The Little People First-Foot It Into Fourth
Jan 1st, 2012 by 'holic
‘holic, why do you always try to write up the matches so quickly?
Because at my age you tend to forget what happened, especially if New Years Eve occurs in between the final whistle and the first character I press on the keyboard.
I see we beat Queens Park Rangers by the most memorable of Arsenal scorelines. One-nil, I like that. It suggests the visiting supporters will be extremely irked, and full of irritating ‘what might have been’ thoughts. Doubly frustrating, ha-ha.
I do have vague recollections of a very Wolves like experience with us struggling rather more than we ought to against limited opposition. I’m sure Szczesny had a save to make from little Seany early doors, and I remember little Theo sprinting clear, opening his body Henry-like, and hooking it into deep rough when presented with a clear opportunity.
Other than that I can only see our much-maligned little Russian sliding an inch-perfect pass to a man who could do little wrong in 2011. Although as I write that I am now recalling the deadly van Persie might have had a first half hat-trick prior to clinching three points that lift us to fourth place.
So with our London rivals slipping and sliding it made for a very enjoyable celebration for most last night. I have to confess I was largely distracted from what I thought would occupy my mind. Good company, along with several bottles of champagne, port, red wine, and whisky, seemed to have the effect of making the evening more pleasant than I was anticipating.
I even remembered to raise a glass to Miss T at midnight. You have to remind yourself at times that not everybody is enjoying the same good fortune as yourself. As for the rest of you, I hope you are full of the joys this morning, and I wish you a happy and healthy 2012.
Sorry I couldn’t remember more…

You beat blogs all right!
Happy New Year ‘holics!
1st drink of 2012. To paraphrase Withnail and I ‘A pint of booze please !’
There’s something to be said about write-ups that just recount your day and emotions over ones that deal with facts and available all over the place.
The fact that we won this time of course negates the need for remembering contentious decisions by yet another awful referee ๐
Drinks for all in the bar.
Did we have a game yesterday???????
Happy new year to one and all.
Pretty good recollection GH..
The first 25 minutes were absolutely dire, we just didnโt show up, fortunately for us QPR didnโt offer much threat.
After that things improved a bit, defensively I thought we were OK throughout, Djourou who had a mare against Wolves was better today although this was probably helped because QPR didnโt exploit our obvious weakness at right back for some reason.
Song started off quietly but put in a good shift especially in the 2nd half, Ramsay was mixed; some good stuff but too often he spurned the obvious and decisive pass and chose the wrong option.
Traore had Walcott completely in his pocket through, and that tells you all you need to know, the final straw was Walcottโs abysmal miss when he was put through one on one with their keeper (which prompted the guy sitting next to me to say โand he wants to play as a striker?โ) before being put out of his misery by being subbed.
Arshavin had his usual stinker but there was one isolated piece of quality when he put RVP in for the only goal. I really donโt understand why Chamberlain doesnโt get a chance; he sat unused on the bench for the whole game.
Coquelin looked tidy when he came on for TV (pray it isnโt serious), and Gervinho had an impact when he replaced Walcott. Worryingly Gervinho is starting to remind me of Kleb, very skilful but consistently over elaborating near the opposition goal with little final product, his pratting about when offered a great chance by RVP at the death was awful (this was not shown on MOTD).
We could have played on for another 2 hours but the only player who would have got another goal would have been RVP, he must despair at some of the muppets heโs playing with at the moment.
The main positive to come out of this was the 3 points and the Chelsea and Spurs results (Man Uโs is irrelevant Iโm afraid although enjoyable).
Finally props to Arseblogger for pointing out that Neil Warnock is an anagram of Colin Wanker….. most appropriate given the crap that he came out with on MOTD when interviewed.
Morning and a very HNY to all!
Another fine day out yesterday at The HoF augmented by Glenn and Snowy at The ASC Bar where we watched the second-half of the Manure game. My how we cheered and sent SAF special birthday greetings.
A fairly low tempo game (esp. the first 30 mins) but we did enough and should have tucked away at least 3 or 4 (as usual) but once again itโs that man again, Captain Vantastic and his sweet left foot that saved the day. The assist from Arshavin was also sublime. As usual with refs these days, we were denied at least one clear-cut penalty but that now happen to all clubs. However, booking the wrong player (TV instead of Kos) borders on third-degree incompetence.
Stand-out players for me (RVP aside) were Szczesny, Kos and Coquelin. The Coq made a real impact when he came on and has grown in that temporary LB role even since the Villa game. (Incidentally H2H, Theo was awarded a pen at that game).
Marvellous set of results. Iโve said for months weโd be Top 4 by Xmas and itโs nice to be proved right from time-to-time (Cheers Trev @ #415).
Despite what Arsene may or may not do in the transfer window, from what I saw yesterday we really need to buy another forward player and a LB if we are to push on for the business end of the season. Even if Gibbs were fit for our next game, in my mind he still has loads to prove before being a regular starter.
On to Fulham tomorrow. That will be a really tough game. We need a win but I think a draw will also be a decent result.
PS: Neil Warnock is an absolute twatspatula for accusing Robin of being a cheat. If we were that bunch of rugby playing, mouth dribblers from Stoke then PHW would be on the blower to Bernie asking for a written apology. What a sore loser and a prat. Just because he looks like a fed-up granny waiting at a bus stop, thereโs no need to take it out on a clearly superior bunch of players and one of THE best strikers in the world today.
PPS: AL โ Itโs a shame we didnโt get to see you yesterday. In The Tollie for Leeds?
PPPS: โHolic โ thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
PPPPS: The CMC remains open. In honour of Hogmanay and a win that deserves celebration.
PPPPPS: My ramblings above have been cut and paste from previous drinks. As usual, I’m late to the party and posted just after ‘Holic pressed the new report button.
Oh Ollie. I had forgotten about Atkinson. What a complete and utter inept buffoon that man is.
Arsene missed the chance to say “I took off Vermaelen because I didn’t want the wanker in the black to send him off for a second case of mistaken identity.”
HNY holic and holics
TS not sure i can make dirty Leeds – monday nights are tricky for me at the mo – but sometime soonish in 2012 would be good
URedS!
I’VE GOT A BASTARD BEHIND MY EYES!
Happy New Year ‘holic and ‘holics!
Three points is three points and we move smoothly up to fourth.
Thanks for all the blogs in 2011 and a wonderful 2012 to you, the missus and all the other Gooners out there! COYGs…
Toby @ #10
DON’T ATTEMPT ANYTHING WITHOUT THE GLOVES!
And you Esso @ #11. See you at The Tollie again sometime soon mate.
Happy new year to all. Coffee for me whilst I catch up with the drinks :$
The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially tarts. Prostitutes for the bees. There is you’ll agree a certain je ne ses quoi oh so very special about a firm young carrot. Excuse me. Do help yourselves to another drink.
Heh TS, I really am drifting into the arena of the unwell.
Be back in a while. I need coffee. And something to eat.
Withnail does it for me everytime, Toby ๐
I’ve woken up in Spain by mistake! ๐
New Year’s Eve + 5am + 3 kids = Boilk.
best wishes for better news in 2012 Holic, and hope Miss T’s inexorable recovery mirrors that of Arsenal’s.
Missed the game but didn’t miss the sour grapes from some of the usual sore losers.
Warnock saying VP fouls his marker all the time?
Old whiskey nose blaming the pitch?
Get fucked the pair of you.
COYG – can you feel that you LWCs? That’s the hot breath of the Arse on the back of your neck. Obviously no sign of that odious little vagrant Cuntsop, nothing for that little clucker to gloat about today…
…and Ha Ha Liverpool – where’s your Scouse bleating now?
Oh look…your scum player is bang to rights. Well done the FA (don’t often say that!).
And it was maybe just me, but (with the caveat that we won the game) I perversely wanted TV to get a second yellow just to highlight Atkinson’s incompetence and watch him squirm..!
Happy new year sir ‘holic.
Catalan, in a way, it’s better that the wrong players gets a yellow I guess, because in the event of another yellow they surly can’t uphold the red and keep the player suspended for the next game?
Watching WBA – Everton now, it’s some kind of setpieceathon. At least it feels that way. I’m a bit grumpy due to excessive alcohol consumption yesterday, you see.
Toby. You are not alone! Although I am watching the cbeebies panto!
About the right level for me right now!
West Upper @ 5 & Camberwell Gooner @ 20, too right the pair of you, even Colin Wanker’s interviewer behind the BBC Camera was in a state of disbelief, especially when Colin stated that if QPR had Robin, they’d be in the top 8. What a hater of a twat.
And Cuntsop is nowhere to be seen, I don’t understand why someone who’s not an Arsenal fan would make an account on a Arsenal network to try and troll, it beggars belief almost. I bet the hot breath is feeling like a burning hairdryer on the neck, soon to be upgraded to a flamethrower tomorrow from around 7:15 after we’ve bagged the 3 points ๐
The last game of the year at the Grove was greeted with nervous anticipation. Thoughts of Wolves had not been eroded and results like that always leave a nagging doubt. A couple of vastly overpriced Tetley’s were consumed before the legend that is Tony Adams made an appearance onto the hallowed turf. I was elated to see the big fella. He has been somewhat conspicuous by his absence at times of celebration and that is something I will always regret. Guard down and relaxed you could see just how much this great club means to him.
The match had many similarities to the Wolves game. A slow and lacklustre start against sub standard opposition. Too slow in attack and a distinct lack of width YET AGAIN left the middle congested. At times we just looked out of sorts and another frustrating day beckoned. The passing just did not seem to click and the well oiled machine clearly needed some tinkering. That said we did create enough chances in the first half to ensure that we should have gone in at half time with a lead.
The second half brought more of the same although the pace had quickened. But again slow build up play and wayward passing saw good possession wasted. It took a moment of brilliance from the much maligned Andre Arshavin to place an inch perfect through ball the the one striker we have that can hit the target and it was game over. In that one moment Arshavin demonstrated why he is possibly the most frustrating player I have ever seen in an Arsenal shirt. Like a lost little boy for a lot of the time and then an act of pure class that just shows what he has in his locker.
Another vital 3 points and a move into the top 4 is always welcome. I do not feel a draw at Fulham is sufficient. I think if we are to push on that 3 points are vital.
1 nil to the Arsenal seemed a fitting tribute in the end. Colin Wanker was just that. His gesticulations on the side lines bear resemblance to an overactive chimp on heat. How he gets away with his constant moaning and whining at officials is totally beyond me. You can see what he and prime Oxygen Thief Barton hit it off.
Various positives for me. RVP of course. Coquelin looks to definitely have a bright future in the game. He impresses me on every outing. We looked solid all over the park again but lacked invention. I fear for Theo. For me he needs to massively pull his finger out. He was unbelievably ineffective. If AOC gets a decent run then Theo may well be spending some considerable time on the bench. All of that said, I would just like to conclude with a special mention for Per Mertesacker. For the majority of last season our defence was the definition of the word panic in any dictionary you cared to look in. He may not be the quickest and he may make the odd mistake but he has brought a maturity and a sense of organisation to the side. He is unflustered and reads the game as well as anyone. Yesterday was no exception. He did not put a foot wrong and has a calmness that puts others at ease. The BFG is a welcome addition to the squad.
My journey home could not have been better. As I sat on a crowded Central Line train, it was only as it thinned out that I realised I was sat opposite two Chelski fans. Both gazing aimlessly into ablivion. The smile on my face got bigger and bigger. I made a point to make a real noise with my programme so they knew just who they were sharing their journey with. Both remained motionless until their tube journey reached its conclusion. Oh how I chuckled. Perhaps if they write to Roman he may buy them their own tube line to prevent such ridicule in future?
2012 could be the most vital year yet. We have some big decisions ahead. If we want to continue to dine at the top table then we have to dress appropriately. Hopefully the awful start to the season has shaken a few that think we can coast with those that we have. A few welcome quality signings in January will be just the boost we need. You only had to be there yesterday to see the effect that the impending arrival of TH12 has had. I just hope that those in power have now realised that.
Happy new year to you all.
Happy New Year!!
Stayed open ’till around 7am, went to bed (although I can’t remember doing so) and I had to be up at 10:30 for a NYD drinky/reception.
Woke up on time (god knows how) to find that the whole village was suffering a power cut.
No electricity = no coffee etc, for the guests, but ofcourse there was absolutly nothing I could do about it. The power just came back on about half an hour ago, but most had already left.
O well, look on the bright side, things can only get better from now on.
Really????

Steve T
Your last paragraph echoes my sentiments perfectly.
And, as you have already stated them to eloquently; What Steve T said!
H2H…sorry to hear about the power cut, but perhaps it was for the best?
GT Rollers – carrying a 5 point advantage over The Arse going into these last two games. Could an upset be on the cards??
How are the rest of you doing?
It matters noy a jot Dr C, just that now I can grab an extra hour sleep before starting up again.
Afternoon Holics!
Great post Holic you never disappoint!
Happy New Year to All!
‘Holic – very kind of you – and we are remembering too ๐
Steve T – nice report – like the “own tube line” ๐
Holic, may I be as bold to direct you to a schoolboy error in your report. We don’t have, have never had and never will have North London rivals. We have neighbours who quite frankly do not rate above oiks. Rivals they will never be.
H2H. I feel an end of season holic bash taking place at a certain bar in Holland. Anyone else up for that?
now that is a scary idea!
All games that took place in 2011 will fade into a vague memory save our 5-3 victory at Chelsea and the first leg against Barcelona, so the win against QPR while a monumental step forward in our season need not be remembered in detail even a day after the fact. For now let us concentrate on the present and the future, starting with rooting on agents Bendtner and Larsson to do our bidding against Citeh this afternoon. Does anybody know what color Nicklas’ boots are today? ๐
I have just listend to this interview!
It is sad to say but this bloke is complete cock! :
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16374631.st
I know this was mentioned in the previous post but this bloke takes the piss! ๐
Arthur, I think you missed the last letter!
Try this link:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/16374631.stm
Apologis mate i have posted Arsen’s view only the I clicked on the other one!
What a COCK!
I’m not being funny here but Arsene would be charged here for such remarks!
Great report as always Steve. We saw the same game although my perceptions are always a little more rose-tinted ๐
Don’t get me wrong. I won’t be ‘happy’ with a draw at Craven Cottage and to push on we absolutley need three points but I’m trying to be realistic given the rotation we may be forced to make, the proximity with yesterday’s game and the fact that Fulham are a very decent side at home – especially when they play us!
One little story I forgot to tell that made my day even better yesterday was seeing Liam Brady standing outside turnstile A waiting with a female companion. I couldn’t resist walking up to him and requesting a hand-shake. I told him he was a boyhood hero of mine, he obliged me with the hand-shake and I bid him a happy new year. What a great way to start a match!
Are you trying to compete with tabs in the ‘friend of the stars’ stakes, TS? ๐
As for the remarks of the QPR manager he strikes me as a historical curiosity, an old fashioned carnival barker type who cares almost exclusively about showmanship. By that I mean in his own personality and in his remarks about the players. Note he doesn’t criticize RVP as a player, only RVP’s showmanship and playing up to the referees (which he actually praises in a backhanded kind of way!)
Pretty harmless really, I imagine he will continue his showmanship quite effectively next season in the championship where his antics seem more properly to belong.
SteveT@34: heh, an end-of-season bash in Holland sounds like a rather fun thing to do ๐
TS: Fulham will indeed be a stern test. Will be interesting to see how much rotation will be done.
Nasri once again pulled by Mancini prior to full-time. Hell, he didn’t even let the bugger play for 60 minutes this time.
Nananananana$ri hooked orf and the first teamer brought on
Hello Hollic you prezzy is in the mail it’s the delux van perie tea set it has an extra strong reenforced tea tray to carry 10 other mugs..
Yes, my prediction looks like it is comming true..
Samir Nasri, you know that guy who did not at all move to Man City for money, was just subbed off in the 55th minute.
Ah, beaten to it by both 8ball and AL!
Mancini’s three substitutes used up after 67 minutes. Panic????
Nik plan B benched an’ all
1-0 Sunderland!
haha the QPR result looks betterer and betterer
UredS!
Dong me please!!
That. Was. Beautiful.
This league is nuts from week to week……hope the boys know this when they step on the pitch tomorrow.
Colin Wanker is explicit in stating that RvP doesn’t adopt illegal tactics, so surely RvP’s crime is of an ethical nature. I propose that the odd raised elbow is far less of an issue than the new owner of QPR also being the main sponsor of the FA/referee. Clearly there is a huge conflict of interests there, and i further propose we make a hullabaloo about it during the next interlull to keep us occupied.
YES YES YES!
9 points off the top, I can’t believe It after the start we had. Also a victory for sport over money, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l
Just awakening from a wee Hogmanay Hooch, Holics. Happy New Year to you all. May Goonerholic be as entertaining in this new year as it has been since it was my pleasure to chance upon it.
Steve @ 26 – these roving reports eliminate the need for me to bother flying over. It’s always as if I’m there with you.
Koscielny was massive yesterday. What a player he’s becoming. Ramsey, Arteta and Song all worked like trojans although some of the passing wasn’t to our usual standard. Ramsey keeps looking for that winning pass and he’s going to be an Arsenal great.
I’m with you completely on BFG. Although I think that Kos and TV is our strongest CB pairing, it’s great to be in a position where we have these two as prime, BFG and JD 20 as first reserve and Miquel and Bartley emerging from the wings.
With Robin playing so brilliantly, it makes me wonder what it would have been like to have RVP, Cesc, TV, Nasri all fit for a full, single season.
This league wants us as title challengers.
Please AW, get us the needed reinforcements!
That’s a great shout Snir!
Happy New Year everyone (with the exception of the soppy LWC, a chimp with a keyboard).
The Sheikhs are finding out how tough it is to win a title. The look on the City fans faces at the end was tremendously amusing.
3 points tomorrow please.
Steve T – rendezvous in Holland – sounds great. Mines a Grolsch. ๐
I just noted someting rather interesting. In a league table beginning after that dreadful Blackburn game, we have actually won more points than Man Utd have (32 v 30). Unfortunately, Sp*rs have been even better and have 33 points. This is what it looks like for the top(ish) teams:
Sp*rs 33
ARSENAL 32
Man C 32
Man U 30
Liverpool 27
Chelsea 24
(Newcastle 21)
I have to say I am extremely wary of tomorrow’s game.
Don’t see us winning it.
You’d all of course be most welcome. ๐
What a wekend of results, only nine points from the summit. This aint over by a long shot.
OK, batteries rechargarged, (a bit) back to the bar. But before I do, a round of your best ale for all the’fine ‘holics in the bar please squire.
@Snir
I can well see us nick it but it is by no means a foregone conclusion. It’s going to be hard, some players we will be able to rotate, but our back line must be getting close to being “in the red.”
But, in some way, I kind of like it. It’s going to be a proper game of football and I can’t see us dominating the game in any way shape or form. We will be in for some excitement! But we have the same chance of getting the three points as they have and I’ll be hoping for them, but won’t be too disappointed with the team if we don’t.
H2H: nine points is a lot more than it sounds though. We have only gained two points on the top spot since early September despite our good run.
Toby/Snir: don’t forget that Fulham have had just as little rest as we have, and they also had to travel home from Norwich. Getting the first goal will probably be very beneficial to whichever team gets it. RvP will not start (not sure he’ll even take part at all, to be honest) so it’s up Chamakh to prove his worth. Not something that fills me with confidence, I have to say…
heh, City lost, mwahaha
If today’s result doesn’t get the dressing room buzzing and go e the players an infusion of energy and excitement I’d be very surprised.
I actually think RVP will play a part in proceedings, maybe not as a starter though. My concern is our wide players, when Gerv an Theo are on song (no, rid that image from your mind!) we look dangerous every attack but lately either one or both have been poor and we’ve struggled to create.
I wonder if Wenger will surprise us select The Ox will get a chance in place of Theo? I’m pretty sure he’ll start Gerv.
I think Van Persie may start despite the quick turnaround, there’s no league game for two weeks after tomorrow during which he can get a break I guess.
One Football Fan’s Tiny Tale Telling
So this Saturday i squeezed passed this bloke and his mate and took my seat behind the goal on the North Bank. The game kicked off and so did the bloke sat next to me.
For half an hour he loudly rattled on and on and fukkin’ on about everything but the game unfolding in front of him.
“The fukkin’ kids – fukkin’ shopping – her fukkin mother – blaahhh-blahblah-blahblah-blaaahh-blah!”.
Then he remembered there was a game going on and for the next half an hour (15 mins either side of half-time) he slaughtered all things Arsenal. Song was, and always has been, “shit”. Theo was “a waste of fukkin’ space” who should never ever be allowed anywhere near a fukkin’ football pitch from now until forever. Granted he wasn’t having his best game – he’s having a half-decent season though.
But my noisy neighbour swore he was “shit” and only got in to the team because he was much-loved by Arsene so-called “Wenger”. This got him nastily but neatly on to the subject of our sometimes esteemed manager.
“You better fukkin’ buy” – this one or that one or some other fukkin’ one – “Wenger you fukkin'” – this one or that one or some other fukkin’ one.
Then – on the hour – RVP struck. And the ground, minus the QPR contingent of course, went bonkas.
Just as everyone was finishing up patting their pals on their backs and settling down into their seats – he turned to his mate and said audibly above the quietening crowd around us –
“see, i told you, we’ve only got one fukkin’ cunt who can score!”
I have to admit i laughed out loud at this rescuing of downright miserablism from the jaws/joys of a marvellous moment.
But eventually his dentist drill whinging got to me. So i tapped him on the leg and i asked him to stand up.
When he did – i realised he was well over 4 foot two. So i squeezed past him and found a spot at the back of the north bank, where some fine gooners all stood (there was no-one behind us) and bantered and bollocked our team on to a very important victory.
There was some slagging too – but it didn’t seem to be of the sort of self-regarding, sense of entitlement variety displayed by the cock that i’d been previously stuck next to. Plus it was watered down by the vast majority who seemed to grasp quite naturally what supporting a team actually means.
Don’t get me wrong – of course everyone’s entitled to their opinion. And i don’t think support should be unconditional by any means – although in the context of a game we all know that encouragement works better than just about anything else. If a crowd can lift a team or a player by getting behind them, then it stands to reason that a crowd can inhibit a team or a player with the opposite.
Myself – i prefer to slag off the opposition or the referee when the rest of the world is watching. I would like to think i mostly knock my own when i’m safely amongst them – and then you hope you try your best to be constructive.
SQUEAL!!!ACHI! being the current exception that proves the rule.
Up The Arse!
If any of the above resembles any one on here or anyone who anyone on here recognises then i would like to state that is an unfortunate coincidence as “this bloke” as described above is entirely fictional – and i’m a coward!
Sounds like Gareth or Gervais, AL.
Or maybe LeG? ๐
Time for more Monty Python after dinner.
I blame zico.
Back to work tomorrow, can’t see myself being healed by then though.
Nice post AL @ #70. Moving away sounded like the right option.
Have to say, I mostly encounter reasonable sorts in the West Stand Upper & Northbank Upper. The one game I’ve had in The Northbank Lower this year was a real treat of vocal support but that was a CC game so you tend to get a quite different crowd in for those games.
I think zico @ #71 may have hit the nail on the head re: moany bloke’s identity.
Geoff @ #68
After the Villa victory, I saw both Szcz and The BFG jump on Little Theo. True man love ๐
hey Dr. Z – i reckon possibly symptomatic of the type of cunt-spirited ill-thought through attitudes those 3 reprobates you name promote
i’m also fairly sure i caught sight of a wild-eyed fellow outside the tollie who spent much of the time muttering to himself about new years’ resolutions he intended to smash with a hammer once something or someone called Rocksit or Roxette or something was out of the way. But then Blackburn scored again – i blinked, and he was gone.
Lars, top work @ #62. St.Totts day definitely back on the agenda!
BTW, getting really fed-up of people saying ‘where would Arsenal be without RVP?’
Well…. it would be a v.big loss but we lost Cesc & Na$ri in one go last year and yet here we are, a few months later Top 4 and in the last 16 of the CL. I think we were just as dependent on Cesc last year as we are RVP this. Oh, and BTW, how great would RVP be without the service he’s been getting from his team-mates? Football is a team game. Sunderland proved that today (congrats). No one player is ever bigger than the club. Especially a great club like Arsenal.
PS: Where would the LWCs be without Monkey Boy? Where will Liverpool be without Suarez?
So i tapped him on the leg and i asked him to stand up.
Did that give him a rash, AL? ๐
TS. True.
And does the pope shit in the woods? *
Or something.
*I do not claim this one, it was related to me by dizzy, coming from someone else on the Costa.
Hey Lars @62 – we’re second – fact!
Ollie@77 i don’t think so – but he was a bit miffed at my grumpiness when i got up to go – which made me chuckle to myself when i was in the bar after – well away from him of course
Good stats Lars – interesting, good to see Chavski sinking.
TS – the one game I’m not there and Liam Brady is waiting outside my usual entrance – turnstile A!
LB, DB10, TH14 my top three, ever – don’t suppose that makes me very unusual though ๐
Is Liam, (or PHW, Geoff) at The Tollie for Leeds, as you guys are now good mates ?
So if we had got the nailed on penalty we should have gotten against citeh, and gone on to beat them – there’d only be 3 points now between us and them.
I know that’s a lot of ifs and buts (down Wolfie) and some bits in between – but it does show what a pivotal game that was for us and them and the rest of the top of the league. And there’s half a season to go.
I don’t think we’ll win it – but there’s a massive amount to play for, for all the top six clubs. With a probable bundle of twists and turns still to come –
I can’t remember a season quite like it meself
UreDS!
Can you believe it! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Ollie @ 72 – Guilty as charged.
AL @ 75 – Another sighting? Someone needs to look after that guy ๐
And TS, like Trev, I assume you are bringing your new Irish mate to the Tollington on Monday week – he’ll be able to get the first Guinness in.
๐
AL – it is strange what some fans / match-goers consider to be support.
You’ll remember the home game against Wigan when Eboue was brought on at left wing and then subbed off again after a fairly disastrous half-hour’s work, albeit he had had a while out with injury and was, as we all know, a right back.
I’m pleased to say I did not, and never have, joined in with the booing which accompanied his departure, but the range of reactions after the game was dramatic.
My season ticket is in West Upper, Block 91, and there is one chap about 3 rows behind me who can always be relied on to literally scream at the top of his voice, for good or bad.
This particular day, as we filed out, he decided to have a go at the manager.
“For f*ck’s sake Wenger, spend some f*cking money, you c*nt”, he almost gargled in his 120db rage, “this is all your f*ckin’ fault”.
The guy coming out of the row opposite took a rather different view and punched him right in the mouth.
The warrior from the rows above, brought to account for his supersized gob, ran for it. Or, rather, jumped for it, down about 10 rows of seats, hotly pursued by his assailant from the row opposite.
Good job we’re all on the same side, eh ?
