Arsenal Close West Wing Of The Treatment Room
Nov 5th, 2010 by 'holic
Almunia, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Diaby, Ramsey, Frimpong, van Persie.
Notice anything? We couldn’t field a whole team from the sick bay anymore. We are short a couple of defenders and a pair of wide attacking players. Fully fit, possibly only three of those would feature in the starting eleven, with another couple strengthening the bench. We are as close to getting back to full strength as we have been all year, I suspect.
Not before time either. Our Carling Cup side may have taken Newcastle’s Carling Cup side apart at St. James Park, but as we saw last Sunday they are likely to provide a sterner test at the Grove. The manner of their defeat of neighbours Sunderland was comprehensive. Nolan and Ameobi may have grabbed the goals, but the domination of their fiercest rivals was evident in every position.
Arsenal, of course, come into the game off the back of one of their two poorest performances of the season, but buoyed by the return of Fabregas, Song, Denilson, and Arshavin. The first of those two I would expect to return into midfield, and then the fascinating question of who to accompany them. Nasri and Wilshire are both on fire, but if Walcott and Arshavin take up the wide berths there will be only room for one of them. Chamakh must get the nod ahead of Bendtner.
At the back surely Sagna and Koscielny will return in place of Eboue and Djourou. Clichy can be thankful that Gibbs is still ‘gone in the fetlock’, and must demonstrate greater concentration in the defending third. Fabianski can continue to build on his recent steady form, but will be sorely tested by Carroll and Nolan at set pieces. I trust attention has been paid to this area in the preparations. We know the visitors will test his new found confidence in crowded goalmouths fully.
That is not the only area they will test the resolve and patience of Arsenal players and officials alike. The closing stages of the Carling Cup tie saw the witless Barton demonstrate the art of provocation and needless thuggery to the limit. Samir Nasri is one who has reacted to the little pug before, and again one would hope this potential situation has been addressed at Shenley today.
Now if all of that sounds a little pessimistic, it isn’t meant to. We have a good record against the Geordies down the years, and the outcome will be decided by which Arsenal turns up. They are not mobile enough to cope if we establish our ‘handbrake off’ game, but as usual that will need to be earned in the early stages. It is easy to glibly predict that the score could be anything, but it really could. The ‘holic pound has been teetering on the fence. Correct score? First goalscorer? Anytime goalscorer? Tough call indeed.
I’m going with a topical bet. So far this season Alex Song has been surprisingly prolific, for him, with four goals in twelve appearances, and three of them in his last three. He is as low as 14/1 with Coral to open the scoring, which makes the 22/1 offered by Paddy Power irresistable. After Theo landed the punt in the week the ‘holic pound is only a fiver down to a level pound stake this season. One good punt would get us into decent profit territory. Come on Alex!
Those travelling up from the West Country should check details of delayed train services due to engineering works on Sunday. The same applies for the North London derby, so I have booked myself into first-class that day just to secure a slot on one of the few trains that will not involve a change or two. Having got yourself to the Grove I trust you will have a great day, and get behind the side.
Have a good one ‘holics, and pop back in the drinks that follow for any supplementary punts. Come on you riproaring!

First?
I just can’t emphasize how much I hate joey Barton. He is a complete pikey, White trash bag hillbilly piece of scum. Wen I train in the gym and I’m pushing it hard I picture he’s ugly fat head and how much I want to stomp he’s brains out, and it drives me on.
Yes, my first time being first at the bar 🙂
Pint of Boddingtons, please!
And yes, Joey Barton is a cnut of the highest order. He is a decent player, but a cnut no less.
I think I am 2nd. It is in the midfield and the two wide strikers that will give Wenger a headache on the starting line up. I hope Wenger plays Theo Chamakh and Nasri as our front men, for the midfield, the trio of fab, song and jack will be fantastic
I see Ill have to wait a while before I can speak my mind about Joey Barton .. Its a long fucking line. Im hoping Song and Wilshereshow him we have some wreckles tackling in us as well .. There will be drama Nasri hates his guts and he took out el capitan a couple of days ago and with Nolan and his spouse abusing understudy in field we will be in for a fight.
are you being serious he’s a good player?? The onlything he’s good at is being a complete scum bag piece of pikey inbred sh*t. He’s a good player haha yea alrite mate what ever you say sancho, he’s average at best, when he’s actually out of prison. Btw I really don’t like bentner he’s rubbish and cocky too and slow and he wears pink boots and he dresses worser than eboue
I agree entirely with the remarks about Barton, who should have been banned from football years ago. Unfortunately, earlier thugs like Keane had already set the pattern for unjustly remaining in the game.
But Barton is not alone at Newcastle for thuggery. He has Smith as his co-thug and captain and is steadily being joined by Carroll. who so far has done his best work in pubs and clubs,on the fairer sex.
great name for this article haha.
@ ken – couldn’t agree more.
I’ll have a large glass of the Carmenere, the one from the Devil’s Cellar, please ‘holic.
Evening @ ‘Holic & ‘Holics
I see Lars is already on the Boddies and the knives are out for J*ey B*rt*n, fair play.
Is ATV-O time, anyone tuning in?
There’s a ton of negativity surrounding Mr. Clichy at the moment. A lot of it sounds overly harsh, however, he does need a fit Kieran Gibbs to keep him honest and to get the best out of him.
TS, I think that ton of negativity toward Clichy is mostly coming from the same crowd who can’t get by without a scapegoat for their own frustrations. Clichy made a key mistake as he has done before but I wouldn’t identify him as the reason for our loss at Shakhtar. His slip against Spurs a couple of years ago still rankles me though.
Evening Holic
Our esteemed captain is still not certain to start on Sunday, according to AW he will have a fitness test on saturday morning,
Bearing in mind we play 2 very ‘ aggressive ‘ teams in Wolves and Everton away in the week after the Newcastle game,i wonder whether his hamstring will survive.
My thoughts personally are Newcastle and Everton and perhaps on the bench for the Wolves game.
With the colder weather upon us,being a night match the Wolves game is the danger one for him and that should be a game we can win without him.
Good news on RVP back in full training today and TV only a few days away according to AW.
With the Spuds due to visit in 2 wks time, hopefully fingers crossed and everything else crossed.!! we could be lining up against them with a near full strength first team lineup.
I am going to take an alternate approach to betting this weekend – I am going to see what the odds are for our opponents to get a red card:
The contenders are numerous –
Barton, well see all of the above,
Smith obnoxious peroxide twat,
Nolan – has previous, and
Carroll – may just mistake one of our pretty boys for a girl and swing a punch, which seems to be his modus operandi.
We have been getting quite a few red cards shown to opponents this season (of course it’s all our own fault, we are too quick etc etc) so this will hopefully distract me from my normal angst as we create innumerable chances in the “attempt to score the perfect goal” (copyright to the cliched commentators of Man Utd Sports).
Bring it on – Arsenal will win 🙂
‘Nasri,
Thanks for spotting my “blatant attempt” in the last piece, classic! Thought it might make you smile.
Clichy just isn’t that bad. Spot on re the “scapegoat crowd”
…not piece, post….
Zicoinexile
Liked your comment. Using the recent CC encounter with Newcastle,
as a yardstick, Thug Smith will get a yellow and will be subbed by Thug Barton who will also be yellowed. The problem will be how badly hurt will Ces or Wilshere be as a result and how strong will be the ref.
Carroll will fight for his Club during the evening at any one of the London pubs and clubs……..provided small members of the opposite sex are available.
Zico,
Well done mate. Let’s keep all of our vitriol aimed squarely at the enemy. Nice choice of words.
Carroll’s a piece of work isn’t he? He is to the modern man what Herod was to child care.
Talking of enemies, I am deeply saddened having trolled the web tonight for the old UTA Spurs clock. It ticks no more. Anybody out there who could do me a replacement for the sidebar here in the run-up to the game in a fortnight?
The clock needs to be ticking over from 4.40 on 29th April 1961, so as I type it is 49 years, 6 months, 7 days, 6 hours, 3 minutes and 15 seconds. My undying gratitude and a pint of Guinness will be owed to anybody who can help.
Cheers.
Preferably to incorporate the words…
‘Big club my Arse!’
True Storey:
Clichy IS that bad. I spent last season defending him too but with his experience he shouldn’t be embarassibg himself quite so often and breaking gooners hearts in the process.
Oh, and no one I know of blamed Clichy for our defeat in Donetsk; Eastmond, Eboue, Bendtner and many others performed poorly.
Wilshere, on the other hand was amazing. I love him.
RVP
Agree with you re: Wilshere. Perhaps his sublime skills will help to heal your broken Gooner’s heart?
‘Holic,
Surely it isn’t this easy?
http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=8c968f37-0254-4f9e-8b57-763e7fab079f
Have I missed the point?
Let’s rest Captain Fab rather than taking unnecessary risks we may regret afterwards and since Nasri shines centrally, I’m all for Song/Denilson, Nasri and LJW in the middle.
Theo Walcott imho is a starter in every game now, the way he pins down the opposition LB and systematicaly draws 2 defenders to him is priceless. Which leaves the only question: Arshavin or Rosicki?
I really like Newcastle as a team, they always go forward and are certainly the most interesting non-top 4 team to watch with Everton imho. I confess if it was to watch Stoke I probably wouldn’t muster the courage to get up at 5.30 on a Sunday…
We don’t know which Newcastle will turn up but if it’s the good side it will be a tough game. It’s a must-win in my book though, with Chelski away at a resurgent Liverpool we have a chance to claw back towards the top.
Up the Gunners!
That’s a Windoze Vista widget by the look of it TS. Not quite what I need.
Matt @ 25
Having had a weeks rest,i still think Fabregas should play against Newcastle, with Wolves away in midweek,i feel we should be able to beat them without him, which would give him another full weeks rest till Everton away next Sunday.
I cannot see him playing all 3 if his hammy is still slightly niggly.
So bookending him this w/end and next, might mean the diff between keeping him going or him having another spell on the sidelines.
With a poxy friendly intl midweek coming up 3 days before we play the Spuds,we will have to pray Fab can manage to get through in one piece.
3 points please, with a performance to match. That is all I ask for. Let us all hope that there is a massive change in attitude from Wednesday night?
Up the Gunners….
Keep the faith.
I agree with Snail. Clichy is a huge weak link now. Has been for a number of seasons.
Preparation. Now that’s a novel concept. Hasn’t been seen around the Arsenal defence for many a season.
A toast to the ‘holic pound whose hope springs eternal despite intermittent success. What’s more it’s got universal appeal, i.e., not one of us blamed it for any of our losses.
I want to see Walcott start leaving Arshavin on the bench. Unlikely though it is.
I’ll throw a fiver towards the holic pound and another on 3-1. I think it’ll be easier than expected.
Something on tap please barman. Pilsner?
Cheers all. Go the gunners!
Holic, you’ve got mail, and a great one indeed this time (if I’m not mistaken) 😀
Hi,
Think Wenger has to be cautious with fabregas. We need him for the two away games coming up. If hes not feeling a hundred percent, rest him.
Keep the clean sheets coming please!
Cheers!
Morning all ‘Holics
@ Matt # 26 – That’s a very good point. It looks like Anfiled might be a tough place to go and play football again so that could be a decent boost for our Championship aspirations IF they can turn The Chavs over.
Much more concerned about how we play right now – just so long as “good Arsenal” turns up and do a decent bit of Toon bashing on Sunday then that’s all we really ask.
Up the Gunners indeed!
Holic did you found out your run down clock yet?
I’ll have a look for you….
Snr Geuli what is going on in Spain – here 4 a few days and there is in ze bar a betting machine where we are odds on to win tomorrow virtually any score you can name
there are no odds on Bartons red card nor on how many injuries they cause
I hope that training this week has concentrated in not being bullied by thugs of which there are unfortunately too many in their side
in mean time a large Rioja for me senor
Is this for real…?
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/11/06/arsene-wenger-accused-of-having-secret-affair-with-french-rapper-115875-22696435/
Goodness me, we could do without this kind of nonsense going on when we’re trying to win 4 trophies 🙁
Sorry holic I believe the one I created check you Twitter messages is not what you looking for I’ll have another go and will let you know.
TS
Has Wenger been a naughty boy? Oh Dear ….we don’t need this shyte do we now?
@ ‘Holic
Saw your X-Box comment on Twitter, v.funny. Fair-play, feel free to remove post #38 for fear of more solitary in the corner that is naughty. 🙂
Morning Arthur!
Finished your b’day celebrations yet? 🙂
Those were my thoughts too but I think ‘Holic’s comment on Twitter probably says it all. It won’t stop the vultures in the media circling but I guess we can do our best on this corner of the internet to just try and ignore and focus on the importnat stuff on the pitch. ‘Nuff said?
I see you’re being a very helpful bunny re: the UTA Clock. What we’ll do for a pint of Guinness, eh? 🙂
Barman? A pint for Arthur please, ta!
Morning TS
Just felt like a challange I suppose I have created one already but it’s the countdown clock and not good he he
Yeah celebrations were over the next day 🙂 I didn’t drink that much this time around saving myself you know, getting old and all that. Too right we need to keep foucs on the important stuff and that’s on the pitch indeed.
Thanks for the guniess though very well deserved 🙂
One for you I take it?
No deleting here TS. People will see it elsewhere. Gooners should think twice before reacting. Remember giving good-natured grief to Tommy Doc and Peter Shilton in similar circumstances.
What is important is that Arsene, Annie, and Leah are able to resolve this privately, and to their satisfaction.
It really isn’t any of our business, other than the inevitable banter that will ensue. Particularly in a fortnight. That will be a day to get four square behind the man.
Arthur,
Top part was like this … http://tinyurl.com/382za93
Underneath a permanently increasing count-up clock giving years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds, since LWC’s last won the league.
Well said. How’s that UTA clock coming along?
Arthur, delighted to join you in a morning sup, cheers 🙂
Okay Holic and Holics
I have found this but it doesnt count yeras I know…. I’m still looking so fingers crossed
http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/countuptimer
Have adapted it, thanks Arthur. Will try it out for a day or two to guage reaction. Think needs years, months, weeks, added…
Have a free lifetime subscription as a token of my gratitude 😉
… And another pint from me Arthur
That’s mighty “neighbourly” of you ‘Holic, looks fine. It should get the message across the other end of the S.Sisters Rd. Put “Big club my Arse!” on a separate line?
Found another one on my site now http://www.arsenaltalk.co.uk
Your site, Arthur?
Why have you packed up?
Havent had time mate 🙂
How about a bells & whistles app on the homepage that goes off every time the opposition scores against Sp*ds?
Guinness as well now, Arthur 😉
Come on Bolton
Oh dear The Neighbours, never thought I’d be writing a compliment to Kevin “Elbows” Davies 🙂
Bolton 1-0. That’s our man Davies.
behind the 8 ball but not nasri
That would tkae me months 🙂
Holic
Try this one as well
http://www.7is7.com/otto/countdclock.html
Bells and whistles would have just sounded 1-0 bolton
I’ll drink to that…
What’s Black and White and Red All Over?
It’s a case of Black and White and so most minds turn to green glass bottles, two Scots Terriers and a few wee yins. But there are stripes involved, so maybe it’s a zebra we’re talking about – running with the wildebeests or crossing Abbey Road, singing Come Together for the Blaydon Races?
Or perhaps it’s the striped prison uniform, of a convict in a chain gang, and Back To The Future with Uncle Jail Bird Joey? NOW we’re getting warmer. A large feathery bird with a penchant for nicking things that shine. We’re nearly there.
A bunch of magpies is leaving their nest in the north and migrating to the sunny south to see if there’s something to be stolen from the box of glittering jewels called the Emirates. There’s three solid gold points on the line, the hooked beak is open in the hope of picking them up, and there’s a nasty glint in the Big Bird’s eyeballs.
There’s Dolly Barton, who’s a big tit prone to big boobs. And Christmas Carroll, a real yule log cracker sure to get his Roman candle out and start the fireworks flying and Catherine’s Wheel spinning for Guy F*cks sake. A Nolan sister is part of the flock and there’s a bleached blonde Smith hammering hooves into anything, in red hot range, as the coals from Newcastle burn on the bonfire and smoulder in November’s gloom.
It’s not going to be a game for miners, X-certificate stuff is more likely, as bone-brain-Barton hacks and hews his way along the coalface of young gunners legs as Arsenal try to gas his canary and put his pit light out for good. Will there be a Strike that will put the lights out in London and tip us into a three-day week of despair until we win at Wolves?
Or will the wind in Arsenal’s turbines generate blue flashes of brilliance, sufficient to burn the Fog right off the Tyne and power Lindisfarne’s lighthouse to illuminate ‘Holic’s unsteady return through dark streets from the Tollie to Holloway Road?
Although we poured Carling Black Label all over them and distinguished their embers easily in the beer cup, they showed against Sunderland last week that they can play. Arsenal will need to be firing with all blades spinning if they’re to build a brave new castle of victory and leave Newcastle in an anthracitic wheeze.
I expect the TTT to start, so the juices will be flowing in Block 91. That is, of-course, unless Cesc’s hammy is still dodgy, then Arsene will need to say “C’way, Jack me Lad” and field Wilshere from the start. Sagna and Kos will be added to steel the defence and neuter the twin threat of Guttierez and Carroll.
Chamakh and Andrei up front is likely, with Nasri in the remaining spot. Bendy and Theo at 70 minutes for rotational refreshment and two late goals as Arsenal take it to four and Move On Up on the back of a 4-1 home win is written clearly in the pea-souper coal smoke swirling in the BtM crystal ball.
Late Breaking News: Gael Clichy has reportedly been attending “Cross It Like Gareth” classes at the Bale academy on WHL! Maybe he’ll get one in this week?
Holic
Looking good 🙂
Great post BtM as always.
“Arsenal will need to be firing with all blades spinning if they’re to build a brave new castle of victory and leave Newcastle in an anthracitic wheeze.”…. now I know you’re ‘avin’ a larf 🙂
You’re welcome to join me in a half-time and they’re 1-0 down, oh dear the neighbours drink…
Brilliant, BtM. All the bells and whistles we need right there.
‘Haway ‘nasri,
All this talk of Bells might force a round of scotch?
Scotch instead of beels each time Sp#ds are scored upon then?
Now you’re talking – that could do some serious liver damage
Only virtual liver damage tho TS. That’s my favourite kind! Bolton moved ahead of Sp*ds in the “as it stands” table with that Davies goal. Long may it stay that way.
There was nothing virtual about that second Bolton goal 🙂
Right you are, TS. Speaking of that 2nd Bolton goal, wasn’t wonder boy Bile supposed to be marking goalscorer Steinsson, or was that just my imagination?
Virtual double of Scotch for me please barman.
The Boy Bile – like it – heh!
Whoopsy – daisy and the scum are 3-0 down!
Make that a quadruple virtual Bells please and several for yourself
Same old T*ttenh*m, always losing….
Full time Bolton 4-2. That was a virtual stomach turner at the end with my stomach only landing right-side up at the last minute. More virtual scotch to celebrate the heroic Boltonians. Boltonites? Maybe a Bolton expert is required to settle this issue.
Typical LWC. World beaters to first class chumps in one fell swoop.
The face of Twitch after the 2nd goal went in and his strop, round about substitution time, was worth my annual Sky Sports subscription for those moments alone.
Big club my arse, you’re right @Holic.
Now lets put some daylight between us and them starting tomorrow!
BTEBBNN,
I think you’re unaware of their Italian origin. Bolton Wanderers were established by a Sicilian Mafia called Buttonescue who wanted to launder his illegal crack-spaghetti gains in a dark and dank corner of North West England.
He Wondered long how he could do it before he came up with this cunning wheeze (of anthracitic proportions).
So, not Boltonians, not Boltonites, but Boltonionos, in deference to Buttonescue who die tragically a few years later of Barolo poisoning, trying to warm himself up in a dark and dank corner of North England.
You been on the Joob Joobs again BTM? 🙂
On a more serious note, Bale and Hutton see much less attacking ball than Sagna and Clichy. But they’re significantly more able to deliver telling crosses, either from a 45 degree angle or from the by-line.
If S and C could raise their game in this regard, we’d have some of the telling width that Steve T craves. Gibbsy will be better – he has potential to play holding mid-fielder too if we need him to.
and on a less serioos note – BOLTONIONIS. Old age is galloping me toward spelling impontinencse.
The weekend is off to a great start as the Spuds were just mauled by Bolton. We need a nice victory tomorrow and I think we’ll get a great performance. I predict 3 – 0 to the Gunners. Cold Heineken please Barman!
BtM, having digested that explanation I must conclude it is no wonder Bolton won today!
BtM, that is pure quality. They do a much better class of mushroom where you have currently established roots 😉
Afternoon chaps.
The sorry spuds got done by the pig’s feet of Bolton (Trotters was the name you was looking for lads) I hope they enjoy their CL adventure, it will probably be a one off experience. 🙂
Good stuff from BTM and I agree that Walcott should be used as a shock and awe sub. When the legs of the barcodes are tiring, release the Theo and watch him create havoc.
I predict we/ll hace to much for the Geoardies at home, three points to keep us in the hunt.
Pint please guv’
Cheers.
Nice countdown ‘Holic. 🙂
Update on a supplementary punt tomorrow. Couldn’t resist re-investing some of the Theo wedge on 3-1 at tens with Stan James.
3-0 and I’m sticking to it ~
Oh, and for those of a certain vintage, who were at Supermac’s first game against Newcastle at Highbury, I have grabbed a bit of the 200/1 available at sportingbet for 5-3. Remember it, Clive?
Those are very interesting odds ‘Holic and if both teams open-up and throw caution to the wind – a scenario we’re no strangers to – then that might be the punt of the decade.
I wasn’t at Supermac’s first game but certainly saw one or two games in his first season for us. He was a real crowd pleaswer. Happy memories indeed 🙂
Large Jim Beam with plenty of ice please barman and one for yourself.
Supermac hat-trick, TS. I was in the Clock End, along with around ten thousand rabid Geordies, when he completed his hat-trick in front of us 🙂
Not quite as scary as being outside Roker Park at the start of the season when he stepped off the Arsenal coach and words I have never heard before or since were spat out, along with a zillion dummies…
Holic @ 89
I do indeed remember the swaggering’ bow legged’ one in all his pomp and glory, top quality hat trick against the Newcs.
He played 41 league games that season and scored 25 goals.
Not a bad return considering we were a fairly average team that year.
Frank Stapelton played 40 games alongside him, what would we give now to have 2 strikers playing virtually the whole season in tandem missing only 3 league games between them.
We finished 8th 14 pts behind Liverpool that season, and we lost almost as many games as we won,16 w,15 defeats.
To say we were mediocre would be an understatement.!!
Top memories ‘Holic. As an innocent 11 year old I didn’t get to indulge in the type of heroics that you described. I do remember the affection from the Arsenal fans towards him though anbd the chants of “Supermac” every time he took a shot on goal. As Clive said, he was a touch of quality in team that was distinctly average at the time.
About a decade later on my first trip to Tyneside I recall stopping and asking for directions with a colleague from Leeds. Very helpful, very friendly people. We both turned to each other after we’d thanked the locals for their help and said simultaneously “did you understand any of that???”
Happy days 🙂
I’m guessing at a 2-1 win today and that it’ll be a very close run thing. If you get your 5-3, hopefully you’ll make enough wedge to release your own commemorative DVD.

holic @ 91
I’m intrigued as to what were you doing slumming it with 10,000
mostly shirtless if i remember rightly, black and whites.
I thought you were a North Bank boy, although i’m assuming you were still a callow youth in those days and perhaps the North Bank was out of bounds.???
Enlighten me please.
Come on Arsenal it’s 3 points we need on our side of the ledger so let’s put in the performance we need.
Flappy back to his normal game, knew it was too good to be true that he might develop into a goalkeeper, the utter mug.
flappy? Why oh why oh why????
It wasn’t his fault…our performance in the 1st half left much to be desired. This reminds me of the WBA game at home. Same thing, we’ve been poor
a strong whisky for me ‘holic. my day has gotten worse… just got back from a friend’s funeral to see my beloved arsenal go one-nil down…
cesc was off-key today. unbelievable performance.
*prays for a torres-gerrard combo to keep the lead at 5 points*
Fabianski was at fault but what else did the others create?
Dejavu
Shocking absolutely Shocking…!
Ivan. Are you seriously saying he was not at fault for the goal?
Just on the train home. Personally i think that was just embarrassing shite. I will save the rest for when i have calmed down.
Spot on Arthur. We created fuck all. They are the biggest team i have seen there this season. So i know what we will do? We will hit long aimless balls into the middle to give their centre backs some heading practise. Embarrassing. Very very embarrassing.
It’s a case of same old same old I’m afraid we are a good side but not good enough oh well onwards and upwards best make it a pint and a chaser with some of Colombias finest marching powder to be starting with 😉
So naive…
Nothing looked like breaching their defense… Something is definitely bothering Cesc cause he was awful…
We keep shooting ourselves in the leg. So frustrating.
On the bright side of life Scousers have just scored, come on Pool
Keep the ball on the ground….erm…no we failed….annoyed….more than
Bloody hell that was painful to watch, but well done to the Toon who made us look like a bit of a Mickey Mouse outfit.
Drinks please barman……and lots of them, there s sorrows that need to be drown.
“Fabianski will be sorely tested… by Carroll… on set pieces.”
Why’d you say it, Mr. Holic, why’d you say it?
Let’s just hope this clears the path for Szczeny- I’d love to see him get a run and see what we’ve got.
If Liverpool will beat Chelsea today it’ll be even more frustrating, Chelsea loses to City and we fail to capitalize and lose to West Brom, Chelsea loses to Liverpool and we lose to Newcastle.
How the fuck can you win the title like that!?
Well, it’s a bit too early to get desperate…
Keep the faith 🙁
glass half full….nobody looks unbeatable this season……
if we lose no ground all we’ve lost is 1/38th of the season….. Liverpool surely can’t chuck this away
“Ivan. Are you seriously saying he was not at fault for the goal?”
Steve – I think it’s unfair to lay the blame on him is all. Maybe he should’ve stayed on his line, or communicated better, but then the marking and response to that free-kick was awful. So, no, I can’t single him out for that. There’s no one scapegoat tonight – it was a poor team performance. No excuses.
As for the Liverpool – Chelsea result, I think we should feel upset that we aren’t 2 points behind as opposed to taking consolation that we *might* be “only” 5 points back. This weekend has been a huge win for United but I don’t know what’s wrong with us. What happened to all that creativity, urgency, desire and spirit? Why so flat, at home of all places 🙁 It’s upsetting and I hope we can get out of whatever’s putting us down.
I guess the best way to put my thoughts on Fabianski is that, I don’t think he lost us the game. We didn’t give enough to warrant a win. Theo and Nasri had fabulous attempts which, on another day, might’ve gone in. Otherwise, we just didn’t give enough. Also, I hope that this set-piece issue gets resolved soon…it’s our big weakness and every team knows it.
Anyway, just my thoughts.
Ivan. You are quite right. He did not cost us the game. He was 100% at fault for the goal but we played embarrassingly poorly and created almost nothing.
i always fancied wenger to be more of a jazz person rather than a rap enthusiast
p.s. thank you torres
I agree, Steve T. Completely.
