A Welcome Distraction
May 19th, 2012 by 'holic
If Carlsberg did weeks they would be hard-pushed to do better than the one that I have been blessed with this week. Three points to clinch a Champions League berth on Sunday, a day with Bobby at the new home of football courtesy of Indesit Football, and to cap it all a Lord’s Friday with excellent and knowledgeable company. If there is a divine being I would beg for just one more throw of the lucky dice please. Bayern Munich, champions of Europe. It has a certain ring to it.
Such has been the whirl of activity this week, I have been almost completely distracted from the hullabaloo surrounding the immediate future of Robin van Persie. That is no bad thing from the bits I have seen. The only constant in football is that the people I sat and drank with last season will be the people I sit and drink with next season. With the odd exception of course, as circumstances lead one or two away from the path they have trodden of late, and refreshing newcomers take their place under the Tollie brolly.
We’ll raise a glass to those taken from us by relocation or disenchantment, and welcome the new with tales of deeds past and hopes for glories new. In that respect the Tollie brolly is every bit the same as the Arsenal dressing room. If one of our number is lured to the other side of the world by fabulous riches or a healthier lifestyle, then we understand, feel a little sorrow as we wave him farewell, and look forward to the treat of seeing him once more at some point in the future.
What we wouldn’t do is give him and his family dogs abuse from behind a firewall. That is the act of the particularly small and bitter individual. I don’t know any of them.

A new blog already!
I don’t think the abusers have the intelligence to understand your post.
But I admire and applaud your effort.
I like the idea, but I don’t think it’s one of your better analogies, to be honest, ‘holic.
If one of our lot went to pastures new because of the lure of money, he still wouldn’t be taken away from the Arsenal in spirit.
And we’d welcome him warmly and sing with him whenever he turns up to support the Arsenal.
Should Robin go and come back to play against the Arsenal, he will be part of the ‘enemy’ for the day.
I wouldn’t give him a standing ovation, even though I currently love him a lot. Polite applause maybe, but more probably annoyed silence and even a smidgen of contempt.
Of course, your last paragraph is however, still spot on. It goes for Nasri too in fact (indifference is best), and it goes for Ramsey, who, lest we forget, got similar sort of abuse during the season while beind a fully fledged and on-the-pitch Arsenal player.
Amen to that, Landlord. I’ll be there under the brolly a few times next season no matter what.
Exactly right ‘Holic. So glad you’ve had a fabulous week. Re. Robin, come what may, I will stand up and salute him. Ignoring for a moment my favourite goal of his at the Valley and other memories over the years, last season he brought me and those I care about much happiness and that is good enough for me. I hope to meet some more ‘Holics next season (overcoming a little bit shyness, to paraphrase Arsene). Enjoying the cricket today and whilst I’ll be supporting Bayern tonight I’m going to do away with my bitterness towards the current Chelsea team and not let it ruin my evening if they win. How’s that for a small step (for those who know me) :-).
Nice article, short and full of meaning. Any player that want to go should come out clean and let the club know his position!..we wont forgive any player that hold us to ransom in any way!.
Well said, guvnor. Stella, please.
Nice post holic, looking forward to next season already defo want to get over to put some faces to names under the tollie brolly, and of course see wolfie singing liar liar!no matter who’s playing or not where always going to be gooners.UTA.
One of my favorite memories from last season was after getting up at 4 am and flying into London for spurs game I arrived at the Tolly just as the doors opened. Got myself a pint and sat in the beer garden in beautiful sunshine as the place filled up . A warm and friendly atmosphere that was hard to leave even for the match. Under the Tolly brolly is a special place indeed.
I’ve heard they are playing the next world cup final in your back garden
Good stuff ‘holic.
I have been reading your blog for a while and Idk if I ever comment or not but today I couldn’t resist. I got to ask you mate, you run an ad agency? The kind of symbolism I read on your site is something I have never read. Just fantastic writing.
In my simple words I’d say we’ll miss you. Thanks for lovely memories. Cheers for one last time.
Generous sentiments, ‘Holic. In the end, we have to recognise that the players are pros and their careers transient. We, on the other hand, are fans (not customers, consumers or clients) and in it for life.
I only have one thing to say about RVP if he leaves its just a shame his Arsenal career has been blighted by so many injuries during his stay. Who knows if we could of had a new all time top scorer if he was able to keep injuery free.
If you leave RVP I wish you the very very best in the future it has been a pleasure to watch you play.
Lovely post Holic.
Hope I’m not on the Tollie Brolly Transfer List π
I heard the Kings Head has put in an offer, tabs. π
Spot on post Holic and agree with North bank Ned. It would be sad to see RVP depart but we have to accept that for the players this is their career and they cannot have the same commitment for life as us supporters. Let’s hope that the club can bring in some other talent and convince him of our ability to compete.
Good one ‘holic. π
H2H. Tabs to the Kings Head? It makes the head spin.
Hibs or Hearts, anyone?
Hibs 8ball good manager in pat fenlon.done well here in Ireland like to see him carry on in Scotland.
Hibs,Blackpool,Leinster,bayern please..
I’m backing Hibs too being a backbench supporter since attending my only Scottish game in the early 80s. It was Hibs v. Aberdeen at Easter Road. Blackpool and Bayern wins would also float my boat quite nicely, but not sure about Leinster. If that is a hurling side I may have to bow out.
Nice one ‘Holic – looking forward to the Brolly already.
I think RvP has been like the classy girl who has allowed you to glimpse her exquisite charms just occasionally for, say, seven years, during which you have repeatedly asked her out, only to be rebuffed with a “sorry, but I can’t make it this weekend – maybe next week”.
She has been there a long time, always just out of reach, but you’ve never really worried that she wouldn’t be around.
And suddenly, when you least expected it, there she was. Reliable. Enthusiastic. Classy. Her every touch a thing of beauty.
Then, just as you begin to relax in her company, she’s gone, tempted away by that flash looking bloke with the Ferrari.
You suffer privately and jest in public. “Well it happens – not to worry – plenty more where that came from”.
But it hurts. The least you expected was a swap for the Ferrari. π
heh, that’s more like it, Trev π
Swiss Trev!
Played ‘holic – this week i shall mostly be attempting to muchly resist a diet of dutch stuff
Leinster play rugby union 8ball,today they play the equivalent of the CL final not a die hard mind takes the mind off the gunners, trev excellent post.
H2H heh π
Lovely stuff Trev . A romantic eh ? Who knew ! π
Nicely put holic. Sounds a top week.
I am inclined to side with Ollie though. If there are faces missing from the crowd or the tollie brolly it won’t be because they have been offered a better deal in the Queens Head, and it won’t be because they have now decided that their allegiance lies elsewhere. Players these days, fueled by the greed of limpit agents are loyal to a pound note. Can they be blamed for that? Personally I think they can. I would like to think that there is more to some of these players than just money. Sadly, loyalty seems to be one big dirty word.
My one fear with RVP is that it will end up like the Adebayor situation. Ade decided he was much better than he was and proceeded to prostitute himself around Europe, only to find no takers. The rest is history.
I always find this time of the year interesting. I have to raid the piggy bank to pay for my season ticket just as players decide that over 100k a week is not enough. No one player is bigger than the club and Robin will know that. He is an employee and under contract. Quite simply he will do as he is told. I really do not like the idea of players dictating to the club. I just hope we have learned the lessons of previous years in that we don’t leave it to the last minute. I also hope that if he is going that we sort that deal and his replacement out as soon as possible.
I agree totally re those faceless internet warriors. All brave behind a screen. The same goes for those who claim to know what is going on. There is so much made up garbage doing the rounds that I believe none of it until it appears on the Arsenal web site.
Well said Holic.
Delicate layers of thought in this one, Holic…Devil says it best for me.
Wembley pitch is looking in good shape. Wish I could say the same about Fat Sam. π
Greetings Holics
With the season over, I’m off for a week in the sun before the tennis Grand Slams get going.
I will leave the transfer worries to the rest of you , while I fret on the Federer serve and back-hand .
Can’t say that last season was enjoyable, more endured from my perspective but like the rest of you I will be there when it all kicks off again in August, my 60th year as a Gooner!
As always COYRs
Happy and sunny holidays, Delia. π
Wow Trev, that was very impressive indeed. Nevertheless, time to confess. Were you the guy with the Ferrari or the other guy? Lol!
I have to say I’ll find it hard to take. Even harder than Cesc.
60 years of goonerdom, mucho respect Delia.
Happy Holidays.
Apparently not Hibs’ day after all, 4-1 down at the moment. π
Bollocks, looks like Sam Walrus and Kuntvin Nolan will be coming back to the Premiership.
West Ham, Southampton and Reading promoted to replace Bolton, Blackburn and Wolves. Less travel involved for Arsenal makes it sound like a good exchange?
Thankyou fellas – I’m afraid I still have no Ferraris π
Shit! Allardyce in the Directors Box again.
After contemplating Deliaβs diamond jubilee and reading how Steve T will have to be raiding his piggy bank to shell out (as many here do) his/their hard earned on the Arsenal, Iβve came to the conclusion that loyalty in football has fast become a one way street.
Ofcourse there are still those who choose to drive head on into traffic, your Tony Adams, Pat rice guys, but those are so few and far between that theyβll eventually probably become like Bigfooot sightings, somewhere deep inside you you really want him to exsist, but common sense tells you otherwise.
The sooner we realise and accept that those that don our colours are simply highly paid professionals and no matter how much they tell us that they love us and how many times they kiss the badge they’ll never have the same connection to the club that the fans do.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that RvP doesn’t have a deep affection for the club, but no matter how we slice it, it’s still just his day job and his career, which incidently will not last too much longer, his next contract may very well be his last, so he has to do what he thinks is right for him.
As Dr C points out above, signing with us or somewhere else could mean a 24mill difference, that is just an absurd amount of money to be snubbed, I’m not sure that there’s many people on this earth who’s head wouldn’t be turned by those figures.
If RvP decides not to re-sign, but simply stay, see his contract out and leave on a Bosman, I think he’d be playing a very risky game. To get the real big bucks, he’ll have to prove that he can still produce at the top level (which will be great for us) while walking the fine line of not getting injured. Lest we forget this is a player that has been plauged by injuries and if memory serves has only had one full season during his lengthy stay at our club. How much of an impact will the Euro’s have on him is also a major factor, what’s to say he won’t get injured there (hope not ofcourse) or that playing without a proper summer stop will effect his fitness going into the new season.
Seems to me that a decision has to be made sooner rather then later for the good of all concerned, but whatever happens, lets just try to focus on this good season that he has given us and wish him all the best.
Unless he goes to Citeh. π
BBC Radio 5 live summariser Robbie Savage at Wembley: “All the people who have been giving Big Sam stick this season, I hope they are eating their words.”
Yeah right, Fat Sam would have gobbled them up already.
π
Without checking anything, I’m pretty sure RvP has, before this season, played a maximum of 24 league games in one season. And that was in only one season.
Other than that, if memory serves, he had one x17, and then it’s down to 14’s, and 13’s.
As a fan, I feel he owes us. Any player can be injured though, and he has always played when fit, so has fulfilled his contractual obligations.
If I was an Arsenal player and already a multi-millionaire, and another club offered me more money to play for them, I would turn it down without a second thought.
But I’m not, and they haven’t. π
How’s this for proof of what I posted earlier.
Dejected Blackpool manager Ian Holloway on missing out on promotion: “We are left to regret the chances we missed. We have to get over it and bounce back. They [the players] have just missed out on a great big bonus that would have taken their money up.”
Nothing about a missed chance of taking the club and their fans up. (a division)
Bollox – would have liked to see Holloway back in the Premier League.
Heh, damn details getting in the way, eh Trev. π
Nice post ‘holic!
Been doing lots of back-drinking from the past few weeks! Hee! Hee! Hee! A few funny and enlightened folks at this bar! π Way too many weirdos though! π You know who you are!!!
And so the usual post-season nonsense begins! Fueled and complicated by the usual cunts! Feckers!!!
I see that the pornographers have re-joined the xenophobes and the money-launderers in English Football’s top-flight?! Welcome back West Ham, your “champagne football” will again fit-in very nicely!
Perish the thought if football somehow develops a moral and egalitarian conscience by August?! Every season, one lives in hope!
http://youtu.be/WCkOmcIl79s
KOMMEN BAYERN!!!
That might get sticky DanC.
I’ll stay with;
KOMM BAYERN!! π
Trev, Robin played around 40 games (28 in the league) in the 2008/9 season. But that is his only full season apart from this one.
Now, come on Bayern!
I am now starting to get a bit nervous in case Chelski ruin my summer by winning.
Chelsea register about a 0.00000000001 on my give a shit o meter.
@ H2H
As much as that?
Heh.
Come on Bayern!!!
Munick IT!
Top 60th…wow!
Evening all…its great to be looking forward to a game I actually give a shit who wins…really…I don’t! I am not supporting anybody to win..
Well, come on Bayern!
Whatever the outcome, another one of the teams I dislike will not be playing in the CL next season. Hehe!
Robben v Drogba.
I wonder who’ll be the designated diver?
Heh, nice one H2H π
Chelsea looking shakier at the back then that dude who sung “This ol’ House” and “Green Door”.
I think Robben is playing brillantly, surely will be rewarded for his efforts.
11 men behind the ball; it’ll be a real disgrace if Chelsea wins the Champions League.
Evening All. Anyone know why Fulham are playing with the slogan “Right to play” across the back of their shirts?
Or what it means?
Just askin’ like
Am I mishearing or are Chelski fans really singing bastardised version of “the greatest team”? O.O
What’s wrong with Gomez?
Jaysus, please score, Bayern.
I really despise every single one of these Cuntski cunts.
Oh, OK. Appears it’s some kind of charity. Quite a nice gesture. Somehow didn’t expect it from the Team in Blue.
Google was my friend.
Well, that was pretty crap, weren’t it?
Good game though..
H2H: What exactly did u expect? Fulham in blue is in the Finals, right?
OK a bit early I will admit but I believe that The Arsenal are destined to do great next season…why I hear you ask? Well all the portents are good: New striker, Southampton & West Ham in the same league – we have always done well with those teams in the top division π
Not much I suppose Imp’, but it doesn’t hurt to hope.
Oh Bayern , Come the Fuck on !!!!
H2H @50,
Certainly hope it is but I haven’t seen any men komm at the moment; unfortunately! π
I’m with you Ollie, I can’t believe how much i despise that cunt Terry and his adulterous chums!
It’s like watching Stoke in the CL! No way can this be the first club from London to win Europe’s premier competition!
Kommen Bayern for feck’s sake!!!
Bayern are going to score pretty soon…they have so much finesse. Would love to see our lads play them. Would be a real pleasure to watch, of course, we’d win (smiling).
Exactly my thoughts, the way the match goes on really reminds me about lot of our games…I wouldn’t mind Schweinsteiger going for late Artetaesque winner from long range:P
Damn. I’m getting quite anxious watching this, beginning to really care. COME ON BAYERN
Have Bayern suddenly become Barcelona or something?!
A Β£150+ million pound bus has well and truly been parked at the Allianz arena! The EPL’s finest bus! How can a side winning the CL by “smash and grab” tactics both in the semis and the final be hailed in England (if the unthinkable happens)?! Man I’m depressed now! π
Anti-football at its most expensive best!
Imagine being an LWC watching this.
You almost feel sorry for them.
Almost.
If only Bayern new how to shoot! Hmmm, when have I felt that before?!
@ N7! Lol! π Suddenly I’m not depressed anymore!
THere it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GET THE FUCK IN !!!!!!!
I know Dan C, brings back many a memory (sighs). yes! goal!
Goal!
mullered – yee haaa!
Feckin’ get in!!! Finally!!! π
Football 1 – Anti-football 0
Shit, the LWC’s are happy! π
Well…someone buy me a drink cause I told you so!!!
This vaguely reminds me of an Italy v France(?) match in the latter stages of a World Cup a few years back (’98?). Italy defended doggedly for 85 minutes then France scored and went through 1-0. The English Meeja in their classic unbiased style decided that in France v Anyone, Anyone would obviously deserve to win and found a new respect for teams that defended doggedly.
I got into work the next day and, before a meeting a Man U-supporting colleague (one of the good ones. He could place Manchester on a map – I asked him once) enquired what I’d though of the match and how unlucky Italy had been. I was able to give him the benefit of my experience of supporting a defensively excellent team for 30+ years – “It was a good game and both teams played well, but at the end of the day, I thought football was the winner”.
Oh, excellent 1-0 Bayern. Well, I’ve typed all this crap now.
COME ON BAYERN
*offers finest german lager* π
Come on Bayern, finish this off
A very large one for Nurse abbs please bar-keep! She looks like she can handle it tonight! π
Yes!!! Fucking Cashley!! Under your nose!!!
Shoulda covered him you cunt!! Just like Belletti and Etoo you fucking cunt!!
I cannot believe this.
NOOOOO
no! now I need that drink!
Extra T … chelski AND sp@rs fans in agony psed not a bad header – to be f.
Bayern need to play for the draw now and win this in ET.
Well in abb; saddest century of them all
Unbe-feckin-lievable!!!
Chelsea are definitely a one-man side and this match has finally confirmed this!
If they lose Drog-breath this summer, they will crumble like a deck of cards!
Shit! This free-kick’s going in!
Nice conversion you diving, cheating cunt!
Chelsea are like Stoke City and this is deeply unpleasant.
Bayern should have won this game about 300 times already.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Oh no.
Another half hour of this tosh.
Gosh this really reminds me of the way it went for Arsenal this season…ahead, only to have a vastly inferior side tie or beat us, with only a few minutes to go.
Heh, I have now backdrank, as I had stopped checking after half-time, and I see that DanC at 76 came up with the same idea π
One small crumb of comfort, though I still very much hope Bayern win it in ET now.
Think how gutted we all were when Dogbag scored that.
Now think of LWCs at that very same moment. Now I laugh.
They might as well go through some very painful moment before Bayern win it, why not?
For the fate of football; Bayern must win this match!!!
What a poor reflection of the EPL that the world is witnessing!
Oxon @ 103 Thanks. Don’t give up people, we’re the Arsenal and we know this drill by heart!
Ollie @112,
Heh! My thoughts exactly matey! π
Schadenfreude can be such a wonderful thing when our London underling rivals are the object of its attentions! π
Penalty
Drogba – genius ! π
How fitting is this! Come on Robben!
CUNT
What a shit penalty…
Will someone just please hand them the trophy now, this is too depressing for words.
this is written in the fuckin’ stars . Bollocks .
Chelsea must not be allowed to win this.
It would be a travesty, and a tragedy for football.
I’m vaguely hoping that Drogba becomes the first player to get sent off in TWO CL finals.
Well in for the ton abbs! Very understated effort!
Please Lord, drag this out as long as possible for maximum Gooners entertainment value!!! π
tabs, no: it looks like it’s written in shit
yeah, well done abb indeed
Where is Dr Feelgood? We’re gonna win this, oops, I mean Bayern (shakes her head).
I can’t understand it.
A team full of Krauts and they let the Dutch guy take the penalty.
Tabs,
A certain voodoo-doll maker will come to the rescue!
Now I realize how much I appreciate Martin Fulop! Lol!
H2H @127,
Heh! π
There is no way Bayern will win this after that shit penalty.
Oh well. I’ll just turn it off before the cunts lift the trophy and then don’t give it much more thought.
Bayern to win on Penalties with Lampard, Drogbreath and Cuntly Cole missing!
CunTerry to blub again like a baby shortly before his head explodes!
Sweet as a nut!!!
I think Bayern need to win it in the next 15, Lars.
I am not very hopeful I admit, seeing how this game has unfolded so far.
Ref quite good though, apart from the Bayern goal denied (but then I guess it’s his linesman’s fault)
Was it not offside, Ollie?
Bayern looks like they have lost a step…I don’t know Chelsea are still in it. The football gods have to intervene.
Ooo. too close.
Ollie, don’t worry!!!
The new boy Olic loooking dangerous for Bayern!
Impeccable@129: heh!
Ollie@111: the one good thing about Fulham Blue winning it is of course the fact that the LWC’s won’t be in the CL at all. But I’d still rather see Bayern win this game, which they of course won’t. They’re not even creating chances anymore. Gary Cahill will score the winner, prompting gazillions of moaners to go “arsen y u not buy diz plyr!!!”.
Just wont go in
Jaysus. After all that, if Cuntski win, I’ll really have to shutdown all media, it will stink of horrible piss.
Bayern trying to win the match; the parked Bus-Stop trying not to lose!
134 FG, didn’t look offside on my replay.
Lars, heh at the not creating changes business, considering the 2 massive massive ones just gone begging again.
chances
Just be patient Bayern, Just keep playing and get the ball wide! You’ll get one more good chance!
Ollie, it was offside as far as I could see. Not by much, but still offside.
Ollie@144: heh, they created those just after I had pressed “Submit Comment” π
Schweinsteiger’s a class-act apart from anything else on the pitch!
Malouda, dirty scumbag.
Seriously, Chelsea winning will be the death of football.
Score now please Bayern, last 2 mins!
Ollie.
Looked quite a bit offside to me.
If it had been given it would of been daylight Ribbery.
Chelsea in the Europa League, please.
How are Chelsea still in this?
What a team of cheats.
H2H @152,
Hee! Hee! π
It did look offside Ollie but only narrowly! Ref’s had a good match!!!
Nothing can happen to Chelsea, and they know it. The penalties will creep in while Bayern crumble.
Your fault, Snir, you jinxed it all before the semi-final π
Bayern to take it in penalties!!!
Ok then, pelantys it is. Will keep my finger on the “off” button…
Ok, if you all say so re; offside: maybe the angle I saw wasn’t good, and I saw only one replay.
John Terry on the sidelines, where’s that fucking voodoo doll?
Wise move, Lars, I shall do the same.
Here we go!
For a great keeper, Cech’s never been a good penalty stopper! He saved Robben’s because it was poorly taken, although you’d think it was a worldly from those cunts on ITV!
We all know what Neur and Bayern can do from the semis!
Kommen Bayern!
My fault Ollie?!? The fact they’re still in it is a huge piss take by the footballing Gods!
I’m dying here! I have to support Germans because they’re against Chelsea and they’re bottling it!
Still, think of the agony we would have been going through right now had not Marton Fulop stepped up for us last Sunday…
Lottery !
GEEZ .
The only thing giving me comfort at the mo is that the LWC’s will be feeling a whole lot worse than us .
They are seriously taking the piss indeed, Snir.
Lars 164, yep, that doesn’t bear thinking about.
German efficiency please!!!
And indeed tabs. Small crumbs though, as far as I’m concerned.
Their day of misery can wait a bit.
er, DanC, didn’t see much of that for 120 minutes…. π
yes!
Lars @164,
Thank God for Fulop! π
I’m going to leave the country for the whole summer if those cunts from the Bus-Stop win!
Ha Ha What’s the Mata, Juan?
yes! what a save!
WELL, WELL!
Ollie @170,
The LWCs would’ve had too easy a ride !
Cech’s too cumbersome and not fleet of foot for a penalty stopper! He’s all about angles and positioning and not instinct!
Keeper scores.
Balls of steel.
THATS THE WAY TO DO IT!
Olic you cunt.
Feck! And there I was praising Olic before! Cuntley! Please if there’s a God!
Fuck off fuck off fuck off
Shit!
Schweini been good, he will miss.
Sadly too classic, I couldn’t have been wrong π
Nooooooooooooo!
SLIP, SLIP, SLIP, SLIP!!
It’s over! This is just shit!
Not Dogbag oh fuck off.
NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Good night folks.
RIP football.
Told you!! π
Where’s your 4th place gone?
– where’s your 4th place gone..Little totteen-ham, Little totteen-ham
Where’s your 4th place gone?
– where’s your 4th place gone..
Far, far away…..(repeat ad-finitum)
To this tune: http://youtu.be/-EpWOzIzhf8
Nooooooooooooo!!!
I’m off to Heathrow!!! Feck this shit!
TV OFF.
BUt on the bright side. Ha Ha at the LWC’s
Total and utter bollocks .
Sorry, GT, but I have zero zero zero happiness tonight.
Fuck off, football.
Good job we got third. How did Bayern not win that?
As Ollie says,
19th May 2012 = the day football died! π
Now it will be up to Arsenal right many wrongs. Gary Nelville, you don’t speak for us.
And that racist, adulterous cunt Terry now gets to lift the trophy!
What a fecking disgrace!
I think I’m going to be sick for a month.
Least deserving winners imaginable.
Another trophy bought by oil money.
Fuck football – something has gone horribly wrong. I’m perilously close to actually feeling sympathy for the LWCs.
That ain’t right. That ain’t right at all.
garsguns, I hope Leinster had a good day because Bayern, Hibs and Blackpool all struck out!
I know I will sound like a kid here, and I know this is football, but this really isn’t fucking fair. Not fair at all.
I feel sick.
Can never trust those bloody Germans.
Nice double century Gedo! I wish it was under far better circumstances!
Even the LWCs failure is not easing my gut-wrenching nausea and sickness!
Fuck.
Well, we can’t say we didn’t see it coming – a few of us in here predicted their win a long, long time ago. And I have to say that the thought of the LWC’s now sitting there with only a Europa League spot is a rather comforting one…
Anyway, enough bothering about others now. Hitting the “off” button as soon as possible after the last goal went in was a good idea, the give-a-fuck-ometer barely registers any activity at all right now.
So, have we signed anyone yet? π
Bang
Thank fuck we finished 3rd.
I don’t know about you lot but I hate the Lillywhite cunts far, far more that I hate the Blue cunts…so I am happy that they feel absolutely fucked tonight….
Goodnight ‘holics!
My media silence begins from now till August! π
Oh well! I guess I’m late for the bus like the LWC’s! Lol!
Must say, don’t get this negativity. It was a no lose for us. Chelski have been battered in their last 3 champs lge games. Somehow they have found more luck in those games than the average team gets in 3 seasons. But shit happens. Just be grateful for that Gibbs tackle in the last mins at west brom that ensured we could all watch pretty chilled out. Just think of those little spuddies who are now on their knees. They will be on line later checking out Thursday flights to Azerbaijan. Mind the gap you wankers.
Steve and GT – I can handle Spurs playing a few games in the CL, but Chelsea winning it? That’s awful.
I feel sick. Cashley and Terry are happy now, that automatically makes me sick.
C@nterry is a shameless etc
Shit happens? They just….what was it now…oh yeah…won the European Cup! It’s too hideous for words.
Excellent Steve T.
Well said Steve T. Only us Gooners can make a match involving two other teams – that we don’t care about and which don’t affect us – to take the sheen off our incredible 3rd place finish!…
Steve, I must say I don’t feel anywhere near as pissed off as I thought I would about Chelsea winning it. And the more I think about it, the more hilarious it is that the Spuds are not in the CL after them giving it large almost all season about “power shift”, “mind the gap”, “no chance of Arsenal finishing above To**enham” and hacks going on about “only van Persie would make it into a combined North London XI”. So who’s minding the fucking gap now, you muppets?
Snir and others. One of two things were guaranteed to happen tonight. Bayern win the champs lge or the Spuds bow out for next season. One HAD to happen. Now we can sit and cry in our beer because those class less fuckers have won. Or, we can laugh like fuck at the Spuds. Your choice. Personally I am not going to let the thoughts of the Spuds minus modric, bale etc playing on a thurs, somewhere at the arse end of Europe spoil my night.
Upsides:
LWCs will now struggle to hang onto their better players.
Chelsea will hang onto more of their average ones.
Probably makes things a bit easier for us next term.
But still fucking depressing to watch oil whores win everything in sight. And even more depressing to hear TV commentators talking about the Rich Russian as some sort of romantic figure who has “wanted this more than anyone”.
Well, if the small London club wearing blue has to win the CL before us, at least they did it by showing their small club mentality to the world playing like a side battling relegation, powered only by oil money, scoring almost all their goals from corner kicks… Least deserving winners if ever there was one, but winners nonetheless.
Sure, I’d probably take winning the CL even if we play like horse shit, but I can look back at the 2006 final and say we battled a great Barca side with 10 men and still played much better than these blue cunts. Seeing Chavski win and how they did it makes me glad I’m not their fan. One day soon we will be winners in a Champions League final, and when that day comes we will surely win it by playing briliantly.
Fuck. The prospect of seeing the LWCs play Europa League next term is still not enough consolation for tonight. But I guess it is so very rare to have your cake and eat it too.
So is Di Matteo the new Tony Barton
In fact, fuck it. I’m going to have another one……
Negatives into positives boys. End of.
Now we have all summer to practice this: π
…after me 1,2,3
Whereβs your 4th place gone?
β whereβs your 4th place gone..Little totteen-ham, Little totteen-ham
Whereβs your 4th place gone?
β whereβs your 4th place gone..
Far, far awayβ¦..(repeat ad-finitum)
To this tune: http://youtu.be/-EpWOzIzhf8
Let’s offer Β£5 million for Bale.
Negativity is pointless indeed. We finished third, we will be playing CL football next term, there is nothing to indicate RVP is leaving us soon or is unwilling to extend his contract, we still play better football than the oily Blues… And imagine being a Bayern fan tonight. We could really be much worse off at this moment.
Let’s just laugh at the LWCs right now, shall we? It is still a hilarious way to lose a CL spot….
I want any spurtz fan looking in for a crumb of con solation to know that we hate you cunts…no matter the confused Holics who wanted Chel$ki to lose more that you cunts to suffer…oh what a day this is..
Mind the Gap..cunts π
QUICK QUESTION-DOES THIS CHELSEA WIN MEAN WE HAVE ARE SHOVED INTO THE CL QUALIFIERS? someone in the know please inform!
I can’t still get my head around how Chelsea won this cup, they have to be one of the worst teams to have won it but its theirs and that matters to them.I know lot of gooners are not happy . but it could’ve been even worst if we’ve finished 4th. So consider youselves lucky. Cheer up guys our turn will come one day.
Foreign Gooner: Rest assured we go straight into the group stages and the Lillywhite cunts to straight to Channel 5..ha ha ha
No Forien gooner. Chelsea will have to go a qualifier I think. That what liverpool did last time when they won it.
Foreign. Not according to Sky. Apparently all 4 English sides are straight into the group stage.
@228 nope π
spurs out; chelsea in, but trying not to imagine what the negative repercussions of a chelsea victory mean for our club. chelsea to build a new 60k seat stadium on the back of european glory? if we are to compete, we need a bloody overhaul yesterday.
Its too gray an area…Worries me alot that we may have to grapple with qualification and struggle way we did against udinese this term….too much exertion for our boys at the worst of times. Dont like the sound of it. HATE CHELSEA!
Wengers coat: Look we had less touched of the ball back in 2005 than Chel$ki had tonight and we won the F.A. Cup…so I can’t see what the fuck people are on about tonight..I really can’t! Did we give a shit that United outplayed us up & down the park? No? Well then shut the fuck up and get with the programme…
Where your 4th place gone….
Derrick @221,
Spot on mate!!!
The only way i can feel better with this outcome is if we win this feckin’ thing more than once as soon as possible!
Otherwise we’ll now never hear the end of it from those chav cunts as they propogate the mantra of “We have a long history in Europe being that we were the first side from the capital to win the European Cup”!
Feck’ i’m depressed and even the LWCs failure (whom i’ve never ever seen or considered as a threat in any shape or form to our CL qualification!) is not appeasing me!
Rather than stick, you’ll now see more criminal-money pumped in at the Bus-Stop to build them up even more. I only hope that the Di Matteo/cunTerry managerial partnership is kept on as they are another Fulop waiting to happen!
My only posssible saving grace in this horrible end of season chain of events is this outcome!
Na$ri wins the EPL, West Ham get promoted with fat Allardyce, Bolton relegated & QPR stay up, and now Cuntski wins the CL! There is no God in football! π
* sorry + less touches..
What Steve T.
Mr coat, what happened at the time is that their was no proviso for a team winning the CL that wouldn’t have qualified outright.
As it never happened since the advent of the ‘Champions League’ format, I believe.
Only the second time it happened today.
Would have been funny to see Chelsea in the Europa League, but hey-ho.
Thank fuck we finished 3rd. So today’s big losers are those who stared at a so-called ‘gap’ for a long time with their mouth opened….
Well now steve T…That’s some good news! I hope wenger’s seriouly taking all this in. Chelsea winning CL has huge impact on our prospects and how we go about everything.
Just a thought.
Seeing that Abromovich has finally got the one he wants, will he now bugger off?
Think about it. All his major investments are on their last legs, all (or most) over thirty. They’ll have to be replaced soon and that will take a major wedge.
Will he be willing to foot the bill again now he has the one shiny trinket he wanted for his mantlepiece on the flight deck of his Deathstar?
Or will he dissapear at warp speed and continue his mission on the otherside of the galaxy to finally wipe out the rest of the Ewoks?
All four PL teams will go straight to the group stage.
GT,
It’s not that the LWCs failure to qualify is great, because it feckin’ awesome and in such a wonderful manner, it’s just the fact that those cunts at the bus stop have absolutely no past history in Europe yet you will now forever hear it from their lips that they are now well on the way to being on par with your Real Madrids and AC Milans of this world! That cunTerry’s face is going to be unbearable for time immemorial and watch this space, he’ll be acquitted of his racism charge against Anton Ferdinand!
@H2H exactly what I had in mind as well… But I guess tonight’s win may also deepen his love for Chelsea, making him more willing to invest in his team. At least it’s unclear what ramifications this result has on Abramovich’s Chelsea reign. What’s clear is that Chavs, like Citeh, is shit without their oil tycoon.
There is no justice in football and it’s just continues to tell you that no matter how hard you try, if you do things in the right way, as we have been trying to since 2005, you will never get your just rewards – just massive kicks in the teeth!
Matt. The chavs can’t sell out the bus stop. What the fuck would they do with a 60k stadium?
Those above are right though. We must not miss our change to rebuild and come back stronger next year.
Steve T @246,
This should be the last and ultimate motivation to achieve that successful end next season!
Chelsea win the cup
Terry collects it and grins like a dog with two cocks
Abramovich, who ruined football with his money just when common sense was starting to take hold, is being lauded as a superhero
Ashley Cole is able to rewrite history and say he left us for THAT rather than the cash
And we can’t even sing “Thursday nights, Channel 5” at the Spuds, because ITV and ESPN have exclusive rights.
FML
I agree Danc. We have been so up and down this season but have still been head and shoulders above the chavs. Surely motivation enough????
Danc- do not remind me of John Terry plaese I’m pissed off as it is. I know some people get more pleasure seeing Spurs dumped out but to be honest they do not concern me that much. Spurs have along way to go to catch up with us. but this Chelsea win you will not hear the end of it for years to come until we win it more than once
So a team that disrespected AVB every chance they could wins the CL. John Terry gets to lift the Cup. Their owner is deliriously happy, his money gotten on the backs of the down trodden. The ‘game’ we so love is in big trouble. Chelsea and Man City, poster children, for all that is seriously wrong in the EPL. Just more reason for me to be proud of Arsenal.
Dapper Dan: You are guilty of being too complex in your thinking – product of your education no doubt π
Look this is what was decided this evening:
1). Spurtz will not play CL football next season..
2). With no CL football they will have a hard time keeping Modric, Bale, Van the fart…
3). Adeboywhore will fuck off π
4). No CL money, deep in debt already, Harry will probably piss off too..
5)..and finally…Spurtz will definitely not be playing CL football next season!!
(What? Said that already? No I didn’t: read #1 again!)
Steve – can’t we do both?
Laugh at Spurs, and cry in our beer that Chelsea won it?
No more tall stories from gazidis, wenger and phw…we need reinforcents in almost every department…vp should be given whatever he wants,at any cost! The coming season’s the make or break season, either we win the PL to go one better on these muppets or the CL to equal them…or we’ll be the ones checking out thursday flights to azerb…….JUST REALISED I SHOULD HAVE HATED CHELSEA WINNING MORE THAN TOTTS IN THE CL….so sick!
unhappy- You have read Cashley’s mind. He did not have to wait too long to say that
http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/151609.html
Unhappy, Steve T, Wenger’s coat, abbs;
Sickening and i certainly hope so guys and gal!
We are now the only club that can save the true values of British and European football!
It was funny watching Platini handing the medals and trophy to the cunts! He was not happy at all!!!
This is why I ‘m not happy with this Chelsea win, it is not about Spurs. when you get the likes Cashley rubbing it our faces that what gets to me
GT @252,
Heh! I’m really not all that bright mate! π
Of course you’re right mate and i am ecstatic about the LWCs failure but i can’t understand why the cunts CL success has totally obliterated that pleasure! I think it must stem only from the fact that i don’t really see the LWCs as our rivals and i hate the fact that a bunch of amoral cunts have succeeded in such inglorious manner when they are just the biggest bunch of anti-football cunts!
It would have cost $5,000 more a week to keep the bast left-back in the world…we swapped him for Gallas FFS…
A very expensive bunch of anti-football cunts too!
GT @259,
He’s an amoral cunt so he’s always belonged with his cohort at the Bus-Stop! π
DanC: How about this then..
1. We murdered the European Champions 5-3 at their gaff!
2. We finished above them (and all other London clubs) in the PL after our worst start in 56-years…and for two months we had no full-backs to boot!
3. And did I mention….oh? I did? OK then π
Ian Wright – “They do now” Ashley cole. Laughing last. To you all you mugs who caned him! He made the right decision! Swallow and move on.
Jack Wilshere – Every English man should be proud of Chelsea! Even Arsenal and spurs fans! What a season it was!
Some people should just shut up. Tony Adams should teach them what it means to be an Arsenal player.
How can Wrighty say such a thing? I’m shocked, and truly offended.
Come to think of it,we realy shouldnt be hating on them winning it so much,we had our best chance in 2004 when the invincibles reigned supreme…we practically gave it away, had the chance to correct in 2006….well…we shoulda had it before them. The way things are at our club doesnt fill me with hope right now!
And to the argument of whether the Russian cunt will invest more in this rotting carcass of a team…who would? With FFP around the corner it will take even more money to re-build…Maureen will def. not want to come back now (to only be the second manager to win it for them)…Its all good chaps…just that you all can’t see it yet!
In the cold light of day you’ll all come round to my way of thinking..
Snir. You can if you like. But I have always believed in positives so I will laugh at the Spuds. I was also taught that beer was God’s way of showing he really loves us do I have no intention of ruining mine with tears for the chavs.
Anyone for a top up?????? My round.
Cheers Steve T..don’t mind if I do π
GT @261,
Hhhhmmmmmmm, nope, i’m still depressed mate! π
SG @262,
I stopped listening to Ian Wright several years ago! He’s a clown!
As for our Jack, he should just focus on his rehab and stop mouthing-off such politically correct nonsense! I prefer to indulge on what Dench Frimpers has to say at these morbid times!
Just watching the Football League show and I have a question;
If 3rd place is not a trophy then why do the winners of the play offs get a cup?
H2H at 40 – excellent stuff.
Good work at 220, 221 from N7 and Derrick too.
N7 makes some good points re Sp*ds and Chav$ players. Still so frustrating that after spending a gazillion pounds, Abramovich’s bitches can win the Champions League playing such absolutely shit football.
And Lady Luck must live on the Kings Road.
First patient due at 9.15 on Monday morning – a Chav$ki fan, and one who went to Munich.
I’m off to sharpen my elbows. That reminds me Catalan, good work from you too re RvP.
I’ll down a cheeky one with you there Steve, Cheers.
This younger generation of Gooners need a good flogging (or if that’s illegal then they should be make to go watch the MK Dons for 10-years until they get over their shit)…because that what it was like for us older Gooners in the bad old days..
Now here we are after perhaps one of our best seasons for years crying like pussies because some other team won the champions league..FFS
I’m with Steve on this one, Chelsea winning was not the result I wanted and I hate the fact that they have won it but the Spuds missing out is a huge silver lining. I am not in any way celebrating anything, it’s just about finding the positives instead of buring myself in misery.
Anyway, Bedfordshire beckons. See you on the morrow, lovers of the Arse.
Good man, Steve T.@265. Happy to join you in a pint.
GT @261,
Hmmmmmmmm, nope, still depressed mate! π
SG @262,
I haven’t listened to Ian Wright for years as he’s just become an ignorant clown!
As for our Jack, I wish he’d just focus on his rehab and stopping spouting such stuff! What’s happened should motivate him to do all of the right things to get back properly and fully fit!
@265,
Cheers Steve T but i’m off for an early night!
H2H @267,
Heh! If you go to Wembley, someone’s gotta walk up those steps and pick up something whilst others remain down-below crying! π
G’night ‘holics! π
Someone mention Tony Adams, ah yes Snir. Well done. Fraid they broke the mold after him. Tony Adams = Arsenal, forever in my heart.
For Steve T, enjoy! I confess that I feel a bit sorry for the neighbours tonight.
These must have sacrificed a virgin to Satan or something.
This is like death by a thousand cuts..
SHIT! Whoever said it is better to be lucky than good was dead right.
Please let that be Redknappβs deathknell. Please. Let something good come out of the torturous death weβve all suffered tonightβ¦
This could only happen to us but the truth is, we should have secured third comfortably and had we done so, the scum would be in the Ropey next year and we would be all laughing our heads off.
Just when you thought it could not get any worse their captain appears on the pitch in his club shirt.
I donβt like Chelsea, not one bit.
It was fun flirting with the big boys, but ultimately the footballing gods that want to keep the status quo β plus Redknappβs collusion β will keep us where we always were.
All my nightmares rolled into one,
This hurts so much moreβ¦. Season now amounts to a bitter disapointmentβ¦..
Sick to the stomach fate fucking hates us something rotten.
Bye bye Modders. Bye bye Bale. Vertonghen? Remy? byeβ¦and we didnβt get to know you. Third was ours. Now the happy clappers will keep quiet. 47 years my arse.
I wonder whether there was a camera on twitchy,it would be interesting to see his reactions.
I honestly think we are cursed or somethingβ¦that just would not have happened if it was the arse in 4th.
maybe, just maybe something good will come out of this, right now it just really, really frigging hurtsβ¦
know what fuck football and fuck all poncy footballers
Did we just become a laughing stock again? Good job Redknapp, good job.
I canβt think of any appropriate swear words. Going to have to invent new ones.
It surely only can get better. Never can we have a season like this againβ¦even for Spurs fans this was tough.
What weβre the chances at the start of this season that Iβd end up preferring to finish 5th than 4th? Itβs just relentless this βbeing a Spurs fanβ thing. Relentless.
Also this one made me laugh: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2146837/Chelsea-considering-shock-approach-Redknapp-drawing-Guardiola-blank.html
H2H –
the “third / fourth place is a trophy” thing used to get on my nerves too.
I’m not saying I’m happy with it now, but as Man City and Chelsea’s operating losses spiral ever further out of control you wonder how we will ever win the league again.
Many sets of fans will have been experiencing those sentiments for some years already, but if UEFA or the Premier League don’t do something real to curtail these excesses, we will all be watching La Liga Mk II before too much more time has passed.
Not exactly an original thought but the problem is becoming much more immediate.
Man Utd have had to pay Β£71 million towards the ‘Glazer’s financial requirements’ apparently this year, so would seem unlikely to be strengthening too much in the summer.
The Totts, as N7 points out, are now likely to lose players.
Chelsea ,with a re-enthused Abramovich, may decide to overhaul their squad.
Liverpool are miles away from anything.
That leaves us, and I’m not adding any fuel to any fires in that direction. It is simply wait and see.
It could be a great chance to catch out our wealthier opponents as Citeh sort out their Tevez, Balotelli, Aguero, Johnson, De Jong situations.
Please Arsenal, let’s give it a real go.
Weren’t you guys telling me how big of a tragedy it would be if Chelsea won the CL, and now everyone is fine with it, because Spurs are out of the CL?
8ball I’m an arsenal man FUCk the rest.don’t give a shit what they do..
Derrick et al,
This has helped me in my deepest moments of despair; I hope it helps?! π
http://youtu.be/scif2vfg1ug
COYG!!!
Snir, it’s bloody annoying. I don’t like the fact they have one it one tiny bit, but they are the first London club, not the first English club.
Remember my piece about Jemima the other day ? The little girl who died of an aneurism at 13 years of age ?
This is not a tragedy mate.
*they have won it*
sorry *who died of*
Trev @277
From the faces of many of the “well and good” of Uefa, Platini included, that i witnessed during the presentation ceremony tonight, one major positive that may transpire from all of this disgust is a full implementation of the “financial fair-play” rules without exception soon by the 2014 deadline! Platini’s face as he handed over the trophy to the cunts’ principal cunts (Terry and Lampard) was not that of a man at ease with the whole situation!
Adieu!
Trev – I didn’t say it was, I said, that’s what everybody has been telling me, and now everybody changed their minds…
Wow, does scumbag even define John Terry? How can the vile human being that he is , even think of celebrating the cup which he contributed nothign to (Perhaps he did , by getting himself sent off – best thing that happend to Chavs!)
Utterly disgusting. The way he was running around in his team strip as if he won them the CL or something
..
Positives from today
1. Sp*rs are fucked
2. John Terry gets a contract for life at Chelsea and keeps Lampard with him
—
Thank fuck for Gibbo. π
We need mr hill wood to make a statement of intent!
Long time reader, first time poster. Chelsea winning is an absolute disaster. The best result was Chelsea losing THEN Spuds getting knocked out in qualifying. The best of both worlds.
Greetings 1st time poster@ 291. Reminds me of that old Chelsea riddle. ‘What do you call 64 Chelsea fans on the moon? Answer ‘A mistake.’ ‘What do you call all Chelsea fans on the moon?’ Answer’ Problem solved.’ Oh, what to do, what to do.
Nurse ABB in da house y’all π
A full hour before! Wow…that’s an hour that I’ll never get back…where does time really go? I have so many questions…but only one answer: ARSENAL….
Gooner Terry, Sorry I missed you. Busy reading comments at ACLF. Don’t understand Robben being the villain. And hyenas are very misunderstood creatures.
Nurse abb, I’m not used to seeing you on the nightshift. Are you ready for a run at 300?
GoonerTerry, Are you still there or have you shoved off for a few cool ones on a hot Jamaica night?
Point is, I can’t auto-assist all the way to 300 or I will be endlessly and unjustly persecuted from here to kingdom come. *spectacularly holds up the ball despite marauding attacks from rotating defenders and waits for a real, live teammate to pass to.*
Hi 8ball, Why not? It will be a brace for me. Hope doggy doing ok.
Well, the really cool thing about hyenas is that the females rule. That and their bite force is the strongest of any mammal. And they leave no crumbs.
Cheers, ABB. And a truly unique goal. No doubt the defenders shied away after spotting an entire attacking force of hyenas. Maybe this summer Arsene should launch a recruiting drive for some Nigerian hyenas whilst in country? Quite promising, the parts about leaving no crumbs, and the females ruling. They should effectively frighten the living daylights out of the likes of Yakubu and Elokobi (though I think they were both relegated anyway?), not to mention sissies like Nani and Bale. π
Just popped in to say good night…well in Nurse…I will plead with the holic authorities for clemency for your self-assist as it was almost a full 10-minutes between shots..
1:09 AM Jamaica time…Night aall
Football died yesterday, at least a little bit
Chelsea winning the European cup is everything that is wrong with football at the moment. This means sugar daddy ownership is validated now. All my football supporting mates here say, “what’s wrong with that? what’s wrong with shelling out money if you have it? what’s wrong with big wages to big players?” And they conclude, “see, Arsenal needs to spend this way to win things”
Fuck. Don’t they see how inherently unfair it is?
I hate this shit
Harsha, We all feel your angst. But life is unfair. But you know and feel how special our club is, take comfort in that. The Arsenal will prevail. Look at Newcastle and Wigan, they’ve managed to do quite nicely on meager budgets. 8ball you are a gem. Gooner Terry, no worries, I’ve earned that goal and no dubious goals committee is taking it away from me.
There was football yesterday?
There’s a cunt who calls himself ‘windy’ on the arses, but definitely isn’t Wind :p
Morning Ollie,
This morning I will be mainly in denial…
Snir, I don’t see many celebrating. There’s a huge difference between that and choosing to focus on what little positives can be taken from last night. Terry, Cole and the others would still have been cunts if they had lost last night and quite frankly I don’t really care about them being the first team from London to win it, because let’s not forget that this is still a very, very expensively assembled team we’re talking about and they really should have won the CL years ago with all that money they spent. Torres and Luiz alone cost more than our entire starting XI v WBA, for example. Hell, I’m not even sure our team cost as much as only Torres when I think about it.
(Woj practically for free, Jenkinson abt Β£2m, Kos/Verm around Β£10m each, Santos around Β£5, Song and the Coq a few hundred thousand each, Benayoun loan, Rosicky around Β£7m I think, Gervinho around Β£10m and RvP Β£2m)
And besides, I am not going to give Chelsea fans the satisfaction of me whining about it. They won it, I didn’t like that but now let’s turn our focus back to what really matters: The Arsenal.
Very late to the post. Very fucking well said Holic. I raise the first glass of the day to you.
Hopefully next year I will manage to experience the Tollie Brollie
Lars – I’m aware of all that, I’m just surprised that’s the way people decided to take it with all the build up to it in the past few weeks in the bar.
If we go back and look at people’s posts it’d be quite surprising to see that people took it the way they did.
Well in abb for the Hyena Pack 300, I like this new feisty you π
Ollie @ 306, heh! I can’t handle the Arses man, for one thing it doesn’t smoothly open on my mobile like this little beauty of a website π and its really Wild on there, I might just get blown away… π
Snir, I can of course not speak for others but for me it’s about choosing not to waste my energy on walking around being angry and pissed off. Chelsea won it and that sucks but there is nothing we can do about it now so why dwell on it? Much more fun to just have a giggle at the Sp*rs fans because as much as we dislike what happened last night, it’s not even close to what they must feel now.
‘holic 307. Morning to you Sir, it’s good tactics.
And there’s still frogball tonight, amazingly.
Walking around west London and all I see is chavs in pikey tops so f””’g annoying So so wrong !!!!
‘Morning ‘Holic & ‘Holics
Unusually ‘depressed’ about the events in Munich last night. For me another piece of the beautiful game was made ugly yesterday whilst laughing at The LWCs does not fully compensate for what happened.
Good points, I thought, from Steve T, H2H & Trev above and I’m with Lars in that there’s nothing we can do about it so might as well move on…. but I’ll wallow a little bit first.
UTA!
I wish WEnger has given the 2004 team 2 more seasons. I felt at that time he dismantled than team a bit early. you look at Chelsea and you see who made the diffrence on the night. its the old heads. Ac milan had that trend with sticking with old players for longer than normal and payed for them because youy can’t buy experience. Rednapp had a collection of old Arsenal players at Portsmouth won him the FA cup.Bergkamp, Lunberg, Viera Gilberto, Pires, Campbell all had a lot left in the tank to really give it another go in the C.league. But he felt at that time “Project Kids” was the way to go and failed in the end. It seems to me Wenger has gone back to the old days by signing bigger stronger more expereinced players and adding the young. I hope we can produce another team based on the 2004 strengths. We don’t have Messi and we can’t be like Barcelona. but a mix of skill and physical strength is the way to go
@ 307 Goonerholic
This morning I will be mainly in denialβ¦
ha ha ha!
Me too.

@ 295arsabeatbarca
Regarding hyenas, I was comparing them to clubs like Man City and Barca. However, if it’s true that hyenas are matriarchal, I am warming to them a bit. And that bite force factoid is quite impressive. However, they are still ugly thieving bastards, aren’t they? π So go on, convince me – why are hyenas misunderstood?
Just over a week into the close-season and life without football feels pretty good!!!!!
I like the crumbs fact about hyenas most.
Lions seriously hate them, apparently.
Chelski done the double !!!! FA cup ok could handle that, Just !!!!!!
CL winners NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!
Cruel fait why do you keep mocking me, every chelski fan who went under cover during the season will be back out in their Terry shirts in no time. Far *gasps for air* too many *struggles for words* fair weather supports of chelski appearing again *faints unable to cope with pain*
On the other hand the spuds not in CL AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Too much ?
Harry “As long as were in and abouts there we have a chance of winning it” *PL*
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA
I will be gracious thou “fuck you very much Bay Mun”
At the end of the day we are the Arsenal and why should we care who wins what if its not us.
Hey FunGunner, Most excellent my dear, you took the bait. Hyenas are most definetly matriarchal and are larger then their male counterparts. Misunderstood, you bet. Although known for their scavenging, they do their fair share of hunting. Mr C, lions do hate them for good reason. They share the same prey base and many a lion has been killed or maimed by these animals. They are so loaded with testosterone that when in the womb they have been known to kill off their weaker sibblings.
Lars 139, it took a while, but now I have seen that sort of posts in that other place that has quite a few mad cunts in it.
@ 321 arsabeatbarca
Thanks for the extra nuggets of information, but I have to say, matriarchy notwithstanding, you’re not making them sound that appealing – especially to someone who practically worships lions and elephants. I know lions aren’t above scavenging and nicking baby gazelles off hard-working single mum leopards etc, but they get away with it because they are so damn beautiful, their cubs are adorable and they are such great hunters. So sell hyenas to me – they obviously can’t compete on the looks front, but perhaps they are attractive in other ways. I’m interested. Are they genuinely social animals or do they just band together for hunting/scavenging purposes? Are the mums/dads good parents? Extended families? What about their level of intelligence? Do they have a YouTube-worthy USP like the meerkats sentry stance? Do they go head to head with snakes and survive? Am I likely to find cute clips of baby hyenas gambolling or falling off tree stumps and the like? (I suspect the answer to that last question is no…)
FunGunner. It may be a hard sell. Hyenas all look like Frank Lampard. π
Abb – excellent stuff @251, sorry I missed it yesterday.
However, I’m not joining the sucker-uppers with regard to your outrageous self assist at 300. Yellow card and no mistake.
Err hmm, take that last sentence back, please.
I seemed to momentarily overlook your attack force of sibling destroying foetus cannibals. How silly of me – I insist on taking your yellow card π
@ BT8BBGFG
ha ha
What Lars said @308.
Mr C – lions seriously hate crumbs ???
We’ll be off on another confectionery based punfest soon if this place continues to be a Lion Bar.
Yesterday’s result Mars the good feeling I had a week ago.
Good one 8ball! FG, I adore all the big cats and elles too. The lion population is in serious decline. Their biggest threat is from man. And yes, they make great parents. I would suggest you check out the film ‘Growing up Hyena’ (you can find it on Animal Planet). It chronicles the lives of several orphans who are hand reared. You will also be treated to the rare sight of these youngsters playing with lion cubs, while their mothers look anxiously on behind a fence. btw, interesting to note, most folks believe hyenas are closely related to canine species but in fact genetically, are closer to felines. Meerkats (terribly adorable) usually can withstand a venomous snake bite but not always. Really enjoyed talking with you (nods her head in approval).
Sorry Trev! One of my all time heroes, was the late great Steve Irwin aka The Croccodile Hunter. Crikey, I miss him!
OK, thanks, abb. Something to get my teeth into now. Geddit?
Snir @280 ,
Sorry you’ve lost me. Don’t think there’s been any change in attitude . Most Gooners deeply unhappy about last night’s result.
The fact that it adversely affects The Totts is a small consolation , and a very funny consolation at that , but only a consolation all the same.
‘holic @307,
“Denial”; 4 more stages to go! I’m already on stage 2, anger!
Still all Curly-Wurly-ed-up about last night’s disgrace!
Seeing way too many chav cunts in their replicas around today! π‘
Looks like abbs made the bar’s go all wild-kingdom?! Hyenas, lions, elephants, “compare-the-meerkats.com”! Fascinating patrons at this establishment! Steve Irwin certainly left us way before his time!
Trev @283,
A clinical & human tragedy, no but a footballing and sporting tragedy, yes!
Trev @325,
Heh! π
Tabs @333,
Agreed!
It’s certainly a moral & ethical tragedy aswell!
I posted a rather angry drink on here last night, it didn’t go through for some reason but it echoed the RIP Football that was being said by many + a side swipe @ Robben for his uselessness all game (cut in on your right much :?) and with the penalty miss/save but now that I’ve had time to sleep on it & mull it over, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is indeed a shame that Chβ¬l$ki will go down in history as the first London Club to win the Champions League and its a shame Abramovich got his Russian Gangster Hands on the Trophy & its almost an even bigger shame that the Racist Cunt John Terry was parading around the pitch in the full kit like he’d scored the winner & got the biggest cheer when he lifted it but there is a silver lining, as thin as it may be.
Tottenham aren’t going to be in the Champions League, which means they might lose most of their players ala Bale, Modric, with near no chance of retaining Adebaywhore & signing Vertonghen or Remy etc.
Arsenal have a chance to steal a march on the signings of Vertonghen/Hoilett if Wenger pleases & the choice for other signings between us & them becomes much easier.
We may not go down in history as the first club from London to win the Champions League, but we’ll be known as the first London Club to win it with class & not on the back of anyone’s Dirty Money.
We smashed the European Champions 5-3 in their own backyard π
We finished 3 places above the European Champions π
All of these points mean that we can have an even more successful next season on the back of a great beginning to the season, and that’s all that matters to me π
Wind @337,
Good stuff mate! π
Wind, I like it when you get on your soap box (but Robben worked his arse off last night!) Dan C, hello. FG, we need to get all the gals together for a Ladies vs Gents night at the bar, sort of a Battle of the Wits, if you will. Deliah can be our captain. Ette, gooner girl, girl who likes gooners, etc. can all have their say! Dare I say which team will win…
Tabs- that’s exactly what I said.
Morning Holics – Its warm & sunny here in Kingston, Jamaica π
Well you can all be pissed off and angry about the blue cunts if you like…but all I can think about today is that BUT for Gibbs’ tackle it would be us today who would be suicidal …
IMO unhappy people are just unhappy..nothing can really help them! If we had won the CL yesterday they would have been moaning this morning about how we finished 6th in the PL…or some other shit…FACT!!
I don’t know who it was that mentioned in the drinks yesterday that they don’t regard the LWC’s as our main rivals!! Are you fecking kidding??? Chel$ki have no history before the thieving Russian & Maureen took over. Growing up they were always a 4-point banker for the Arsenal. For an Arsenal fan of my era its always been Tottenham…and for all those who think that life is unbearable today because the blue cunts got a jammy win in Munchen then consider this:
Gibbs misses his block and Albion equalize; The Spuds go third; We suffer un-speakable agonies from the “Mind the Gap” bitches down the road; Who have not killed themselves are hoping against all odds that Chel$ki loses against Bayern so we can salvage something from our miserable season; We are hanging on biting our nails to the quick listening to all those “Power has shifted”, “Who will now come to the Arsenal now” , “Their best players will now leave now” crap; 87-Minutes Bayers scores!! OMG! COYG…God still loves us!!; Then Drogba scores and the world as we knew it ended….
Think about all that doomers π
@GT 341, heh! Talking about perspective. Preach it my brother.
GT @341,
Heh! Heh! You’re finally making me smile buddy! π
Praise be to Pastor Gooner (Not that Cunt) Terry in sunny Jamaica! Gwaan! 8-D
Gwann! π
Dapper Dan: I try my best to keep you all happy but its tough sometimes…
You know what I am talking about Impeccable ONE!!
Gwaan you Gunners π
For all that Drogba is a diving, cheating cunt, what he has done and continues to do for his people back in Ivory Coast is highly commendable! He’s a beacon of light and hope back there for many and from that I am take some crumbs of comfort from the Chavs (or should i rather say, Drogba’s) win.
GT @345,
You’re doing a grand job my friend! Thanks Crunchie it’s all over now! π
@ 346 DanC
What you say about Drogba reminds me of why I still have a little time for Adebayor. His reputation is as a mercenary but he supports thousands of people financially, directly or indirectly, and stood up to his national FA on behalf of all the players. And of course he did provide leadership after that awful bus tragedy.
Woyo soon expects to have all the little boys in line for his sado-masochistic games, I see:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18136011
Football is about fine margins:
– Dennis lays the ball down on the penalty spot in the dying minutes of our FA Cup semi-final against United – We started to sing…
– Henry is clean through with only the Barca goalie to beat – 2-0 and we win the champions league..with 10-men!!
– Robin is one yard in front of goal with the ball in his control to make it 4-0 against Milan..
I have suffered hundreds, hundreds of these moments in over 45-years of supporting the Arsenal. You don’t forget anything. Holics will tell you…everything is crystal clear…the pain is still apparent…you are so full of joy and despair from the Arsenal that think you can’t hold another drop…so you learn not to take on the un-necessary crap of other teams….just so you can save your love for the team you love…
45-years and still in love…that’s all π
FunGooner @348,
Absolutely! The same certainly can’t be said for that cuntTerry and Na$ri! Selfish-feckers!
Looking forward to Abbs’ “Battle of the Sexes” gathering!
Hope you lovely ladies can handle at least one very big-boy decked in mint-coloured speedos!
Abbs, please make sure that lots of cookies and cream are made available for this rather larger member of the male team! π
GT @350,
Heh! π
Very well put maestro!
Very apt i think! π
http://youtu.be/kd9TlGDZGkI
And another π
http://youtu.be/d-diB65scQU
Nurse ABB: if you decide to even it up with a honorary bloke on your team – I’d like to be considered please….I think that the guys on here – “Big” DanC notwithstanding – will get massacered in a fair fight..
,,,just sayin’ like π
Dapper Dan @ 354: Don’t worry be happy” ..Perfect π
GTerry @350 – good stuff.
Abb @339 –
a Ladies vs Gents ‘Battle of the Wits’ ??
I fear you will be walking into battle unarmed Abb.
Wolfie, were you aware that Gooner Terry is anxious to join the ladies ? π
GT @355, 356
Heh! π
Glad you liked it! π
Now that the season is all but over wrt the EPL, if it is truly be regarded as a good season for us, we must genuinely restructure and build to become serious contenders for all the major trophies next season (i.e. the EPL title and, more importantly as i never actually realised until last night how much capturing it would mean to me, the European Champions League title).
Come on the AFC board, help Arsene realise his and all of our dream in Europe once and for all for the good of all that love beautiful football! π
@ 339 abb
Sorry, didn’t see this before. Sounds like fun, but not sure how much use I’d be!
Evening all. Cracking day of cricket again. Well played WIndies.
Ready for tonight now. Big one for Bordeaux at St Etienne, and a mahoosive one for Montpellier at Auxerre.
Ah, ‘holic. Didn’t realise you were going to the cricket again. Or was it a great day of cricket from the comfort of home?
Home Ollie.
Do I watch Bordeaux, or the simulcast?
‘holic,
Tell me mate, what’s the appeal of cricket these days, aside from sitting in the sun, when it decides to come out that is, getting pissed?
The Kensington Oval in Barbados and Newlands in Cape Town are exempt from you answer! π
If the relegation battle interests you, the multicast could be full of drama.
I don’t think there will be much drama for the title.
St Etienne vs Bordeaux is a ‘winner takes it all’ game, so interesting on its own. (Well if St Etienne win, Rennes could still pip them if they get a better goal difference). What chances a draw (that would leave the door even more open to Rennes)?
There are 9 out of 10 games with something riding on them. Canal+, sadly, but expectedly said they’ll focus mostly on the PSG and Montpellier games.
GT aka G(NT)T. You have, at various points above, once more put your finger on it. Hear hear, +1, what he said etc etc.
Guv’nor – since I have to rely on Auntie Beeb, I’m somewhat out of touch with cricket these days. What’s the pitch doing and what sort of bowlers do the WIndies have? 200-odd in a day with eight wickets standing ought to be fairly straightforward, requiring concentration mainly. However, two wickets down in four overs suggests that concentration may be in short supply – assuming a sane pitch and merely human bowlers.
I’ll go with Bordeaux. I’m sure they will bring updates from the big two games.
The appeal of cricket, Dan? Just a day out, or following the whole thing from home as well?
The day out is simple. Great venue, top notch competitive battle between bat and ball, good company, cracking chat, and tasty food and champers (at a price!)
The whole thing? That second reason and informative, humorous commentary. (And first-class officiating in the main as well. Technology used as an aid, not as a stick to beat umpires with.)
Evening Oxon. Low, slow track means runs have to be worked for. We are still in the driving seat although they had eighteen minutes to come steaming in tonight and used them well.
In the morning the ball will soon age and there is no devilment in the track. In theory we should be able to cruise to under 200 just by playing the bad balls.
That isn’t always the England way though. There could yet be a few twists and turns.
Thanks ‘holic. Will keep fingers crossed tomorrow
Guvnor @366,
I see! π
I’ve tried it a few times and totally agree on the social aspects; especially when the weather’s to-die-for or the setting is exotic!
Regarding the French league, does anyone have any updates wrt the potential personnel that Arsene may be recruiting this off-season? Aside from M’Villa, i’ve not seen much of the others! What’s the inside track across la Manche Ollie & gents?
DanC: You’d have to add Sabina Park, Jamaica to that list…there’s nothing like those half-nekkid girls on the mound, red stripe, wet tee-shirts, batty-riders, spicy food, more drinks…and for those interested some guys throwing balls (down Wolfie!) at each other.
Hehe… π
Hey Oxon mate…missed you recently..
GT @370,
Heh! π
Now you’re talking my language! Sounds awesome! I’m there on the return tour! π
If i’m not mistaken, i understand that Micky Jagger’s usually in attendance too?! Is that at Sabina?
Jagger is always here – Keith Richards has a home here and I think Jagger also comes for the Ganja..or so it appears..
GT @370,
Heh! Heh! π
Rockin’ well into their 8th decade! Gwaan man!!! π
http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/123634/1/watch-saint-etienne-vs-girondins-bordeaux.html
Buffering a bit at present.
May go to simulcast if it continues.
Ta, I’ll try to keep an eye on that screen from time to time.
A block of Bordeaux fans penned in by the corner flag…
Not for the first time this season I can use my old “Dijon not cutting the mustard” gag Rennes currently fifth π
Heh, Auxerre supporters ending their strike now, coming onto the stands while booing. They might as well support Montpellier tonight.
Oh fuck, St Etienne score.
Oh dear, no π
Extraordinarily crap defending.
Oh, Auxerre score, our old friend Kapo. This might get interesting.
Yeeeeeees! Diabate, super header.
1-1, yeah!
For all those getting confused, no, there aren’t 20 teams playing on the same pitch now.
Lille score.
Lorient score. Not Campbell. Well maybe there will be no upset in the table after all, rather than in the results.
Bordeaux yes!!! 2-1
Superb,
and Lorient lead PSG too π
Ajaccio 2-0, looks like there may be 2 Corsican teams in the top division next year.
Lorient vs PSG stopped because of flares from PSG fans….while Montpellier equalise.
Mental.
PSG scum kicking off I see.
Quelle suprise, innit, ‘holic?
DanC @ 338, thanks π
abb @ 339, get on my soapbox π He was too greedy, even more so after he cocked up the penalty, 15 shots or so with no result, didn’t realise that it was too late to do it all by himself, a poor performance from a player of his calibre in my opinion.
GT @ 341, nice drink Geezer but I ain’t a ‘doomer’ as you might of conceived from my rant/drink @ 337, look at all my positives I drew forth from the situation. ‘Glass Half-Full’ Wind they should call me..! π
Money generally takes two seasons to buy a league title, it seems.
Bollocks, 2-2 in St Etienne.
Oh bollocks.
Brest score.
Looks like, unexpectedly, the bottom of the table doesn’t bring the expected drama, although Caen are the victim of the only place swap.
Rennes 3-0, which means basically St Etienne are very unlikely to get that 5th spot.
Why not be gracious and gift a goal to the mighty Girondins then?
Match stopped in Auxerre now.
Superb punch into his own net by Lloris.
Well in ‘Holic striking like an adder……
Only now realised it was post 399, glad nothing happened in the meantime, or I would have self-assisted.
Well, you forced that punch, ‘holic! π
But indeed.
4-0 Rennes, basically St Etienne have no chance now, so it’s all about Bordeaux scoring (or not π )
The Guvnor using his old ‘mustard’ joke with relish, I see. π
PSG equalise
Ah, we’ve got a bit beyond confectionery now.
If it’s already past curfew time, I expect saucy jokes soon.
Campbell nearly scores.
Well, that’s one for the soup jokes now.
Bottom 3 looks done and dusted.
Disappointingly, they never changed since (I think) the first Ajaccio goal so very early in the evening.
Yeeeeeeeeeees! π
YES!!!!!!!!!!!! 3-2 now.
…and I saw that saucy response, Trev. π
One has to say that the last day of the league in Ligue 1, whatever is at stake, rarely disappoints in term of number of goals.
Dijon down to 9 men in Rennes.
That Dijon twat had money on himself to get a red card, surely?
4-3 for Nice in Lyon. Spectacular.
What a goal by Goncalves for Nice.
PSG 2-1
Interesting that the Auxerre Montpellier game will be lasting for another 15 minutes after the final whistle in Lorient.
5-0 Rennes.
Dijon player injured, all 3 subs used: Dijon will finish the game 8 vs 11….
Good chance for Auxerre there.
Maybe the Champion is not quite decided just yet.
Rennes could catch Bordeaux on goal difference at this rate π
Yes, Bordeaux did it. Splendid second part of the season.
Hey, Bordeaux make it.
Thursday nights busy for Ollie next season! π
No, ‘holic, they’re 1 point behind.
Auxerre game stopped again.
Game over in Lorient. PSG win.
Now Montpellier have more than 15 minutes to play. If the game is not abandoned.
Congrats to Ollie’s Bordeux.
Back drink time, make way at the bar……. coming through.
First, drinks for the lads please squire and one for your good self.
So the Auxerre fan might just hand the title to Montpellier, very weird.
I can see why Auxerre are going down. Couple of right salad dodgers on the bench. π
Totally mental end to the season.
FunGunner, Yep, we ladies need you like a bee needs her honey. Now Trev…funny you should say that. First of all Gooner Terry has offered his expertise to the fairer sex (you should be shaking in your boots). Secondly, any man who has a Dr title (real or imaginary) shall be excluded from the festivities. That should even things up a bit. Haven’t decided who Wolfie will play for, bit of a sticky wicket, that one. Now in Futbol news, can it be Juve lost to Napoli?!
I don’t think Auxerre will have the heart to try and score after this, I think it’s game over for the League and it will be a very boring 20 minutes with nothing happening, or they might even gift a goal to Montpellier.
Eden Cuntzard about to speak to Lille fans.
Game has restarted.
I’m watching the game now, fans being escorted out the stadium.
Why did it stop?
Pitch invasion?
Flares, and fans throwing objects, H2H.
Utaka scores, 2-1 game over.
Cheers Ollie.
Looks like its game done now.
Ah, the clock is back. But Auxerre don’t have anything to play for, so even if there was a vague chance of exciting stuff at 1-1, I don’t think so now.
I rather hate Montpellier and their president, but to be fair, they don’t have players I hate, and they deserve it.
Also PSG now being another Petrol Club, fuck them.
Well the clock is probably a bit wrong, they admitted they don’t know.
Satelite connection between France and Holland frozen.
The dutch commentater (who watches from a studio somewhere in A’dam) hasn’t got a clue what he has to do now.
PIcture returned just in time for the final whistle.
Over for real now.
Real shame Lille couldn’t win it. Although, fuck Hazard.
So let’s just say it’s a shame Bordeaux started their season very late, Arsenal-style.
They could have been Champions on their recent form π
I’m not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.
I got very used to being lazy over the last 2 weeks.
I have to say Dugarry called the title race (predictable), the bottom 3 and the 5th place right at the start of the evening.
I’m sure he didn’t put money on it though, but you might want to interview him before placing the pound next season, ‘holic.
And now Hazard may be going to Cuntski rather than Manchester.
Another reason to feel bad about yesterday’s game.
Hazard really is the worst kind of ‘whoring himself’ player though, fuck him.
Back dring done.
====
Agree with everything that Lars said.We weren’t the first London team to do the double either, it didn’t do the team that did much good over the next 51years now did it?
—
Well preached Bruva Tel, tell ’em what’s what brederen.
—
Harsha.
If you think money is killing the game, then football’s been on its death bed for donkeys.
For years the biggest clubs have been buying titles all over the world. Bayern in Germany, the Red (and now the Blue) Mancs plus the Auld Firm in the UK, Ajax in Holland, Real Madrid in Spain, it’s not a new phenomenum, in fact it even pre dates Sky. Football lost it’s soul years ago. Once the money men came in, for example with shirt sponserships, the writing was on the wall. It was only ever going to be a matter of time untill the insanly wealthy were going to move in and use clubs as their playthings to stroke their over inflated egos, sometimes it works, many times it has gone spectacularly wrong.
When I was a kid the chavs were crap and would hardly show up on the rader, but to be honest they were improving pre RA. His mega dough just took them to the next level.
Man City were a joke before the oil bucks were pumped in, but the United fans can bitch all they want about it being unfair but they’re convienently forgeting that their club has been distorting the transfer market for years.
We can also bitch a bit, but lets not forget that we were one of the major forces behind the break off PL, why? Well quite simply because the club wanted to make more money.
The only way things will change is if Uefa actually impliment their Fair Play Rules, but if history tells us anything, it is that Uefa couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery, so I’m not going to hold my breath. Plus, do you really think that some of the richest people on the planet are going to let them fuck around with the million, katrillion squid that they have pumped into their respective teams? No, no, no. They’ll get their lawyers to punch loop holes in whatever rules Uefa can come up with to insure that the rich stay rich.
Maybe it’s shitty, but it’s just the way it is.
Ofcourse all the money isn’t all bad. The stadia are much safer, cleaner and better then they were when I was a lad. Plus the coverage of our beloved game has improved immensly and it’s possible to follow your club of choice from almost every corner of the globe.
To summarise, fuck the Chavs, the Mancs, the LWC’s in fact anyone that’s not us.
Arsenal Forever!!!!
Ollie.
That Hazard geezer really is becomming a bit of a slut. He’s reminding me a bit of Robiniho. He’ll probably end up signing for the biggest wad of wonga, oblivious to who he’s signed for.
Here’s hoping that Hull get a sugar daddy before the new season starts. π
Hello fellas.
I don’t remember who wrote it, but I came across somebody writing something I totally agree with.
We haven’t won anything for the past 7 years because we’re in a constant state of rebuilding.
We keep on releasing players who are our top players and recover just enough to remain where we were instead of improve.
Cole, Pires, Henry, Gilberto, Hleb, Flamini, Adebayor, Toure, Gallas, Nasri, Cesc.
If we let go of RvP we will recover, make no mistake about it, but we will recover for third, not first.
On the other hand, if we strengthen enough with Poldi, M’Vila, Kagawa (who we’re in talks with) and another striker, and keep the likes of Song, RvP, and Theo, we are genuine contenders.
We have to stop this snowball of recovering after departures.
Snir @447,
I agree with your points and Kagawa would be a great signing on very many levels, beyond just his creativity.
Wrt Hazard, unlike a few have been expressing, i still would welcome his signing as he’s undoubtedly quality!
I hope that for the many months that he’s been mouthing off publicly, he’s been playing everyone, including his own agent for a fool, and he’s always been an Arsenal-bound boy to be under the tutelage of Prof Wenger!
H2H @445,
Certainly, but one would have hoped that by now this disgusting cycle would somehow be nearing its end rather than just being further enhanced!
H2H @445,
The world we unfortunately live in is still far from being one of equals regardless of the popular public uprisings, ousting of dictators and overt exposure of miscreants!
Sorry DanC, you are a top man but I wouldn’t want Hazard at our club. Indubitably, he’s the 2012 version of the chinless lezzie. No thank you
@452,
Heh! π A drink for my Impeccable friend please bar-keep as i bid him and you a goodnight! Unfortunately, I must get a rather good night’s slumber before a rather busy day in theatre this morning. The registrars that they give us to train nowadays require you to hold their hands far too often! The NHS certainly isn’t what is used to be when i was a middle-grade! Salut!
Cheers DanC. Thanks for the drink. Get a good night’s rest my friend as you deserve it
This is just bizarre: http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/wtf-chinas-now-tv-promote-euro-2012-with-shocking-animation-of-big-ben-the-eiffel-tower-the-colosseum-in-flames/
DanC @ 453, that’s a interesting one, when I went on Work Experience at a Hospital just out of Morden, the Registrar there seemed more uncertain than the F2 Doctors! Good times… π
Re: NBN @455. Quite clearly, you do not have a future in the Chinese advertising industry. π
Bt8b: or anywhere else, come to that. It was the anime that threw me…
Having spent the entire weekend playing in a Touch Rugby tournament with a gloating Chel$ki fan in our team, I can safely say I too was upset with the result.
But, I think GT hit the nail on the head with his post @341.
Ultimately, it could’ve been much, much worse for us. They can enjoy their fluked victory. If it was us, we would be doing the same.
And when you think of it, it does mean that the LWCs could most probably slink back into midtable mediocrity after this.
I know not being in the CL doesn’t mean good players won’t sign for them but a good few of their current players are on their last legs and were already looking to move.
Also, as H2H said @445, money has been in the game forever. We still have a chance to compete I think. Let’s hope we can just keep hold of everyone we want to keep this close season and strengthen for next season.
Still pissed about the way the HT league table ended up though. Damn you Wolfie and your Small Balls!
According to Nurse ABB Wolfie’s a sticky wicket! Who’d have thunk it? π
GT, how goes it my brother?
I’m intrigued and more than a little disturbed at this “sticky wicket” revelation. Quite frankly, I’m a bit “stumped” for words π
I thought you had won the HT league CoR. What happened?
I thought so too Harsha! But on the very last day, Wolfie’s team had two defenders who received “bonuses” by the FFL and his team nicked the HT title by 2 points after the table was recalculated! Gutted.
I think I’ll be relying on oil-money next season…
GT..
excellent post earlier. Not sure when it was, but you know the one! Basically… it could be worse, we could be spuds!
Trev.
Lions hate crumbs as they are murder to get out of their whiskers. Obviously.
DanC… have fun in theatre. Which play is it? π
All… a very pleasant morning back drink (should that be a reflux or an enema?)
Morning all!
Firstly, R.I.P. Robin Gibb.
Ollie/’Holic – Thank you for the education on French footie, you have roused my interest for next season.
Secondly, I wonder how long before we get linked with Modric, Bale or Torres? Roll-on silly season π
H2H – Good stuff @ #445. We cetainly have made our own bed but doubt many saw the oil money coming when the PL was set up.
Piping hot coffee on the bar for those that want/need it.
I’m so bored, I’m rereading the Arsenal stats entry on wikipedia.
Did you know that Arsenal’s record win is 26β1 in a match against Paris XI on 5th December 1904?
Fucking get in.
Gooner Terry
Fine posts @ #s 341 & 350. Straight from the heart.
UTA!
What dreadful weather.
In other news, I see Giroud has been named ‘top scorer’ on account of having scored less penalties than Nene. Didn’t know that sort of rule existed.
Is there a similar rule in England?
Bales off ! Not sure if that’s a football or a cricket post this morning π
Catalan –
I thought only domestic cats ate Whiskers ?
How do lions get the tins open ?
Cheers TS, I’ll join you in a coffee.
Afternoon all.
Not much going on in the Goonerverse at all, I suppose this is the start of summer.
I may even go and sit outside in my beergarden.
A sneaky lunchtime half for anyone interested.
Re: TS @466. Speaking of Gibb, since we have Gibbs does that mean we have all the brothers? Just wondering. π
More bad Bee Gees humour for those who don’t want it: I guess he’s not stayin’ alive anymore. Sorry. RIP and all that …
Afternoon Holics..this is for Dr Dapper DanC and Nurse Abb – Inspired by Catalan π
Scene: Production set of the play “Doctors at Large” ; Dapper DanC is looking disgruntled and is beginning to regret using real Doctors instead of actors for his debut production…we join a heated discussion at the pre-rehearsal conference:
DanC: Look you don’t have to have the man’s entire medical history!
Young Resident: But how will I know how to give an opinion?!
DanC (exasperated): Have you read the script Gordon?
Young Resident: Yes I have…but..
DanC (cutting in): Well it tells you what’s wrong with him right there!
Young Resident: But..
DanC (cutting in again): But what?! You read the fucking lines and pretend that you concur with Timothy’s diagnosis!
Young Resident: I am not comfortable with that Dan…I mean the consequences of a wrong diagnosis….
DanC (cutting in yet again): For Christ’s sake Gordon! This is a play! You are an actor pretending to be a doctor..what’s there to NOT understand…
(Nurse ABB standing in the wings smiles to herself and thinks: “well he’s had plenty experience of being a cunt acting like a dick”..)
π
G’day all, and welcome to the silly season! Anyone for Dem two! I must say that I do rate both Dempsey & Dembele quite highly, particularly Dembele – very tricky player & dribbler ala Seb Hleb!
Sad to hear about Robin Gibb, R.I.P, but very happy to hear that not all within are happy with Cuntski’s jammy-dodger, anti-football success over the Germans?! Hee! Hee! A cheeky Β£5million bid wouldn’t go amiss Arsene! π
@454,
Thanks my Impeccable friend; the nocturnal slumber has certainly helped as i have a rather useless tof-of-a-registrar who’s extremely slow with his suturing! Thankfully he’s not dangerous, so far! This’ll be a very long 6 months me-thinks! π
Windy @456,
Hee! Hee! π I’m not at all surprised by that matey and i’d bet that the F2 docs were from abroad from Poland or somewhere like that?! I now usually say, welcome to the EHS (European Health Service); staffed by rather more clinically aware junior docs from abroad (many who don’t speak very good English) and inexperienced, fast-tracked, homegrown middle-grades and seniors!
I hope you enjoyed your work-experience?! Was that at Epsom & St Helier? Are you interested in entering the “caring professions”? Hope your exams have gone, are going, well! Goodluck mate! π
CoR @460,
Hee! Hee! π
GT @ 461,
Hee! Hee! π
Catalan @465,
Hee! Hee! π Thanks lovey-Darling! π
Final act of “Much ado about nothing” just finished now expecting “All’s well that ends well”!
Ollie @469,
Unfortunately, no; penalties are counted which is why Alan Shearer still holds so many of the goal-scoring records in the EPL. Sounds like a good rule though – definitely should be bought in all over Europe!
Trev @470,
Heh! π
H2H @471,
What a lovely working-life you have! π
Not at the moment; must try to stay professional for few more hours ala John Terry! I’ll have some of the pink Duval for afters! π
8ball,
You’re brutal man! π
GT @474,
Hee! Hee! Hee! Hee! π
Cracking stuff mate and oh what a true insight into the life one leads! (He comments as he removes his cravat and throughs it (Muralitharan-like π ) onto the stage in Diva-esque frustration, yet again!!!)! π‘
“Why do you keep giving me these feckin’ amateurs to work with you male-member?” he shouts towards his producer whilst Nurse Abbs giggles like a hyena in the wings! I’m a feckin’ maestro, you cunt! π

Yeah, it stinks
I highly recommend the new Bob Marley documentary: http://www.vidbux.com/pa4gzm61jaxs
Anyone else having trouble loading this site? Had trouble at work, doesn’t seem much better at home.
In other news, I see the Revd has gone into multiple personalities mode on twatter. π
I’ve been having trouble too, Ollie.
Takes ages to refresh.
Ha, no just me then…for once π
Better just now it seems.
bt8b@473, agreed, RIP robin. i heard he died of saturday night fever…
Ollie: Been having trouble all day long too…
Evening all.
I’m training at work so not even able to make the lunchtime visit. Not aware of any problems Ollie, but the lack of activity suggests it may have been slow-loading earlier. Sorry.
And one thing I would ask of all. The Bee-Gees weren’t a favourite of mine, but a little more respect would be appreciated over the coming days. I’m not holding myself up as a paragon of virtue in that regard, but please consider there may well be people who visit here who were big fans, and who will be saddened by the news.
Thanks.
GT, can you remind me how it goes please.
Where’s your fourth place gone…
π
Oh lordy, it isn’t the Beegees is it? Tell me it ain’t so. Please.
Thanks for that Guvnor…My whole family are fans of the Bee Gees and Robin was a personal friend of mine going on 20-years now…so I was just biting my tongue and hoping good grace would click in..Thanks.
Oh god it’s a slow day,no arse news and to make matters worse couldn’t get in to this site all day, anyway seems good now any news??
Garsguns, some Polish rag claiming that Wet Spam want Flappy, but nothing else really.
I know H2h just over there and seen you in the comments!west ham fans eh..
If anyone remembers my rash promise to tell you my take on last Summer’s happening and is waiting for it, well you need wait no longer.
I regret that I can’t provide any great new insight but mine is a PoV that I hadn’t seen elsewhere until someone posted a link to HeBlogsWhenHeWantsTo (?) a week or two back. My feeling is simply that Arsène believed until the last minute that he could persuade that Spanish bloke to stay on, and he probably thought the same about the new Zidane. At the end of the day, he found he was wrong and they both left, one to follow his boyhood dream and the other not to follow money either.
My reaction to this type of thing is always to consider the alternative and to wonder how I would feel, and possibly more relevantly in this case, how the blogosphere would react had Arsenal said, this time last year, something like “OK, you want to go and play elsewhere, fine. We’ll take the fee, thank you.” I know I wouldn’t have liked it, and consider also the very real chance that one or other gave an interview that could be interpreted as “I would have liked to stay at Arsenal, but they didn’t seem to want me.” What chance that such a comment wouldn’t have been reported in massive type across eight columns? I’m pretty certain that I’d rather support a club whose manager believes he can hang onto the players he has recruited and/or brought through and fights as hard and long as he can to do so. Sure, I’d rather those fights were successful every time but even I don’t believe in that much good fortune.
And another thing… What was the result of Arsenal’s last-day transfer dealings? Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker, Andre Santos, Chu-Young Park. Three favourites and a (very) damp squib. What’s that, 70%? Not too shabby for a “panicky”, “last-minute” “trolley dash”. Supporters of most clubs would be delighted with transfer acquisitions that good, most Arsenal supporters would be too. Either we were incredibly lucky or there actually was some contingency planning, even if that doesn’t fit the approved narrative.
In all the abuse heaped on one player who moved to Manciti last summer I haven’t heard any mention of Gael Clichy, so, from me, Congratulations Gael, I’m sorry you didn’t win the league with Arsenal. Enjoy it for this year and enjoy eating our dust next season.
Garsguns.
Yeah, twats. Spend too much time blowing bubbles or whatnot.
Oxon.
AW can’t win no matter what he says, it’s sad but true.
According to your reason, it would be a 75% succes rate, but you also forgot Yossi.
Sorry for being pedantic, hAVE A DRINK ON ME.
H2H. Absolutely right about AW. And yes, I’d forgotten about Yossi. So that should have been four favourites and a damp squib. I was marking down by 5% because some <insert your noun of choice here> is bound to complain about those players failing to play in every match. Counting Yossi the (sorry again) and being conservative again, that’s 75%. Even less shabby.
Bum, forgot my drink. Thanks H2H, have one yourself, and another for me appearing to be ungrateful.
Site is better but still a bit on the slow side….
Rolls daisycutter pass towards right corner of penalty box…
Heads the ball on.

And he scores, good goal, H2H!
Played H2H.
You too can score with a couple of Oxon drinks under your belt.
My apologies re: my earlier bad attempts at humor about Robin Gibb, whose music I enjoyed quite a bit actually. I am very sorry at his passing, and sincerely hope not to have offended anyone.
Howdy ‘Holics –
I won’t be able to back drink for a while… work is a beast right now; so I apologize if I repeat what others have said.
I really do feel that Robin has decided that his future lies elsewhere. In my profession, it is very bad form to keep job offers hanging on the line. If you have multiple suitors, once you decide that Offer A is not your choice, you let that person know. You don’t hold on to Offer A, Offer B, and Offer C if you know Offer A is not competitive.
I think this is the situation in which we find ourselves. As much as it pains me to think anyone could take the example from a Che$ki player, but I would respect Robin even more, if he came right out and said “I want to leave.” And I am not begrudging him that point-of-view. Robin has to be responsible for his family’s financial future, and, if some club is willing to put him on 250k per week, he’d be derelict if he didn’t take it.
As Blogs wrote today, we are a selling club. Bottomline.
What I do not want to happen is 90 days of will he / won’t he. I also would rather not force him to play out the rest of his contract. Robin, please just declare your intentions so we can say thank you and goodbye.
BMBD
Thanx lads, had to wait ages ’til the page refreshed to see what had happened.
Guess you can call that a long shot. π
holic and gt (and anyone else i offended), my apologies. as did bt8b, i enjoyed his music and have nothing but respect for the man. my joke wasn’t to offend, but to try and be funny…and, clearly, it wasn’t. i’ll be more aware in the future that death affects everyone differently. gt, most especially, i am sorry for your loss.
LG@504 I haven’t read arseblog regularly for several months. If I want a depressing view of matters I can, honestly, do pretty well on my own. I’d much rather hang out over here with a few starry-eyed optimists who will help me in a desperate attempt to put a hopeful gloss on things.
I hope you enjoy the wait for firm and final news of RvP. I suspect I’ll enjoy it more than you.
Lonestar – agree if Robin wanted to stay the deal could and would have been put to bed quickly. Let’s avoid the fucking charades that we went through last Summer and get on with it.
One things for sure RVP will never match the season he has just had for us, if we can get a big fee let’s part with no hard feelings.
Good plan guys, and then we can spend the next five years moaning about how we didn’t do enough to try to hang onto Robin. Yeah, we’ll enjoy that.
Oxon, that is absolutely not what the bottom line of today’s arseblog is though.
It’s an extraordinarily pessimistic reading of something that I do not feel at all in today’s blog.
(re: your 507)
Oxon If he goes or stays I won’t be moaning for 5 years, you can if you want……
Ollie – fair play. I’ve taken the most pessimistic view possible of a blog that I haven’t read. That’s why I don’t read it. Show me a stick and I’ll grab the wrong end of it.
WU – I won’t either. I will,however, shed a tear or two. In private.
GT,
I’m very sorry for the loss of your friend mate. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Please give his family my sincerest condolences. I hope the pain doesn’t affect them and you for too long.
I just had a re-read of todays Arseblog and I see no evidence that he is refering to us as a selling club. I enjoy his daily musings and would in no shape or form label him a pessimist.
Everyones entitled to their own opinion though.
Oxon, Clichy did win the league with us. He played 12 games in the Invicibles season.
Lonestar and West Upper: while I can understand the logic behind thinking that Robin not yet having signed a new contract means he’s off, I don’t agree that we can read anything at all into it. He’s had one meeting with the club, for all we know the club might be working on typing up the first draft of the contract they are negotiating. People have also interpreted the silencio stampa as a sign that he’s off, but I would say it’s much more likely to be the other way around. If he had told Wenger and Gazidis that he was off, what would be the point of not telling anyone? And if he has decided to go, why would he care if Gazidis wants him to be quiet about it? He would want every club to know about it to trigger a bidding war for his services, so keeping quiet, if anything, would for me point more in the direction of negotiations being ongoing than anything else.
*****
Terry, for what it’s worth I offer my condolences.
Lars – Good point about Clichy. Please change my 495 above to read “…Iβm sorry you didnβt win the league with Arsenal again…”
Good points about Robin too. I suspect that those who believe he has made up his mind to stay will never agree with those who believe the opposite.
Those who don’t know will have to join both other groups while we all wait to hear what he’s decide.
…and with that final, missed “d”. I’m off to bed.
One drink all round please barkeep, then I suggest you all get your heads down too.
COYG
Evening holics. Just woke up and read the drinks. There have been a few times I wrote something here and regretted it later. So now is my chance to say I’m sorry to anyone I might have offended or made to feel uncomfortable either through my sense of humor or my well-intentioned compliments. You guys and gals sure mean a lot to me! Nite everyone and take care.
Have to say I’m in lars camp regarding Robin, hope you are right,no matter what we have to stop losing our better players season after season, keeping van would be a great moral boost for fans and players.
I don’t agree with most of what’s written here, but it’s certainly an interesting read.

Oxon Like you I hope Robin stays and will be sad if he goes.
However, we must avoid a repeat of the debacle of last Summer.

I am of the opinion that RVP is off. He will get a couple of great offers and we will take Β£24 million for him or thereabouts.
My point though is that the delays last close season had nothing to do with us – it had everything to do with Barca and Spain hanging us out to dry – that is purposely not completing deals until it was almost too late for us to do something about it.
We need to watch it this summer. I am of the opinion that were likely to sign no one if RVP had stayed. We just have too many players of promise to bring in others. to those that played a lot last season add Oxe, the Coq, frimpong, Diarby, Wilshire and the retuning loanees.
If Robin goes though this time we need to be ready to deal – and deal quickly and not be panicking last thing.
This time as fans we will probably be looking for more decisive action – if Robin wants to go then let him go quickly and move in the market.
Lars, DanC: There is no sadness here mate. He has been sick for a long time now. By all accounts he had a great last few months with close family & friends. Spoke with his trusted aide on Friday when she emailed me to say that he took a turn for the worst and she didn’t think he’d make it. They are planning a very small service of celebration of his life for family – there maybe a bigger service later so I will see whether I can make it to that one…
For those interested this was his favorite song: http://youtu.be/NhJn_fMCL7M
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say RvP’s staying. Just a hunch.
Snir @ 447. I have been saying that for the last 3/4 years now. Some on here slaughtered me for it. The vast majority of our problems seem to stem from a lack of depth. That will never change whilst we sell players in their prime and we fail to adequately replace them.
Let’s be honest, it ain’t rocket science is it?
KvC @ 524: I totally agree mate – sell quickly is what we need to do…
Snir: I hope that there’s something to M’Vila rumors..
Nurse, you have never offended anybody in your life π
All, please remember, never say sorry. Your friends don’t need it, and the other bastards don’t believe it.
Oh, and it’s new post time >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Lars:
“If he had told Wenger and Gazidis that he was off, what would be the point of not telling anyone? ”
Lars, its actually in RVP’s best interest to stay quiet, especially if he wants to leave and there are a number of reasons for that I think:
1. It takes 3 parties to come to an agreement, RVP, AFC and the buying club. By staying quiet – he will help that to happen as opposed to getting his agent to shoot his mouth off. The dogs in the street know he’s in his last year – and he still hasn’t signed a deal, so in that respect – there is no need for his agent to advertise the availability of his services.
2. He is the captain of the club – and the very least he can do is show a little respect for the club, its fans and the manager who have supported him, (unlike the classless fuckers like Cashely and Na$ri). Staying quiet shows respect. I seem to remember very clearly how Cesc said that he was under a curfew from the club not to speak to the media as well and he made it explicitly clear he wanted to go.
3. All players will get a % of a transfer fee as part of a loyalty bonus if they do not angle for a move away. So keeping his mouth shut, means even more money and as such, it in his interest.
4. By not staying quiet, he knows that the club could still keep him for a another year and maybe not play him as much, meaning he wouldn’t get the same deal again. So keeping Arsene on side would be a very wise move.
My own gut feeling is that RVP will be sold. I dont think there will be any further offers from the club. I think RVP knows that AFC would never match a package north of 200k a week. And while I appreciate that money isn’t necessarily everything when you get to that level – that still is a hell of a gap to bridge for any club, let alone one that aims to retain a model of self sustainability.
No I think he will go and it would be in the clubs best interests if that money went someway towards signing another centre forward on a 4 year deal for the future. Thats my tuppense-worth.
Steve – It’s not that we fail to adequately replace them, it’s that we fail to plug in adequate replacements for the replacements.
For instance we replaced Cole with Clichy, but didn’t replace Clichy with a good reserve LB.
If we do sell RvP, we’ll replace him with Poldi, which is a good enough replacement, but the reserve striker (which Poldi was supposed to be) won’t be adequately replaced.
We HAVE to keep him. No matter what.
M’Vila, Poldi, and two more signings and we are in business.
