Gunners Plot An Explosive Celebration?
Nov 4th, 2011 by 'holic
Boing boing, I’m getting flashbacks. The Zebidees’ are back in town, which until last season would have meant a comfortable afternoon and three guaranteed points. Of course that all changed when a spirited Baggies display combined with one ofΒ ‘those‘ Almuniacides did for us at the Grove last September. I wrote then,
It was refreshing to watch a visiting side commit numbers to attack, and not resort to the thuggish tactics employed by some of the second-class clubs and second-rate managers in the Premiership.
I’ve had a soft spot for the Albion since the Hawthorns was the first ground I travelled to without the ‘holicdad outside London, as the 1971 double season drew to a fabulous conclusion. Add to that the fact that they are now managed by everyones favourite uncle and you just can’t get too mad at them, can you? A golden wedding anniversary celebration means I won’t be able to take up my seat in the vicinity of the visitors bench, which is a shame because I could have shared a Wurthers or two with Uncle Woy.
Is it likely that lightning could strike twice? Frankly, it really shouldn’t. Since that painful reverse at Ewood Park seven weeks ago we have played ten, winning eight and drawing one. Of those fixtures the one that was most conclusive came at Stamford Bridge last Saturday as John Terry chose to graze on the tainted pasture in Fulham. We have, as they say, momentum.
The visitors have lost Long (victim to a Shawcrossing by Hutton at Villa, lest we forget), Scharner, and possibly Odemwingie, which is ancient Nigerian for never going to sign for Arsenal no matter what my agent puts in the press. We, on the other hand, have at last a real series of selection posers for monsieur Wenger. I’m usually pretty sure of the side that will be put out at the weekend, but there are games, and this could well be one of them, where Arsene throws a curve ball into his selection.
What he will choose to do with his three centre-backs I don’t know. None of the three deserves to miss out, but only two places are available. Koscielny at right-back, or Vermaelen on the left, would be popular compromises ahead of the event, but I would prefer not to see players being played out of their comfort zone when points are so necessary. Similarly cases could be made for four players for the two wide attacking positions. I have a feeling there may be a rest on the bench for either Theo or Gervinho, but again don’t ask me which.
Robin van Persie will have the privilege of leading a side that should realise they are all playing for places as the once overcrowded treatment room becomes more sparsely populated. For that reason one would expect the side to show the sort of effort and application that yielded such remarkable rewards at Stamford Bridge, where the chairman has been mercifully quiet in recent days. I am tempted back to the path of the bullish with the ‘holic pound.
Odds on an Arsenal win are understandably not too generous. Despite the offer of 5/1 against an Arsenal win last Saturday these fellas are not charities. Chelsea and Manchester United have both beaten the Baggies by the odd goal in three this season, but I fancy us to fare better. I’m on 4-0, widely available at 16/1. Now watch Jerome Thomas ruin that by scoring in the opening minutes.
As usual, I wish those that are going a great day. Have a pint for me as I will be dry until early evening. Those, who like me will be stream-hunting, why not drop into the drinks and we’ll share the working ones we can find.
Enjoy your weekend ‘holics.

1st?
yeah!!! my first 1st after returning!! now to read the post.
Happy wedding anniversary holic, may you have many more.
Tee Hee your a winner
Roxette has me as designated driver tomorrow on a fools errand round about when the second half kicks off. The last time that happened we were 4 up against Newcastle……so, hope you’ve got that lightening unlikely to strike twice bit right ‘Holic. (Last time round I nearly crashed the car when the equaliser went in)
Scharner being out is good news for us, as he tends to put himself about a bit, so hopefully less chance of thuggery and a decent game of football. I quite like the idea of an eerily silent treatment room (if this keeps up there will only be Jack and Diaby left to play cards….)
3 points please – any which way.
Oh and as an extra wish, a slight strain that will put Robin out for 10 days and miss the meaningless interlull.
Top 5? Europa League for me…. π
That Shawcrossing by Hutton on Long was awful, it could have been much worse.
Yet another massive game for us tomorrow, we need to keep up the pressure on the teams ahead of us. But it’s all up to us, if we match them for work rate then we will win the game.
Altogether now….
Five nil to the Ar-se-nal, five nil to the ar-se-nal….
Lovely post ‘holic. The phrase “as John Terry chose to graze on the tainted pasture in Fulham” is a thing of great, great beauty.
As always, charming and insightful in equal measure. You are a legend.
Good luck with both the ‘holic pound and the Golden Wedding anniversary – have a splendid time. See you at the next one – you will be missed π
TS is right snowy. You are a good man. Pintage will be shared at the Fulham game, I hope?
Gunpowder plot? Nice title.
Evening Holic and Holics ,
Great preview Holic .
“and possibly Odemwingie, which is ancient Nigerian for never going to sign for Arsenal no matter what my agent puts in the press” – Pure Class , Holic π
Lovely way to start an evening being reminded of good old Frank Mclintock , bashing one in from a yard at the Hawthorns . Never been there myself , but like you retain a bit of a soft spot for the Baggies .
This is largely due to the fact that at school we had a chap who even at about the age of 12 , was clearly eccentric and determined to plough his own furrow . Seduced by Cunningham , Regis , and the like he became a passionate devotee , and , no plastic he , went to all their home games and all their London away games , even when that side was sold off and the Baggies fell on hard times . He was clearly mad however ( he used to argue Bryan Robson was a better player than Chippy !!) , and I imagine he’s now in some sort of asylum , telling his carers all they need to know about Len Cantello .
My guess tomorrow is that Per may get a rest , and that AA might get the nod in front of Flipper . Holic pound very bullish (good to see) , but I’ll go for a conservative 2-0 to the Arse .
Obviously late to the party re the last round , but just wanted to say great work from all the usual suspects , Many Happy Returns Arthur , great cake Holic , and splendid solo effort 8ball .
Clive , a clean-living carriage ? Whatever next ! π
Have a good one Holics . A single malt for me and whatever anybody else is having .
I’ll be there Maestro π
‘Lightening’ could strike twice?
Oh dear, how drunk is ‘holic?
Wenger said today that the leading pack will drop points. They will. We have a run of games now that, if we keep our heads and RVP’s glass bones intact, should to bring us back to our rightful place among the medals. But it starts tomorrow. 8 in 10 is irrelevant. That’s history. Forward Gunners!!
Just making up the gallon, Ollie, before heading on to the delicious malt π
Holic , forgot to mention , very remiss of me , hearty congrats on the Golden . Wishing you a marvellous day , topped off by an Arsenal win of course .
Not MY golden, for goodness’ sake. How old do I look FFS? π
Thank you sub-ed. The spellchecker missed it because it is valid…
oh – it appears tabs is on the naughty step now π
Well in 8ball – you dodged one there.
Brace for impact tabs π
Ah apologies Holic . Truth is had no idea how long a “golden” was , thought it might be 25 , and had you down for about 43 π
Me on the naughty step getting treated by Wolfie ? Might be interesting Snowy π
Ha tabs, put a pair of size 11s right in it there…..
Holic, watching the Arsenal through the fallow years has aged us all π
Nice recovery mate π
Phew !!
RvP is a true captain. Just have a look at his tweets about the award he got.
#signhimup!
tabs – apparently ‘self-assisting’ can be undertaken anything up to 17 times in an evening, if the drinks of last night are anything to go by, eh 8ball?
Enjoy the naughty step tabs π
If you look closely in these pictures you can catch a glimpse of the very rare Lesser Spotted Diaby.

Evening Tabs
There should be room for all on the Happy Train, healthy or otherwise.
Holic,
We probably weren’t too far apart at the Hawthorns in 71,enjoyable day from memory, but slightly tainted by what i thought at the time was a dropped point we could do without.
Worth noting that Brom have scored far more goals away from home this season than at their own ground.
Although with their strikers out injured,it would be an even bigger shock than last season if we don’t knock them over with the minimum of fuss.
TS from previous drinks,
Well spotted the 3.57am posting,
I had just come back from 50 laps of Hyde Park and had completed my thrice daily 1,000 push ups and sit ups,and just thought i would pop on to Holics blog as i was having my steam fusion, ginseng laced Green Tea.!!
Cheers
The sweeper.
Geez , gotta say I’ve had better weeks . I’m on the naughty step , Wolfie is still locked in a cupboard , and Carlos Kickemhard is being pulled in two opposing directions by Feelgood on the one hand and the Good Doctors on the other . π
*retreats to naughty step , looks longingly at the Bar , but furtively hides bottle of single malt . All is not lost *
As much as I love the big German, TV and Kos would be my first choice central pairing when healthy. They are both incredibly fast without giving up that much aerial strength relative to Per. Can’t remember the last time I had complete confidence in three healthy CB’s.
Evening Clive , and heh π
You are of course quite right , room for all on the HT . You may remember that at the last Board meeting , Smallballs was a passionate advocate for all your demands , even volunteering to do a bit of butlering ! Feelgood however , with two eyes firmly on the bottom line (of Green Eyes) vetoed it
My recollection of events may not be accurate . I had of course drank an unhealthy amount of Ginseng tea that day π
What, ‘Holic an octogenarian?
Perish the thought…
BMBD!
Feelgood IS the Good Doctor
In case you hadn’t noticed π
‘holic, Happy anniversary whatever color it may be, and same to the management.
Clive, That leaves 30 laps more to go. We want you in shape. π
Please note, ‘Hols, I’m not saying that I DON’T wish you to one day reach octogenarian status…
BMBD!
Zico
Apropros my request in the previous drinks, re bathroom facilities for the CHLS Carriage,i have had a request from Mr and Mrs Dwarf, who has pointed out than when he thinks he is a she,she will need to use the Ladies facilities,so he/she has requested His and Hers Bathrooms.
Also he/she/they have also asked that you provide a small step ladder in each facility to allow him/her to reach firstly the Toilet seat and then the wash basin.
For those not privy to previous posts, the Dwarf suffers from MPD on a regular basis, this of course can be catastophic ,particularly during sex, when she suddenly thinks she is he,and vice versa.
Hope that clarifies things.
I await the Boards response
Yours etc etc
Clive.
TaBS,
Be of good cheer, mate. I know from personal experience, prior to my sabatical from the bar, that the naughty step can have its advantages…
For example, street-walkers pass by the naughty step – their type aren’t allowed into the bar per management.
BMBD!
@34 – The officials are consulting, it’s down to ‘interpretation’, and 8ball may yet be back on the naughty step!
End to end stuff this one π
*reaches out through the window and hands tabs a pint*
Obviously on a pint or seven I am a tad vague, or obtuse if you prefer.
The golden wedding anniversary is a couple of old friends who are coming up from Devon to celebrate with a whole bunch of us who used to hang out together, eating drinking and making merry on Saturday nights.
To celebrate their remarkable achievement we are getting together one more Saturday to eat, drink, and make merry, although I suspect the eating and making merry will play a very poor second fiddle.
And you have to know they have to be a very special couple to keep me from the Grove for a home game. They are.
Tabs @ 31
Yes i do remember the previous Board meeting re my outrageous demands, but i did point out as gently as possible that Wolfie could under no circumstances do any Butlering for me.
As i mentioned, the Voluptuous Cicilia was going to accompany me as my ‘ Aide De Camp ‘ and having led a very sheltered life,i feared the shock to her system when confronted by Wolfie in his usual attire, would haunt her for years to come.
C is currently on Sabbatical from the Secure Unit,no surprise there as she has told me the Unit is not the same with me absent until mid 2012.
cheers
Clive
Nice preview ‘holic, sir.
I’m off down to the bar, drinks of choice for the regs’.
The arses are too intellectual tonight.
Anyway, off to bed early. I have an early start tomorrow morning, as I have an appointment with my chauffeur at quarter to 10 at St Pancras.
I shall kill someone if the ST has problems.
Goodnight folks!
Snowy,
My legal training leads me to conclude that TaBS, 8ball, and Usama may be victims of “entrapment.” Although ‘Holic’s prose is stellar, the phrase leading to much of this kerfuffle, upon further review, is not up to his usual quality standard.
“A golden wedding anniversary celebration means I wonβt be able to take up my seat in the vicinity of the visitors bench”
Although careful reading of the clause in question clearly shows that ‘Holic was refering to “A” golden anniversary, and not “his” golden anniversary, a cursory pan of the text could understandably lead an inattentive reader to conclude ‘Holic was at least 80 years old.
And a more quick-witted 80 year-old, one could not hope to find. Punishment could rightly be meted out for being inattentive in reading ‘Holics missives. (Shameful, I know).
I’m just not certain that this interpretive oversight merits “naughty-step” deprivations.
BMBD!
Snowy
Can you please explain how a late ‘ blow in’ like yourself,
Wonderful raconteur though you may be,
Can suddenly be ‘ fast tracked ‘into the inner sanctum of the quite frankly,Laughable ‘ Medical Team ‘ on the HT.??
Did folding stuff change hands,??
Did you have to submit to an ‘ Internal ‘ examination from WSB,??
Or are you just Pretty.??
please explain
regards
Clive
Lonestar @ 44 – my personal attorney – one Denny Crane, managing partner of Boston-based firm Crane Poole & Schmidt – has assured me that as soon as a ‘holic uses phrases such as “not up to his usual standard” and “quick witted 80-year old” they are, frankly, on a hiding to nothing…
The naughty step could get quite crowded tonight…I hope Staff Nurse Wolfie has been taking his ginseng as he’s gonna have a busy evening π
Inattentive reading (first offence). Penalty: naughty step.
Inattentive reading while under the influence of 7 or more pints (any offence). Penalty: none
Sweet justice. π
Names have been taken π
Oh, and I picked the wrong 20/1 shot in the filly & mare sprint at the breeders cup, so I need the cash that litigation will surely yield this fair eve.
If there’s one player I don’t want at Arsenal is Granero.
He is so poor.
I wouldn’t pick him in my 5 asides
Lonestar – you’re hired , though slightly apprehensive of hourly rate . I know it costs a lot to keep a man in Llamas .
Lars – You are a scholar and a Gentleman . Cheers .
Clive – a sensible decision re the Butlering . Its not as though Cecilia spends all her working hours with mad men or if memory serves in regard to your wonderful postcards from the SU , the “delinquents” , is it ? π
Sweeper @ 45 – I can assure you I am about as far from any ‘inner sanctum’ as could be….
On most occasions, it’s quite a relief, truth be told π
Maybe AW will resolve his CB selection conundrum by switching to 3-4-3, with Santos and Jenkinson playing the laterals in the middle four. If we can’t defend anyway, might as well make a virtue of it.
Tabs
Good Point
But i fear absolutely nothing the lovely C has faced at the Secure Unit, could prepare her for WSB in full flight.!!
Anyway i am off for the evening now,as i going to have Phone Sex with a girl called Ruby Thursday,
I could be gone for a while.!!
cheers
The Sweeper.
The Doctors are quiet tonight Snowy .
Reckon they’re probably hatching a pretty cunning plan .
Methinks , you could be in for another busy weekend , presenting the public face of the quackery . π
Have a good one , Clive π
I believe Wolfie Smallballs once had phone sex , but we won’t go into that .
Inattentive reading, Quackery, and/or other negligence resulting from the consumption of 7 or more pints are all offenses punishable by a fine of no less then $120.00 USD (pending this weekend’s punting)
All fines are to be paid directly into my now yawning Swiss account.
Confidentially Yours,
Hugh Lewis Dewey: Attorney
Sr. Associate Partner: Dewey,Cheatam &Howe
*gets cheque book out whilst dialling Lonestar *
tabs @ 54 – generally I don’t like to enquire where the good doctors may be of an evening, for fear I may actually find out. But last I saw they were practising some new form of yoga…
So wherever they may be, I assume they are suitably ‘relaxed’.
π
Ah , that explains it Snowy π
I think it’s time you left the cupboard now, Nurse Wolfie.
Now you’re out (!), could you help me look for my tie? Had it on my arm a while ago, but f8ck knows where it is now.
Dr T gone, Nurse ABB, I fear, seems to not be “up for it”. Just you and me now, me old son. I miss Little Helpa, but she has proved mighty useful in getting that thug Carlos onto our side.
Well, her and those videos that (Dr’s Friend) Snowy managed to obtain…
Dedicated to Nurse Wolfie, serving all those lonely hours in the quackery with nary a gentleman around (Drs. C. and T. excepted, of course):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltRwmgYEUr8
Thank you Dr C , I do so much like to be “out” .
Yes indeed , the future of the Quackery rests in our hands , takes you back to the good old days of Kenneth Williams and Joan Sims . What a double act , what a team . They knew how to play Doctors and Nurses eh !
Anyway , work to be done , I’m going deep deep undercover (though not Commando , a man must keep his dignity , and in my book that means his Speedoes ) . May be out of communication for some time , (well until tomorrow ) , so until then Doc , keep up the good fight .
I have left your usual night relaxer on the Bar , and there’s a drink there as well π
Thank you 8ball , definitely off now to practice a bit of synchronised dancing π
Tomorrow fellas .
@Tabs #57
Go west old man.
Nice post ‘Holic
Its gonna be my 1st game sitting in Club Level, courtesy of the Daily Mail and BT π mind you, but who turns down free tickets to go see the Arsenal?
A madman, that’s who.
3-1 or 4-0 for the home side tomorrow, I can feel it (hopefully)
Thankfully, I’ve never seen my beloved Arsenal lose live (vs Shrewsbury, Bolton x2) and I don’t plan to start tomorrow.
Up the REDS!
Hope you put the wind up the Baggies, Wind.
Enjoy.
I’m off – never a good idea to be seen when Wolfie is “out” after dark.
PS Lars – it’s booked, thanks for your help mate.
Love the wordplay Zico! π
I’ll do my best, have a good night mate.
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Arsenal-transfer-gossip-Esteban-Granero-of-Real-Madrid-is-not-a-target-says-Arsene-Wenger-article826985.html
AW ruled out Arsenal signing Arteta as well but I’d be delighted if we don’t sign Granero.
Some interesting quotes by AW on the change in the game re defensive adaptation.
“It depends who we play against and who is the most tired or who is the fittest. I think Vermaelen and Koscielny are very good and quicker.
βMertesacker is a leader who can organise very well and is good in the air, tall. It depends what mixture we need. That will decide who plays.β
Ultimately AW has decided to go with a back 4 which depends on the opposition, that is something I am very much (despite a lot of people here disagreeing with me in the summer, but the difficulties we face against certain teams lead me to think this way) in favor of.
TV and Kos should play against fleet footed, techincal teams and Mertesacker and TV should play against Rugby teams.
All my opinion of course.
Have a good day, Wind.
Club Level, eh? Free half-time beer and wine. Take a tip. Go for the wine π
Great post holic! Maybe I’ll join you in the bar in between streams as well π
I always enjoy a game against the Baggies. Good folk, if not a little strange. I can remember making a trip up there a few years back. I met an old pal who was a Baggies season ticket holder. It was an evening game. He took me to an “old favourite” of a pub as he called it, especially as we could get a bite to eat. On his recommendation I went for the roast pork baguette. All sounds delightful when it was to be washed down by a local brew. My meal arrived. Hot roast pork in a white baguette and all drenched in gravy. What kind of people put gravy on a sarnie??????
Number 1 son coming with me tomorrow and he cant wait. I have told him to take his boots. He can be quite creative from the centre mid position. He may be needed for the last 20.
The back four will surely include The Jenk and Santos on the flanks. Then 2 from 3 for the middle. Lets hope that Shezza has had his wake up call and rash decisions are now a thing of the past. RVP is flying and if we get a good start I can see a goal feast. Whether we keep a clean sheet or not may be down to not giving away silly free kicks or corners. Set pieces still seem to haunt us. Regardless of the obvious frailty I am still predicting a comfortable victory.
Top post holic. I hope by 5pm on Saturday we can raise 3 toasts. One to the happy couple on 50 years, one to Guy Fawkes, the last man to enter parliament with honest intentions and one to a convincing Arsenal victory.
Onwards and upwards dear holics. Keep the faith.
I think I’m going to go with me old faithful for tomorrow if the weather permits and say 3-1 to the Arsenalge!
Dr C –
could you please advise. I have absolutely no idea who around here is now regarded, no,not retarded, regarded as a Doctor and who isn’t.
There are drug-crazed Americans, busty brunette “Senior Physicians”, European regulator “Doctor’s friends”, some stark raving DLL Director masquerading as a Doctor, and don’t even begin to talk about the nurses, who range from the under-qualified to the testicularly challenged devotees of transvestism.
Example: where the hell is “Nurse” ABB ?
I have twice already assigned her the task of observing and reporting on the activities of Patient Gingganggoolie.
The deluded boy has already admitted that his feelings for Robin van Persie have progressed way beyond love, and he has now, some two months early, begun to fantasise about strings of potential arrivers in the January transfer window.
And what has ABB reported ? Nothing, Absent without leave as per normal.
In my enforced absence, I suggest you take ABB aside, not ‘sideways’ like last time, and instill some discipline into her. A thorough re-examination of her credentials wouldn’t go amiss either, old chap.
I believe Staff Nurse Wolfie still has the paddles if ABB is reluctant to reveal all. π
And it’s Goodnight from him π
8ball – 25 pre-assists is not on !! π
A roadtrip to Shenandoah National Park means I will have to catch up on the match later:(
Here’s to 3 more points tomorrow. Onward and upwards! Come on you reds!
Dr T – I only fantasize about potential arrivals now because everybody else is busy talking nonsense so I’m trying to get everybody back on track π
Come on Arsenal!!!!!!!!!!!!
Destroy the Baggies and all the evidence!!!!!!!!!
Let Clive have a few clandestine puffs though, he being a Gooner in need!!!
Well, if no one else will do it, then I wil;
Ollie@43.
This is the “drinks”, dear sir, the “arses” are elsewhere. (although, they may have been too intellectual too, I couldn’t say π ) Enjoy your trip tomorrow.
========
Bearded.@30.
Let’s not underestimate the value of the BFG. IMHO a great signing, he may be slow, but he has an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time. But, I agree, how great is it that we can discuss who our best CB duo are? Damn it feels good to be spoilt for choice.
========
Clive. All due respect sir.
My comments on the previous drinks against a healthy carridge on the HT were in jest, please except a fruit juice of choice.
For fellow unhealthy “holics, a round of voddie shots on me, cheers.
Come on Arsenal and ‘holics. Let’s focus on West Brom and taking the 3 points. Home fixture and Lower half opposition (at least they should be, I haven’t checked the table), but no excuse not to focus our energies.
Is it possible to rest RVP and hand Park his PL debut? Any chance to put off injury to our “only world class player” is fine by me. Although we’d probably have to bring him on at the hour along with probably TR7 and Theo as he may get a rest.
As for an update ( if anyone cares) Titi played a good game last night but, looks like he may have taken on a role as player manager, telling everyone where to be and encouraging, even when it’s an awful ball played. He also seems to be playing almost more of a CAM role until he is absolutely needed up front. But, it is funny to watch him put a slight beating on Becks throughout the game. It was my first time seeing him play in person so, even now, as most here, I was in awe of his touch. And while watching I couldn’t stop watching him, almost as if I was making the old lady jealous… It was our anniversary after all.
I took every chance to acknowledge and appreciate his play and spit vile at Robbie Keane however, as a LA Galaxy fan, geographically of course, I got my desired result and had a pleasant evening with the management so it was most deffinately a win win. The almost mighty but not, Galaxy look to Sunday and hope to make it to the cup final.
Cheers ‘Holics and pints for everyone in the bar. And a juice for the sweeper, of course.
You forgot to mention his beautiful assist. Majestic.
Wasn’t it? I sat next to the away supporters, so I was hoping I may get a chance to get a pic but, the Subs warmed up about a yard away. Eh, still wanted a chance to shake the mans hand and thank him.
zico@66: great, happy I could help!
A few hours ’til kick-off. Let’s get the three points!
Here’s an upbeat article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/nov/04/arsene-wenger-stays-humble-arsenal
In it, Wenger says RVP will start against WBA and other interesting stuff.
Morning all. I trust we are all well?
Hey bb gooners add this bb pin for more 24hr discusions and min by min football updates only arsenal news ppls 27C6CDC9
Morning ‘holic. An eerily quiet one. I just finished a highly satisfying “debut screening” of Man United 1 Man City 6. Priceless expressions at the end on the faces of Evra, Ferdinand, et al.
Today my cable package is showing QPR v. Man City, with a later recorded showing of Arsenal v. WBA. My trusty DVR is set to record the recording so I will be able to see it later even if a stream doesn’t work out. Come on Arsenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Morning all, any ‘holics at The Tolly today? I’ve going to the game and would be good to meet you
Morning Holics….shit it’s afternoon already apologies!
I stopped drinking few hours ago….I think for the very first time in my life I have drunk me self sober….
Cone on you Goooners I will read the post now!
It sounds like Blogs has a couple of quid on Santos to score first at 18-1. Not too unlikely. Maybe he couldn’t get odds on Santos both scoring and conceding first. π
Dr T @74 ,
“to the testicularly challenged devotees of transvestism”
All too true , but did it need to be said ? A nurse has feelings , you know . π
I will look forward to hearing your views post-op . It is of course a matter of some importance to me .
*heh* @ tabs @ 17
It’s Saturday, Arsenal are playing, it’s perfectly natural for the figure ‘5’ to spring to mind eh π
Geoff, if they are there, they will be outside on the right bit (looking at the Tollie from the road)
Afternoon All ,
Had hoped to do some expert goalhanging , but it does appear rather quiet today , so not wishing to do a self-assisted “8ball” , I shall content myself with wishing you all good luck for today .
Come on the Arsenal !!
Dr Z @5 – I see you’re driving Roxette around today . I presume you faced your usual cordon of Guiness last night . Too late for you to say ” I think I’m still over the limit Darling . Best stay home and watch the football , just to be on the safe side ” ? Just trying to help . π
Quite right Mark π
Geoff , won’t be there myself today , but as Mark says anyone there are generally under the back umbella . Find a red haired frenchman and you’ve found Ollie .
Enjoy the posh seats , Wind .
Bugger , I can’t leave it at 98 can I .
Goalscorer extraordinaire floats in a delicious cross for someone to bang home ….
Afternoon ‘Holic & ‘Holics
It looks like I missed out on a frenetic evening and night of drinking in the bar yesterday. Some highly amusing and interesting contributions from the regulars up there, top work lads.
Clive @ #45 – Have you been sharpening your tongue on poor old Comrade Snowy? I can assure you that none of the DLL board (with the possible exception of Professor Edwin aka Mr. Naive) wouldn’t accept bribes or sexual favours if they were offered (ahem) π
8 Ball @ #91 – The Storey pound is aligned with The Blogs pound.
tabs/snW/WS/CK – I am starting to lose track of your alter egos. Congratulations, have an extra drink on my tab π
H2H @ #79 – Totally agree re: our BFG. His contribution has been significant this season.
Dr. T @ #74 – My thoughts exactly, great stuff π
zico @ #33 – He is ‘one of four’…. and no relation to ‘Seven of Nine’ *knees begin to tremble*
Cheers all, drinks on my tab for a change and most importantly today…
UTA! COYRRRs!
Class finish TS π
Heh tabs. The most accidental century ever? π
Care to predict the score against Woys Boys this afternoon?
…. er… or have you already suggested a 2-0 to The Arse? π³
Yep sticking with 2-0 , but hoping ‘Holic is on the money .
Time for me to get my skates on . Drink for you on the Bar TS .
‘Holic, forgot to say loved this bit;
“…For that reason one would expect the side to show the sort of effort and application that yielded such remarkable rewards at Stamford Bridge, where the chairman has been mercifully quiet in recent days…”
I hope to Dennis that the level of the performance applied at The Bridge can be repeated. With regards to Mr.Buck of The Bust Stop (heh), The Arsenal Gent has done his very best to to tempt the f*cker out of his silence since his previous ill-advised outburst π
Cheers tabs, enjoy the game… at ‘The Juicer of choice’ presumably?
You got it , TS π
Have a good one , and catch you later .
Any one have a recommended stream?
tabs @ 95 – I’ve already used that “get out of jail” card, this season.
Whilst well intentioned, your suggestion is liable to end up in physical violence. And I’m a bit too weak to take on Roxette today. I’ve still to negotiate my pass for Everton next month, despite having purchased North Bank tickets, travel and accommodation!! Walking on eggshells till then. π
Now, who’s got the link to the best stream(s)?
Phew, woke up just in time. Bar open, tv on.
COYRRR

Another fox in the box
URedS!
A little fumbling in the box from Ramsey again, Gervinho having a quiet game today
Seems to be a feelgood factor about the place, with apologies to the good Doctor π
WBA looking very poor so far. Surely they’ll raise their game in the second half?
“But Arsenal haven’t really played too well in this half.”
Commentary off.
Joshua
Don’t know how you stood it so long. Arse Player always good vfm.
Come on Arsenal!
Holic still recogvering Carling Cup at hand!
Lol, commentary really is shit isn’t it? I think they hired Mancunian streetcleaners to do it…
Someone is looking worried!
Is that CUNT VDV?
A bit preamture maybe but if we win by 5 goals and Liverpool draw (currently 0-0), we’ll go 6th.
I turned hit mute, but the sound came back when I refreshed (poor internet connection). Promptly turned it back off.
Apologies vdv
142Joshua

Good work, ta.

RRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Yip, Arthur, you certainly sound pissed π
Captain Van the Man really did a job for Numpties that half. π
Come on Arsenal. This has the makings of a great day if we can put in a shift in the second half.
Zico do you know any spelling Arsenal schools?
I’m pretty drunk here too…watching a stream while wearing my 2002 shirt…the spirit of Ljungberg is coursing through me right now…
Any thoughts on the game so far? I think we’re keeping fairly solid at the back but when they target the area between Kos and Jenks we seem to waver a little… we look really threatening going forward which is good.
Never be Polish and BTW free WISNOWKA is on the BAR! π
@ 158 Cannons of Rhetoric
TOP MAN! π
I saw this random tweet on the beeb
“25 years ago today, when Alex Ferguson took over at Manchester United the bottom 4 clubs were Chelsea, Man united, Newcastle United, and Man City. The top 4 today? The same.”
Ultimate tippy-tappy and West Brom are letting us play. Could be a few bob coming here…
Holic you must of had enough of me at half time lets FUCKING break them!
Jenkinson is A GEM!
That wizzed down the post!
don’t wanna jinx the boy, but Jenkinson just keeps getting better
UReDS!
AL
Agreed!
With all due respect this ref is a bit the “C” word!
Cakes and beers?
Jenkinson playing as well as anyone in the team.
That’s what i like to see. Gooners enjoying them fucking selves!
Competent first half, 3 points are guarunteed!
U got there first i see ATG – looks like the boy’s quality is really starting to reveal itself!
Big shout out to Arsene and the scouts – unless the lad has a mare from here
CoMOnUReDs!

Meerkat to be the last scorer for a cheeky extra pound?
Arshavin to top up the Cherry!
Come on Arshavin. Grab one for the ‘Holic.
Remember they only lost 2-1 to Chelsea.
Remember they only lost 2-1 to Manchester United.
We are the Arsenal and we are the best,
We are the Arsenal so **** all the rest.
Lovin it like that…
I’m sorry what is the ball possesion in this game?
Love it holic! A bit of scary moment π
*heh* I’ve just put a sneaky quid on with sky bet, 13/1 AA next scorer π
AtG – Arsenal 59% WB 41%
To be fair our visitors are getting demolished!
This is top stuff.
I don’t want to get premature, but I think we may actually be a little stronger across the squad than 12 months ago. We spent very, vert well in the summer and Rambo is a year better.
Couple that with an unusually wobbly Chelsea and Utd and life is sweet.
All this and Jack still to come. It’s good to be a gooner.
They only lost 3:0 to ARSENAL!
Joshua is that true stats?
Yep,

Bad luck on the pound Holic… but *heh* 3 – fekking nil will do me every weekend! π π π
Ah, so near, yet so far π
Well played boys π
ReeeSult!
UReDS!
π π π indeed
“Can we play every week?”
Heh, the Mickeys drew 0-0 home to the sheep shaggers π
I hear you N7
that was a veritable stroll…I figured Roy would come in damage containment mode and with two of their best players out today I’m glad we put them to the sword without difficulties.
Ramsey was immense, shame he couldn’t get a goal to top it off, Arteta=amazing, RVP was awesome as usual, Song was a boulder in midfield, Kos+Verm worked really well together and corporal Jenkinson was manning the right like a real soldier…
Manure had to rely on an owngoal from their ex-player Brown to get past “worldbeaters” Sunderland, Chelsea were also unconvincing against Blackburn, Liverpool couldn’t even beat Swansea…let’s hope our competition continues to stumble.
Was that another clean sheet?
Oh and best of all, we now have a positive goal difference!
Pop open the bubbly π
A straightforward day at the office. Done, dusted and home, barely breaking sweat.
Sorry they couldn’t squeeze out a fourth goal for you, ‘Holic.
CoR @ 205 & 207 : I’ve got to admit it’s getting better, A little better all the time…
A couple more goals today and we’d be joint fifth.
I hate the interlull.
bt8b @ 206: It was indeed
With clean sheets and a dirty mind, We both need somewhere to pass the time…
AW is so sneaky in his pressers…
He’s been bigging up Santos’ offensive contribution all week and then Santos barely crosses the halfway line in the game…
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> it’s up!
