE WE LOST!
drink me there holic
GOD, with all due respect that was your fault. If you had kept out of it we would have walked it π
Guys, it’s skΓ₯l!
Greetings from a dane π
Welcome William, and thank you.
Super story!!!
I too have great memories from these days. Im danish, and I first went to germany on the Friday to watch a music event, travelled from there back to denmark, and to copenhagen to meet up with the gooners from the danish fanclub, we packed and put the plastic bags you found on your seats when you arrived …. remember finding these ? π … there were a few red and white things in there… great Idea though. On the trip from germany to denmark I met two great english gooners, and we stayed friends for many years after that day … they came to see me in denmark & I went to see them in London more than once ….. football really brings people together so cheers to that! … and Arsenal 4 ever:-)
Nice post ‘holic, cheered me up no end, we are great bunch really just struggling t the moment π
I like the new color, ‘Holic. Makes a good pub even better.
Cider for me please.
If any Gooner is struggling at the moment, then they need to get in touch with Samaritans I guess, I learn to take things less seriously and get some bleedin perspective! I am so dam tired of doom mongering and generally miserable sods going on and on about how everything’s black…. BLACK I TELLS YA!
Anyway, great story holic, thanks mate.
Great days,Big Tone stood as a a man Mountain against The fat Swede and the little italian Magician and gun crazy Fausto.Parma were a brilliant smooth outfit but we still managed to produce one hell of a backs against the wall performance, great days.
Joshua, thank you. Didn’t think anybody had noticed!
Cheers Mug. They’re all good deep down, honest, just some of ’em aren’t deep enough yet π
Well said-several of our contingent could do with a “love in” in Copnehagen!
Oh Holic
I love your nostalgic posts it makes me yearn for the days of cup replays against Sheffield Wednesday and epic semi finals versus Liverpool and Evening News and Standard Cup Final specials.
Hot day in North Carolina today so mine is cold lager
If Arsenal ever wanted to create a book of Arsenal history from a fan’s point of view, I know who I would vote for to write it.
Pint of Boddingtons, Sir.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I second Joshua, the new colour looks great!
Don’t remind me, THG. Hillsbrough in the snow the first one with Wednesday, then two trips to Leicester was it? Then Coventry to eventually see off the Mickeys and us going mental in the West Stand.
Cracking, but expensive days!
Finally, a deep velvet wallpaper to cover the bar ‘s nicotine stained Walls. I will takes pint of Tuborg off your hands, barman.
did you manage to take a look at”fristaden” christiania? an absolute spot on place to nee if you are i denmark:)
Lets not forget Chippy making it 1-1 in the 91st or 92nd minute at Highbury in the first replay. The days before you knew how many minutes were added on.I was in the clockend going mental and the sheer dejection on the travelling Wednesday fans.Poor bastards.
Great post ‘Holic, as ever.
Drinking Pernod when you were THAT hungover suggests you are truly HARDCORE.
I’ll have a shandy – I’m not worthy. π
lasylays
I reckon I have seen most of the city now. Still love the place, and the crazy Danes and their songs that use English swearwords π
Is Faxe still over there? I must be the only Gooner who didn’t see him score his goal. At the last count there were over 150,000 in Highbury that day!
Great story Holic, your powers of recollection are immense even under extreme circumstances.
I love tours regrettably not done too many with fellow gooners though, other then Paris, but touringβs touring no matter what sport you are doing it with, oh & the less said about that Paris game the better!!!
So with that said & in memory of your flight home & Paris, it has to be a “Pernod please barman”…..
Absolutely awesome ‘holic.
Reading your site is like sitting down next to Grandad and the fire at Christmas. Not that you’re old or anything..
good stuff holic. great stories. you should write a book… bit of craic.
me and all my mates went to see two Invincibles last night in Henry and Ljungberg at Toyota Park, Bridgevoew stadium 15 minutes down the road from my house, and just outside of chicago. few drinks before hand lead to several of Arsenal songs being shouted out from myself and a couple more gunners at the match joined along for a good session with many people looking at us bewildered.
Bud Light please , barman.
Hell freezes over! A positive comment from Danish Gooner! Surely it must be our season now π
SkΓ₯l it is then…
I’ll wager at closing time some evenings in Copenhagen you will still hear people singing ‘one-nil to the Arsenal’ as sweetly as any choir.
Or maybe they’re ghosts…
Great stuff Chicago. I see Freddie is thanking everybody on his website tonight.
http://freddie.speaksup.com/2010/08/09/first-home-game-in-chicago/
a great place holic, iv been 3 times, 2 finals and brumby, i love it. what a fantastic read, well done sir
Cheers dizzle, and hello iSnail. I didn’t see you sneak in there.
Oh nice didn’t see that . Over 21,000 came out last night. Averaging 14,000 per match over here.. not too shabby.
Champions League group game in Amsterdam was awesome. After beating them, I expected a tear up but it ended in an almighty piss up. Huge respect for the Ajax fans. Copenhagen v Galatasaray weren’t as much fun though. I think the Turks want to repeat Gallipoli whenever they meet the English clubs which is amazing considering the huge London Turkish Arsenal Army. Copenhagen and Smith though? Happy days
Good stuff ‘holic. Unfortuntately I was to miss out on the 94 Final through the stumbling block of youth. It’s hard for a 12 year old to get to such a game with the old man working.
Will never foget watching the game from afar and the wild celebrations that followed at the Parken Stadium and Upper St. I made sure the old man got me involved for the final the following year in Paris. Not so celebratory. Nayim and the last time I cried at football.
I did make it to Copenhagen for the UEFA Cup Final v Galatasary, meaning my memories of the city are not so wonderful as yours, for many a reason.

@Goonerholic
1979
we drew 1-1 away at Wednesday in the snow, the gentle sheffield constabulary walked us under their huge end and we were pelted with snowballs packed with rocks, nice eh? We drew 1-1 at home deep deep deep into injury time and Jack Charlton claimed the Famous Clock at the Clock End put his players off. We then went to Leicester three times drawing 2-2, then 3-3, including a national train strike but thousands of gooners still made it there and finally we beat them 2-0, and all of the games were at leicester. The Wednesday fans were singing “we’re proud of you”, we were singing “we’re sick of you”.
1980
we played Liverpool 4 times drawing 0-0 away 1-1 at Highbury, 1-1 again and then Noddy Talbot scored the goal at Coventry that sent us to Wembley. And they moan they play too many games these days lol
Jaygooner, is that where ” …over land and sea AND LEICESTER!” comes from?
Absolutely! That January we played at Leicester more than Leicester did lol, it was the only club that had undersoil heating other than Arsenal of course.
I was at every single one of those games Jay, and you might be right Uncle Mike, but I think it may have started before that.
Leicester was a regular trip in those days, and for some reason a place we always took big numbers. Bit like Coventry as well. Always good days out. Lucky to have lived through it.
Fantastic piece.
By the Way, regarding Faxe. He actually went on to win the danish equivalent to the PL as a coach some years ago. After some years together with Michael Laudrup as a coach in spain and elsewhere he headed for another coaching job in the Danish “superliga” but got fired after a very bad start to the season. DonΒ΄t think he do much coaching right now…..
Great memories Holic! Brilliant stuff indeed!
Wisniowka for everyone on the Pole π
Thanks Larsenal.
Good to hear JJ had some success. You know that night we beat Parma he had his wallet nicked in the nightclub after the game. To this day I pray it wasn’t a Gunner that did it, but given how many were around it was a fair bet…
My money is on David Hillier π
Don’t mind if I do, thanks Arthur.
Amazing how the mood has changed in here tonight. Nice bit of history, as usual.
Remember the Liverpool replays and turning up at Coventry looking for Entrance M, which was located exactly opposite the turning where we emerged after parking in a late panic.
Decided to turn left and follow the turnstiles round to “M” just as an entire street full of scousers appeared coming towards the three of us. Too close to do anything other than keep walking and hope for the best.
Apart from a massive amount of piss taking, they were all as good as gold. Great old days – some of them!
Left a query at the end of last night’s hostilities – does anyone know what the Alex Song injury is?
Glass of (deep) red, please – like the new colour.
1994. 1-0 to the Arsenal, we sang & sang & sang. My voice was shot from all the singing. We had to spend the entire night at the Airport due to our flight back to London delayed until 7AM next morning. No one cared. What a brilliant couple of days that was. No one gave Arsenal a chance with our severely weakened team. Morrow, Hillier, Kevin Campbell were amongst the team that day. Of course we had the Famous Back 5 with Seaman, Dixon, Winterburn, Adams & Bould all heroes that day. What memories.
Fantastic piece holic. Really jealous of everyone of you who lived those days and all of you who are living the days now.
Oh Arsenal, do a pre-season tour to India someday. Pretty please?
A very nice story sir.
2 pints o’ plain please.
Nice bit of nostalgia, ‘holic!
Too early for Pernod, it definitely won’t save my life today.
I’m surprised dizzy didn’t mention it but….
Burger King or McDonald’s? π
I agree with nelly and mug
sorry be to a party pooper lads but have u seen this? http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2010/08/09/2062492/xavi-cesc-fabregas-will-join-barcelona-in-january-because
……the bit about the title challenge stings…..it could be true!
Beeing a gooner for over 40 years now (living in Sweden), I remember that game very well. I had my ticket on Parma-side…!
(Got it from friend of a friend of Thomas Brolin, who played for Parma then). I had a huge Arsenal flag on a stick with me and the guard outside the gate told me: “You should go round to opposite side, pal!”
“No, I have my ticket on this side” I told him.
“Are you serious? Going in there with that?”
“Yepp!”
“Well, good luck. You will need it!”
And it was a wonderful feeling waving my flag when Smudge scored in the goal just in front of me, surrounded by thousands of Parma-fans !!
I know now that was a crazy thing to do, but I survived π
Could this happen today?
No…, for two reasons:
1) The guard wouldn’t let you in, I think
2) I’m a bit older now…, and not that crazy
Good post and a nice memoir petit`e
I`ll have a lager and a bag of nuts sir.
Copenhagen vs Parma is… delays on M25 making me late for Gatwick… speaking to Kelsey from the car who said plane was delayed…. getting to Gatwick and planning our day “doing the museums”… watching the flight departure time going further and further into the day… realising all other gooner planes had gone… being marched by armed police into a lounge away from the other travellers… being told by the airline (in front of armed police) that there was problem with the plane… being held in that lounge till four pm… being told the problem was fixed… boarding… sitting.. waiting… taking off far too close to 5pm… being met by a police bus on the tarmac at the airport… not being taken into terminal but being driven straight to the ground… police driver telling us we were passing Tivoli gardens… Gooner shouting “where’s the hookers”… coach stopping outside stadium… finding right entrance… walking up stairs with kelsey to get first glimpse of pitch… at the very same moment the teams emerged and the Gooner end went wild… SMUDGER… SEAMAN….one-nil to the arsenal… walking away with no idea of where coach would go from… meeting danish gooner who bought us Tuborg cans from a supermarket and wouldn’t take any money… finding the square with the buses… whisked back to airport… this is what the terminal looks like… waiting to 3am for flight back… M25 empty at 5am… home… bed.. sleep… sod work… one-nil to the arsenal…
Brilliant Holic. A timely reminder to everyone that there is more to supporting Arsenal than being a naysayer. I have reprimanded myself about my doubts and am really looking forward to the new season. Come on you Gooners!
A pint of Pride is called for!
I was on that same flight home sitting next to some glamour models on their way to Rio for a shoot. For me too the flight was a memorable one, one of the girls gave me her number and a photo which i still have till this day. I always wondered should i have called her but at that time was in a serious relationship, needless to say that when that was over i called the number but it no longer worked, did it ever? i will never know, but many a good wank was had over the thought of it all and that fantastic week in copenhagen! 1-0 to the Arsenal, John Jensen in plaster, in that night club oh the memories.
Just for nelly…
Thank you.
No, not just for nelly. Everybody else too. Thanks for your input. It’s the ‘holics what make the drinks π
A trip down memorielane what a brilliant night
I just Love The Arsenal. Unconditionally.
Lovely five minutes reading that piece. That was one of the happiest evenings of my life
“Georgie Grahams Magic, he wears a magic hat. And when he saw the cup winners cup he said i’m having that ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….”
Come on you reds
ahh wat a night it seemed cant wait to watch an arsenal match would be the first thing i ever do if i could travel soon!
Holic hope you dont mind put this up from the official site it ties in nicely with what youve written π
Instead, a goal arrived at the other end. In the 21st minute, a misjudged overhead clearance from Minotti fell to Smith on the edge of the area. He chested the ball down and fired in a left-foot volley which bounced in off the post. Arsenal had an unlikely lead.
They defended it with their lives. Lee Dixon, Steve Bould, Tony Adams and Nigel Winterburn were simply outstanding, ably protected by the tenacious Selley and Morrow. Seaman, when called upon, was unbeatable. Parma huffed and puffed but were repelled time and again. The Arsenal fans, waving their flags in the old-fashioned Parken Stadium, loved every minute of it.
The final whistle sparked wild scenes of celebration as the Arsenal fans, players and staff hailed a stunning victory against the odds. ‘One-nil to the Arsenal’ filled the Copenhagen air. The Club had won its second European trophy, 24 years after lifting the Inter-City Fairs Cup at Highbury.
Happy Days, Oh for that back 5 again π
Excellent stuff sir.
Seems to have frightened off a lot of the gloomy sods from the bar.
Happy Hour is here again.
PInt of cider please guv’, with a pernod shot on the side.
brilliant . long time reader. 1st post.
remember it well. was in a pub in holborn, only a handfulof us but we had flags and were all shirted up! great night, bottle of champagne and everyone signed the empty only for me to leave it n the night bus home
being in paris 06 was a great night apart from the score though
Enough of this Emirates business. How about Tuborg for Arsenal’s new sponsor? It would make Arsenal-Liverpool the all Danish beer derby, as if the matchup needed anything else to spice it up. Speaking of Liverpool, after we tear them to pieces we may have Roy Hodgson wondering, “What would Wafa do?”
Chippy – they should show that match to the current squad. Remind them about defending and putting yourself on the line for your Club.
Afternoon, sorry to change subject but have you seen this..
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23865486-tottenham-in-shock-chase-to-sign-william-gallas.do
had enough already,so just a double powers and a cab plz guv!
‘holic at 58.
What’s this pub where the customers have to serve the drinks?
I want my money back! π
It’s before my time but what a lovely piece, thanks ‘Holic!
Went to see the LA Galaxy v Real Madrid on Saturday night. World Cup winners Alonso, Casillas & Ramos all played 45 minutes. I believe all 3 played every minute in the World Cup Finals. Funny how Cesc didn’t even take part in a game in Poland the same day & looks like he’s “short” for Sunday yet those 3 went half way around the world to play a half each. 2-0 down at Half Time, Real Madrid then got serious to win with 3 second half goals & Alonso scoring the winner. Now my “fave” Spanish team.
Brilliant, ‘holic. Top man.
What a night in 94 – was on a fly in fly out trip and bitterly upset that had to leave the city straight after the game to fly home.
I vowed I would never do that again and would always stay the night of the game for the party. Three trips to finals later – 3 defeats !
Maybe I shouldn’t stay next time !
a really great trip down memory lane ‘holic. great to read a post like this the week before the circus starts again.
maybe we’re all a little spoiled by success and we should remain humble that we still have a decent club to support, whoever is wearing the shirt. and maybe we should demand nothing but the best at the utmost risk to the board’s financial sanity. who knows?
great story, must get some pernod in.
Holic, another great post that brings the memories flooding back!!
I was also on one of those one day excusions to wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen.
After queing up on that early Sunday morning to get our match ticket, we went over to Finchley to pay Β£100 for the flight from a bloke called Miles (well known for his previous excursions), who had arranged a “Do it for Wrighty” tour.
The above posts give a great picture of the day but dont give enough justice to how big underdogs we were for winning the game!
Smudger, backs against the wall and that bulldog spirit. One nil to the Arsenal!!!
Another cold Strongbow please Sir……
Mass.
That bloke wasn’t known as Air-Miles was he?
Great recollection this, holic. Surprised you remembered the flight back home, Danish lad must have been cherry faced. Wish I was older in the day to experience it.
Nice nostalgia trip.
Bass please. I have had the day from hell…….
Cheers Steve, to a terrific day tomorrow and an even better Saturday π
Morning Holic.
Talking about nostalgia, I unfortunately go back further.Fairs Cup Final first leg against Anderlecht in Brussels.
Was it 1970 ? first chance of silverware for about 17 years.
A group of us flew out of Luton on a day return for a total cost of Β£12.00 including standing tickets.
Oh what a nail biting night, 3-0 down and our dreams were fading fast, then this kid came on, hadn’t seen much of him, but suddenly with minutes we scored, the name Ray kennedy.
We had hope and subsequently on a bog of a pitch we turned the deficit into a 3-0 victory on the night. It was too much for an elderly gentleman sitting quite close by.he suffered a heart attack, and unfortunately I don’t know to this day what happened to him. however,
A night never to be forgotten.
sorry I meant in the return leg at hHghbury we turned the deficit around.
ron,
you need this one then…
http://goonerholic.com/?p=2391 π
sorry about that holic, at least my memory hasn’t failed me.
A Coronita for me, with a touch of lemon π
Never say sorry Ron.
Your friends don’t need it, and the other bastards don’t believe it. π
Well that is me done. All packed and ready to take the family away for 2 weeks. Sadly that means I miss the opening games of the season but will hopefully catch them somewhere. Hopefully by my return we will have made the necessary signings and be top of the league.
One final note, nice to see 3 of the lads play for England this evening. Theo did very well and I thought Gibbs looked very good indeed. How good will that kid get. Jack made a cameo but again did not look out of place.
Missing you all already.
Keep the faith people.
‘Holic, I’ve noticed that your history pieces may get fewer drinks, but they do seem to keep the wahoos away. There also weren’t many wahoos in my history courses in college. Coincidence?
Not at all, behind the 8 ball but not nasri, not at all.
At the same time it has been a pleasant surprise to witness Danish and Bernard come up with feelgood comments, all credits to `Holic’s post.
Why is the first game 3 days away ? It seems so long!!! Can’t it be now?
Evening all. Not wishing to dampen the mood as I try to always be quite balanced about things Arsenal, so can someone even more balanced than I, please reassure me that it’s all going to be okay.
Three days to go to Anfield and the Arsenal have no first choice goalkeeper.
In the centre of our defence we have Vermaelen and Koscielny, the latter is at least fit but has never played in the Premier League. We will all, clearly, hope that he is as good as Vermaelen proved to be last season.
Other than that we have Djourou – currently injured with a hamstring problem, surprise, surprise – who has recently said that he would prefer to play as a central midfielder.
We have Song – currently injured with a calf problem, and who is supposed to be our central midfielder, so he couldn’t fill in at CB anyway.
Then we are down to Havard Nordveidt, also untried in the first team.
At the end of last season Arsene said it was time to get in some more experience – “no more potential” – were his exact words.
Can someone please tell me it is not yet time to worry.
If anyone can ‘Holic, you must be the man.
Trev,
Wish i could mate,
Something tells me Cesc new exactly what our Transfer plans were this summer which helped make his mind up !
I dont go as far back as some on here but id take an educated guess this is the weakest weve ever been at centrehalf, and as for the keeper that should have been wrapped up months ago, Schwarzer look like it may well happen which would be a boost but surely to god it should have been done quicker, We are talking about a 37year old that with all due respect to Fulham has never been top drawer its not like we are trying to sign one of the worlds best,
@Chippy: It’s clear the club is only looking for a stop-gap solution until either Fabianski or Woj is ready.
IMHO Schwarzer is not better than Almunia, not sure what the reasoning is for trying to land him except maybe cater to the fans.
Eveyone seem to think the market will be frantically active in the last days. We’ll see.
Matt.
Yes agree, They defo think Woj is going to be special and at 22 he may be ready,
I was of the same opinion as you about Schwarzer not really being an improvement on Almunia but after going back over his mistakes last year its a no brainer it was so obvious the defence had zero confidence in him whether the Aussie is the answer only time will tell,
Trev,
The hills are alive with the sound of a double signing in the next day or two we may just get that centrehalf we are crying out for,
Indeed, if Woj has an outstanding season in a Championshup club the same way he did last season in League One, we can bet he will be our keeper next season.
I’ll take your word that Schwarzer could bring more than the Almunia of lat season. I still think he’s inferior to the Almunia of 2 seasons ago though.
Still waiting for a CB but then I read a disheartening bit in a Young Guns article about HΓ₯vard Nordtveit promoted to the first-team squad.
“The news is also notable in terms of Wengerβs transfer plans, as Nordtveit was told earlier in the summer he would only be staying if the club failed to bring in another centre half after the transfer of Laurent Koscielny.”
http://younggunsblog.co.uk/blog/#ixzz0wQiq1wLr
If that’s true we’ll see a lot of Frimpong and Denilson in the DM position this season while Song will be busy as CB…
Just read this. Truly wonderful stuff, ‘holic.
This is one huge reason why I love Arsenal.
