Another Sell-Out As Coventry Return To Arsenal
Sep 25th, 2012 by 'holic
I’m looking out of my window as I type. The floodlights at the County Ground light up the surrounding area, as has the Capital One Cup for the team in the third tier of English football that plays there. The prospect of a third giant-killing of this fledgling season is exciting the locals. This is a stage of the competition for the minnows, yes?
Well, the evidence suggests the minnows and Arsenal. Once again we join the competition and supporters knowing full well they will see a blend of squad players and youngsters have still bought all the tickets for a contest against a lower division club. Obviously pricing plays a part, but who can fail to notice we can shift over 60,000 tickets for a League Cup third round tie while our neighbours can only shift 25,000 tickets for a European tie against Lazio. Big club, my Arse.
Coventry City remain in the memory as a decent day out a few years back, and of course will always be remembered fondly by older Gooners for their FA Cup Final win over the small club up the road in 1987. They will arrive with the hope that our second string will misfire, but in the Arsene Wenger era only Burnley from outside the top flight have ended our interest in a domestic cup competition. The Sky Blues, relegated from the Championship last season, are without a win in League One thus far. It promises to be a long and hard season for Mark Robins’ side.
So who will they be up against when they pay their first visit to Arsenal for twelve years? Damian Martinez is tipped for a first team debut in goal, although I would have thought James Shea’s involvement in the Champions League squad would have tipped the scales in his favour. The back four ahead of them could feature Nico Yennaris and Andre Santos as full-backs alongside two from Johan Djourou, Laurent Koscielny, Ignasi Miquel, or Sebastien Squillaci. I would question the value of considering the latter.
A midfield trio will probably come from Francis Coquelin, Craig Eastmond, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Thomas Eisfeld, although there is a possibility that Andre Arshavin might be considered for the creative role behind the strikers. If not he can still play on the left side of the attack with Theo Walcott on the right and either Olivier Giroud or Marouane Chamakh in the middle. Another non-start for Theo would tell a tale.
Finding value for the ‘holic pound is always tricky in such games. Regulars will know I am no great lover of the first goalscorer bet under normal circumstances but if the Ox is a starter he will be expected to get himself involved in attacking situations and may seize the opportunity to stake his claim for a place in the side to face Chelsea at the weekend. Failing that I’ll go for Arshavin at roughly the same odds and a bigger price than either of the options to lead the attack.
If you are going I hope the side give you a performance to enjoy. They usually do, to be fair. The rest of us, I fear, face a frustrating wait for an early hours of Thursday viewing on Arsenal Player. Have a good one, ‘holics, wherever you are following the match.

Shut up!!
Now to read and bask in the glory …. 😉
First?
BT8 from the last drinks, I believe you were looking at the previous week’s ‘team of the week’…..
He gunned for glory.
And then glory was his.
I know it’s the one linked from the main Football page on BBC, but the correct one is linked on the Premier LEague page.
Of course I now see that I would have had first if I had put only ‘First?’.
Heh
Cheap, bt8. Especially when your trickery after the ‘>>>>>’ on the previous page is the main reason for me not getting it 😉
Ollie. YOu are probably right, but if so couldn’t someone from the BBC update their website then??
I hate to divert attention from ‘holic’s new post with an immediately irreleveant first ten or so drinks. Ahem.
Should’ve been irrelevant. Now back to reading and not basking in my dominance of the top ten …
I know it’s been done to death, but Yennaris’ appearance on the Highbury pitch when we last (?) faced Coventry at home deserves a picture.

All true Holic. No mention of schimozzle or powder though ?
Taking my daughter tomorrow for her first game of the season. These nights are usually really good fun.
Here’s to Wittle Nico getting a goal tomorrow.
At least the little boy in Nico is all smiles and playing for The Arsenal!
Good pic Ollie. Not sure exactly what Tony Adams is doing though …….
‘holic pound fails to predict a score, only the Ox to score first? How about a prosaic 2-0?
Trev. Between that naughty smile and iffy hand positioning I think Tony may be up to no good …
As a matter of fact I think I would stake a wager on that.
Found this piece quite amusing…
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-accounts-could-reveal-arsene-1342840
Leeds 1-0 everton
And shitty only up on villa 1-0
Hey Snir,
Looks like the next rounds on Arsene. 😉
Didn’t Coventry take money from us for Jeff Blockley ?
That’s a good enough reason to give them a bloody good hiding tomorrow. 😉
‘holic you have non-football related spam 😉
It was always supposed to include a schimozzle, Holic. Was it not?
A nice wee Ouzo to warm the cockles?
Trev knows 😉
Heh Trev @20
That’s a block off the old chip.
…and I think we will need a schimozzle more against the bus stop in Fulham than Coventry.
Tonight I decided a Squillaci was amusement enough…
And that he is, Holic. That he is.
Hey Snir @17 –
Arsene has £50,000,000 to spend ?
He could pay off Lars’ tab. 😉
Hey Holic, what for you to drink tomorrow evening – a bottle of Sky Blue Nun perhaps ? 😉
Bath @24 –
Well you were most unlikely to get a chip off the old Blockley. 😉
I think you’re underestimating that tab, Trev 😉
Nice post Holic.
12 years since Coventry last came calling? Crikes, time flies.
I remember that ’87 Final well. Much against my better judgement, I met up early on the saturday morning with some work mates, (two of whom were LWCs), to sink a few ales and watch the game. Apart from the two unfortunates, the rest of us, Arsenal and West Ham fans, were obviously rooting for the underdog.
So confident was one of the LWCs of lifting the Cup that he was already planning his victory night out. As it all began to go horribly wrong, and the rest of us began to laugh hysterically, it all became too much for the poor fellow. At the final whistle, he burst into tears and threw a strop.
He was 26. What a cunt! With one notable exception (in my experience), they’re a bunch of wrong ‘uns down that end of the Seven Sisters. 😉
Anyway I digress. Reading elsewhere that Angha might get a run out at RB that would allow Yennaris to play in midfield. Also hearing that Eastmond is on his way to Colchester. No idea if this is reliable or just the usual tittle tattle.
Have a good night out Trev.
Not looking forward to the palpitations brought on by audio without the visual.
Re: Snir @17. At one point in that article he says all we want to do is get smashed. It sounds reasonable to me … so kudos for some excellent journalism!
Looks like the bus stop boys are having a field day with Wolves. Hope they have gotten that out of their system.
Cheers Tabs.
Not there tomorrow sadly. Too many other commitments mean its a no show. I expect nothing less than a convincing win and a good run out for a few.
Trev, enjoy. I know only too well how much fun it is taking the kids to these games.
Villa 2- 2 mancs
Leeds2-1 everton
And Swansea broke the hearts of Crawley town at the death.
Everton played a decent amount of 1st teamers.
And I hope the extra effort distracts the mancs and makes them doubt themselves just that little bit more.
Tomorrow 4-1.
Chamakh to score first
Swindon claim a third giant-killing. Would be a great draw in round four, if we get through of course…
West Ham thrashed 4-1 at home. It will be brilliant to see Fat Sam get the tin tack again.
Villa 3-2
Come on Aston feckin Villa.
Holic, Don’t envy AW. He’s a father figure to these youngsters and for those he doesn’t choose, it will be rough. Wish I could be there to cheer them all on. I’d play Smash Mouth’s ‘All Star’ so loud, that even the lads on the bench would smile and believe in their potential. Just like we do.
Hey its a Mickey Mouse tournament but it is still nice to see Fat Sam and The Mancs getting a kicking…..
Yep. Villains 4-2 up.
Evening again all.
Couldn’t be arsed to read the whole of the Beeb’s guff about Manciti/Villa but I got far enough to see that they’re playing Tevez and Ballotelli up front, which got me thinking…
Anyone else remember the quarter/semi? final against the dirty red mancs in the League Cup a few years back. There was all sorts of speculation in advance about whose reserves would be better. We started with Wiltord and Kanu (God and Son-of-God were rested) and proceeded to put it to the opposition big stylee(*). So, question answered you might think – our reserves were better than theirs. Oh, no – we got all sorts of flak for fielding too strong a team. Journos, eh? You gotta love ’em.
(*) Is this correct usage?
COYG ICDDR
Tabs @ 30 read that too (about Eastmond) also looks like Frimmy will be involved tomorrow.
IMHO best bet is Cov not to score. You can get evens on that….
I’ve got £50 on that. £50 that I had to work very long hours to inherit….
snir@17, must be a ‘holicbaaar regulaaar, there, he’s describing the reaction to lars’ wallet.
trev@27, that’d be a clean sheet, then?
tabs@30, is that to colchester on loan, or permanente?
about al-citeh and the fat sammers, couldn’t’a happened to a nicer bunch. wonder how much mancini will whine about needing in the january window… theo’s gang to flog him off? sorry, nonny 🙂
based on all the drinks so far this round, no one is predicting stream availability?
In today’s times a £9mil 23 year old forward in a top team like ours should have scored more than Theo has. I’d sell him if we could replace him with better.
On loan was what I read Scruz.
Still laughing at City, Fat Sam, and Moyes here.
Cent- would be great to see Frimpong involved. TS mentioned him earlier today. I thought he was still some way off but obviously not.
Cheers ‘Holic.
Good memories of Coventry indeed. They were a regular fixture back in the 70s & 80s. I’m quite sure they’l be raising their game tomorrow.
To sell-out on a game like tomorrow is true testament to our incredible support. I’ll be shouting myself hoarse and am indebted to top man Glennw who sourced me a ticket.
Could be a hatful of goals especially if the COC squad has the spirit and desire of the seniors.
COYRRRs!!!
Evening Holics
Did anyone miss me? Really no one? Ah well its just as well because I have been living in the lap of luxury for the past few days in Bluefields, Jamaica. I go back to dreary Kingston [in comparision to Bluefields that is] where I will face a house of sadness as my farther in law passed away while I have been away. My friends all want me to stay a few days more but Mrs GT and my my girls misses my cuddles – they are that good…
😎
Well for a change I have nothing to say about this game or the last. I have read all the drinks this afternoon. I agree with most, but I am still the first among us to tip this team as champions. Hope you’ll remember that when you are busy slapping each other on the back come the end of the season ..
🙂
Eastmond is indeed heading…er… east.
No Chuba tomorrow, he’s ‘wiv da England U19s innit’ 🙁
Sorry for your loss GT, and welcome back.
cheers, tabs.
why, gt, were you away?
ducking and running around the end of the bar, leaving behind in front of gt a lineup of red stripes alternating with some long, thick, white-paper-wrapped, burnable containers of northern california’s finest…
and, gt, i just *read* the entirety of your post…sorry to hear about your father in law.
*sigh*
I have just watched a full replay of the game against City at the w/end,and i am staggered at the complete incompetence of Gervinho.
His laughable attempt at ball control after Ramsey’s wonderful through ball early in the game, would have embarrassed a Sunday morning Pub competition striker after a big Saturday night on the sauce, let alone a sober one.!!
His continued ineptitude during the game when playing out wide on the left, only reminded me of the want away schoolboy who is a serial offender on the other wing.
As for his appalling effort on goal in the 90th minute, which would have won us the game, well my blind, one legged, one armed,DEAD
Grandmother, could have at least got the ball on target.!!
Gervinho was a serial offender last season in missing countless easy opportunites to score, and a couple of goals this season hasn’t altered my opinion that he panics in pressure situations.
All the top players have that inner calmness and certainty about them when chances come their way,and 99% of the time they deliver in spades.
Gervinho is the opposite, his conversion rate of chances is probbaly 1%.
Wenger’s and Bould’s faces said it all after both incidents, they would have fucking throttled him if they had been near enough.
Rambo’s face after the miss in the last minute said it all.
All that fucking hard work we have put in for 90 minutes and the prick puts the ball in the 20th row of the stands.
Rambo’s expression reminded me of Fabregas’s face after Eboue committed that stupid foul in the Liverpool game the season before last, after we had taken the lead in time added on,Eboue pushes over a Liverpool player facing away from the fucking goal.!!
Fab’s face spoke a thousand words.
If Gervihno ever gets picked for a big game again, even on the sub’s bench, i will be absolutely amazed.
I think that City game has cooked his goose.
Cheers
a very cranky Sweeper.
Gooner Terry, Please accept my condolences to you and your family. I missed you very much, mate. You’ve always been a friend to me and cheered me up, many a time, just by you being you.
Another excellent post.
You must put a lot of effort into your articles pal. Great stuff.
And great stuff from the Villa haha
As for tomorrow, Walcott must surely start or he is gone. Squillaci is probably best left on the bench. (please)
Is it just me, or does this feel like the first season in years we have an almost complete second string of some quality? With Jack and Sagna back soon, and Rosicky…
A top goalie would be nice.
Bloody hell Clive, I take it you don’t like him then mate? 🙂
My condolences GT. Good to have you back, you reply to what I say in here most of the time… *looking at the rest of you lot bar abb in general* 8)
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/-frimpong-has-never-been-as-fit-as-he-is-now-
It appears my prophesy from the previous drinks has come true. Every dog has his day and all that.
‘Cov to get deeenched, innit’
Nice rant Sweeper but my guess he’s a little way yet from being Eboued out the door.
Well said Wind 😉
Sweeper,
I will agree with you on Gerv except that he will continue to be played. He is a horrible finisher but I think he will continue to be featured. He somehow gets in great positions but then totally fecks it up.
The only thing I will add is Poldi missed a grand opportunity in the first half. He really could have done better.
I propose that the remainder of this day is dedicated to our youngest gust….
….step forward (the) Wind (of change)
Condolences GT
Tabs
Forgot to congratulate you for being born in the same hospital as me.!!
TS,i only used Eboue as a comparison, based on incompetence.
I just don’t think Scurvy should be on the teamsheet for any of the big games.
I will be staggered if he is in the first 11 for the Chelsea game..
NorCal,re Podolski, the chance was on his weaker foot and slightly behind him,but also his first ‘ miss ‘ if you want to be picky, from the chances he has had, proving my point about top strikers having
around a 99% conversion rate.
cheers
a still cranky Sweeper.
PS Villa just proved my point tonight,City fielded a near first team, and Villa had 4 chances and took them all.
We had 3 and took 1.
Sweeper 🙂
Clive,
I will counter that the ball is always on Gervinho’s weaker foot. 😉
… and it was a fair comparison Clive. Those missed chances are the difference between winning a championship and not.
Thinking of you, Tel. All the best to the family.
We certainly missed you GT. best wishes to your family.
Blimey Sweeper, you must be one angry chap.
I remember your comment a few days ago saying you would not pick on individuals as it’s a team game.
You’re not an MP by any chance, are you ?
For the record, as you’ve broken the ice, I completely agree about Gervinho. At one point, Cazorla hit a 70 yard diagonal ball right onto his foot. Gervinho turned, ran towards the touch line and fell over !
They didn’t show Cazorla’s face. Pity – we could have lip read the Spanish for &£);)&@)(. Hell !
I will also say that city may have played a ” near first team” but it was not their first team. They made 10 changes from Sunday. I would say we played their first team.
No excuses. Villa beat what was in front of them but I don’t think it was as stacked a team as we played.
That’s all from me about those…..
Is the game tomorrow on TV?
Snir @ 73 — not on live TV in US and not on Fox Soccer online.
A completely unrelated question to stateside goners: those of you who have membership or subscribe to the Arsenal magazine did you receive your September copy yet? I haven’t and my email query hasn’t been replied to.
@10: Holics, you’ve all focused on Yennaris and TA but missed another important thing in that photograph.
That is, Mike Dean in all his immortal splendour. The new Daywalker? Or should we just call him a Dunpeal?
*CoR moves to pick up his cross and bag of garlic. Then orders a sharp-tasting steak.*
Is the game live on Arsenal Player or can it only be see after the game has ended?
@17: Snir, I don’t know about Matt Law, but when I’m out drinking everyman pays for themself. I usually drink alone though so it’s never any trouble!
@50: GoonerTerry, accept my condolences. I hope everything goes well for your family in this time of grief.
@55: Sweeper, come off the fence and tell us how you really feel, will you? 😉
I still think this will be The Year of Gervinho. Hopefully he can stay off the pre-match coffee and tap the balls in the net. Right now, he seems too Happy Gilmore in front of goal
Gedo, only after the game, live radio only.
BTW, Ryo played the entire ninety minutes of Wigan’s 4-1 win and going by the live text report had contributed significantly.
Martinez has been playing Ryo only as a very late substitute in the PL matches. Hopefully it would change and he would get more match practice. He has bulked up, and once he gets those step-overs more under control and the final ball improves just a little bit, with his pace, dribbling and work-rate he would be a great prospect. If Theo is to leave in January, Ryo could have nicely fit in, but the loan I think is season-long.
Thanks Doctor. Maybe I’ll be able to see it without knowing the result but I think that will be hard to do. Really like seeing the youngsters strut their stuff. COYR!!!
Condolences to you and yours GT.
I think Giroud will start and score against Coventry.
Welcome back GT, and I’m sorry about the father in law’s passing.
Clive. Is there any such thing as a constructive wrath? I hope so for your and Gervinho’s sake! Just finished The Redbreast today, and it was a great read.
GT. Not sure if the Happy Train has a trip to Bluefields planned yet but I’d like to book my ticket just in case. 🙂
Condolences, GT. I hope things are as well as they can be in the circumstances.
Gervais had a stinker against Citeh, no question, Clive. He is like Theo in some respects. Glimpses of greatness but horribly inconsistent. He is also a bit Luther Blisset like in front of goal. But he has the rare ability to get in behind defences.
Too soon to start knocking it towards goal?
http://www.emirates247.com/sports/football/arsenal-s-nani-to-get-chance-for-fresh-start-2012-09-26-1.477010
I’m new here so take it easy…
But i will stand up a little for Gervinho. His finishing was dreadful given, but that he managed to get himself into so many good situations shouldn’t be overlooked… He terrorized the City defense even if his final touch was soaking it up in the Abidjan sunshine somewhere…of course he let us down, but I wouldn’t be a Gooner if I didn’t believe in second chances right? So let’s give him credit, receding hairline and all for what he did well (everything but finishing) and hope for better in future…i think he can be a very effective player for us this year, a year when we need all the goal scoring we can find…
Enjoy the blog Mr Holic. I will continue to follow it…
Morning Trev
I don’t resile from my stance of not criticising individual players in a team environment, but i do reserve the right to vent my spleen on the rare occasion that it happens.
The only other player i have given full bore to,is the perennial schoolboy who like Scurvy Gervy is a serial offender.
City were there for the taking on Sunday,Wenger and Bouldy know it,and the players know it,you just cannot go on missing simple goal scoring opportunities in those big games.
Apart from Santi Claus’s effort which Hart tipped over the bar,he never really had to make another ‘ real ‘ save in the whole game.
So those 2 golden opportunities were as precious as a Virgin’s honor
in a town with a ratio of 10 boys for every girl. !!
8 Ball, glad you enjoyed Redbreast, now go and buy Nemesis, the next in the series,it is superb.
NBN,i think you would change your mind on Gervy getting behind defences mate,if you saw the full replay of the City game.
He was completely hopeless in that regard,Zabaletta had him in his pocket all afternoon.
Cheers
The Sweeper
Apparently AA to get a homestart in the hole where he’s best placed to breakdown defences and get his tow on the end of tings … Yeehaaaaaa!
ComOnURedS!
tabs @ 61 & True Storey @ 63, thanks mate 🙂
The Sweeper, I’m in awe of your analytical hellfire & brimstone cross-scrutiny of Gervinho, I think the fans unbounded frustration comes from the sudden burst of hope that he’ll do the business (he’s raised this hope with 3 goals in 3 games) but then he goes and shanks the shot, or drives the ball when the putter is needed *foreheadpalm* or fails to control it in any way, shape or form at all. 😐
Condolences GT.
Still can’t disagree Sweeper.
Good to see you back so regularly too.
AL –
if I didn’t recognise the style you imitate, I’d swear you were Tad Bonkers. That has to be a Monday night fixture now.
Wind – “unbounded frustration”
You may just have created a new oxymoron there, young bean !
And in best “just a minute” tradition, I do believe that “in any way, shape or form at all” has to be repetition. 😉
Morning Zico – sneaking a quick hair of the dog, in the corner.
You, not me. 😉
Catalan –
Day off for me, but not much sign of you lately.
Hope everything is ok? Missing your gently sardonic snippets. 😉
Trev
Beloved Mum has stabilized on level 3 on a sliding scale of 10 to zero.
So for a brief moment in time my fear of losing her imminently, has receded slightly.
So i return to the bar to take my mind off the inevitable.
Thnks Wind,
I am sure you will be pleased to know that i ‘ pass ‘ your Moniker with gleeful abandon after a large plate of beans on toast.!!
Reverting back to the City game on Sunday, i’m sure i wasn’t the only one to note the surly duo, Telli & Tev,moping on the City bench during the game.
If ever a picture showed a stark reality of life at City that was it.
The look Telli gave Mancini when he was told to warm up with only a few minutes to play was priceless.
And to cap it all off the miserable duo had to play up front last night in the CCLC,[ The Couldn’t Care Less Cup].!!
There’s Trouble ‘at Mill up North this season.
Cheers
The Sweeper.
If the lads don’t win this I refuse to talk to them. I’ll send the whole lot to, er, Coventry.
Thank you all, and my comedy stylings will be available until lunchtime.
Clive,
Not a great situation with the mums is it. Mine’s about the same. All the best to you and yours.
Equally telling as the players miserable faces on the Shitty bench, is the manager’s demeanour.
Snapping at reporters, having a go at other managers and his own players, and the unintelligible drawl after our game on Sunday, which all amounted to “I don’t know”.
I would say that their fall from grace will be most enjoyable.
But there never was any grace. 😉
Spots the Sweeper’s run into the opposition half and plays the ball out wide ……..
Good morning everyone. Trev, I’m glad you bring up our friend Catalan. The problem at the Bar is that we don’t know what is going on in the personal life of any holic. When one of our own goes ‘missing’, we tend to give them some space. Personally, I’m not sure which words to use, to encourage that person to come back. Fearful of saying the wrong thing. Anyway, I’d like to welcome goonsterham lincoln with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and a big smile. So appreciate your take on my buddy, Gervinho. And to Wind, you’re such a gent (mean that lad).
Late run
Bingo bango!
Very sorry to hear about your Mum Clive. All the Best mate.
Police are hunting a man suspected of stealing Gates.
They’ve said not too approach him in case he takes offence…
Morning All!
Never mind bingo bongo, here’s the squad for tonight’s COC Match:
11 Andre Santos
12 Olivier Giroud
14 Theo Walcott
15 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
18 Sebastien Squillaci
20 Johan Djourou
22 Francis Coquelin
23 Andrey Arshavin
26 Emmanuel Frimpong
29 Marouane Chamakh
36 Damian Martinez
38 Martin Angha
40 Hector Bellerin
46 Thomas Eisfeld
47 Serge Gnabry
54 Ignasi Miquel
60 James Shea
64 Nico Yennaris
Excellent opportunity for the bright young talent to shine alongside ‘old war horses’ like Arshavin & Santos.
Giroud to get his first Arse goal(s)???
If Eisfeld plays. the Storey pound says he’ll sneak in with a poachers goal.
COYRRRs!!!
Trev/Sweeper,
I’m happy to play devil’s advocate on Gervinho. I’m pretty much in Canons’ camp on this one.
I haven’t had the benefit of the Sweeper’s second viewing of the game, so I bow to his opinion, but I have to say that my feeling at the time was that Gervinho had a great first half. His movement was good, and he did get behind City twice albeit that he then fluffed his lines in a big way. Granted his influence faded in the second, and I said at the time that he should have made way instead of Poldolski. That said, he did then carve out a chance in the last minute, and whilst his finish was appalling, it is easy to forget the good work that preceded it. I don’t think it’s a fair reflection of the whole game to say that Gervinho was in Zabaletta’s pocket.
I know that Gervinho is a player that will frustrate many. I however still see something in him. I think people forget how difficult the transition to the EPL is. There aren’t many who are instantly at home and on balance there was enough last season to suggest he might be a hit.
I thought his contribution last season to January was good. His final ball and his finishing can obviously be improved, but his movement is excellent and he can beat a player for fun. After returning from the African Cup, his influence faded with his confidence, and Ox and Benny were used instead of him.
This season is clearly a big one for him, and he had his best game in an Arsenal shirt vs Soton only a week before the City game. I think it’s way too early to be writing him off.
Clive, I’ll bet you an orange juice (freshly squeezed) he starts against Chelsea. 😉
TS – Cheers for the squad. Looks like the team won’t be a million miles away from those we were picking yesterday. Good shouts from you on both Frimpong and Giroud.
Well in Wasp and great celebration in the glory position! 🙂
AL @89 🙂
Trev @ 92, A new Oxymoron eh 😀
And I’ll take the ‘just a minute’ correction :p
The Sweeper @ 95, 😆 Pleased indeed.
abb @ 99, many heartfelt thanks 🙂 Lovely assist as well for The Wasp to pop in for the Century.
Trev and Clive, sorry to hear about your respective mothers, all my best to them and the both of you.
Arghhhhhhh, Squillaci, noooooooooo. 🙁
Cheers Wind.
Tabs,
to me Gervinho promises much but doesn’t have the physical strength to finish whatever he starts, but, take your points and hope that you are proved right.
What!!!
News reaches me that Arteta’s hair has not always been perfect.
This is very dispiriting.
http://www.evertonfc.com/assets/_files/images/oct_06/efc__1161605659_rangers2.jpg
Andy Goram @108 –
Well, this is a knockout competition. Which one of our other defenders do you think he will knock out tonight ? 😉
Yep time will tell Trev.
Don’t believe I’m going to be forced to listen to Arsenal Player as Live for the 1st time this season. At least that cunt Stewart Robson has fucked off (been given the sack).
Wish I was going but it takes me an hour if I’m lucky to get home on a weekday and that’s if there’s no extra time 🙁
Wolfgang,
The face in that photo looks more like Ronaldo – reaches for spitoon.
Looking forward to the game tonight. Our atmosphere is always very unique and special in this competition. Well worth the £10 they ask of us.
I think our boys will win 5-1. That equates to £1.67 per goal, although it wouldn’t quite surpass the £0.83 per goal against Sheffield Utd a few years back (I think it cost a fiver).
tabs 105, I see it thus too.
‘Miquel will play’, and Djourou having been the one on the bench so far, I don’t think Squillaci will move from the bench tonight, barring late injuries.
Mind you, it’s always good to give these youngsters a whiff of the big game from the bench. Oh.
Mr Trev @114,
You are right. I had to look twice myself. Quite a shock I can tell you.
Thankfully, our spanish maestro has sorted his luxuriant curls sufficiently so that there will be no further examples of mistaken identity with the turdetanian hedge-pig.
Morning Ollie, heh at Squillachi.
Possible alternative is that he plays with Miquel at LB and Santos further forward?
Ahem, bugger off Wolfie.
Mixed Metaphor Of The Day
“We couldn’t defend a fish supper” – Sam Allardyce clearly demands high standards when shielding fried foodstuffs.
Didn’t think of that one at 118.
Doomed.
(although I think it’s unlikely, with the rest of the squad being what it is)
Heh
Clive and Trev please accept my condolence.
Tabs am with you on Gervinho.
I think if any or both of Chamakh and Squilacci doesnt start this evening that signals that Arsene has no plans of using them in the first team.
My best guess of the team tonight will be; Martinez,Angha,Djourou,Squilacci,Santos,Coquelin,Yennaris,The Ox,Arshavin,Theo and Chamakh.
On balance, I agree with you Ollie. I don’t think Squillachi will start, primarily because I don’t think there’s room for Santos further forward with Theo, Ox and Arshavin all likely to start.
Heh at Allardyce. I would have thought that the one thing he would defend with his life would be a fish supper!
CENT!
Squillaci, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo 🙁
For what it’s worth, I am with that Andy.
Afternoon chums and chummesses 😉
Afternoon Holic, had a good day so far? 🙂
Fish supper? I wish.
Taking the management to consult with Sawbones senior tonight, so as there are no streams of our game available we’re going to play dirty stopouts and have a nice plate of something at a country battle cruiser.
I will therefore attempt to cobble together a match review without having seen or heard any of it. Shouldn’t affect the quality in any way though. (I’ll say it before you do!)
Have a good one, all. Nose back in contact with grindstone…
Trev
Mum’s the word.
Tabs,OJ it is,freshly squeezed of course.
Wind, you are ar too young to be using the C word, please desist.
I am meeting up with the lovely Cicilia shortly for some hand to hand combat,i will be absent for a while.
Cheers
The Sweeper.
Heh Holic, I shall look forward to that report! :0
Clive’s going in! Good luck mate.
I was walking down the street this morning and this idiot through some cheese at me.
“That’s mature” I said.
Wasp @131 and @103 🙂
I went for a run but came back home after 5 minutes because I forgot something.
I forgot that I’m fat and can’t run for more than 5 minutes.
Tabs
For the avoidance of doubt – @103 and @131 are not my own work.
They were told at a Memorial Service for a young Ulster Rugby player who died tragically alongside his brother and father over a week ago. They were his favourite jokes and brought a shaft of light to an otherwise sombre occasion.
RIP Nevin Spence
(I know this is a Gooner forum, but as a long time reader I know all the contributors in here are thoroughly decent folks who love their club. Just like Nevin…)
Fair play to you Wasp. The death of Nevin and his brother and father was absolutely awful.
Andy@125 and Holic@126 am not saying i want him to start am just trying to guess the team, left to me he would be so far gone from England by now.
Cor@133 that made me giggle,mate.
Jogging is not good for you Canons.
It is a blight on society that must be monitored at all times. I realise that I am now particularly vulnerable to its malevolent grasp, given that I have forsaken the cigarettes.
Vigilance must be maintained at all times.
Just read excerpts of The Skipper’s programme notes for today,he is talking about Jenkinson and Ramsey but somehow he manages to use the words “we” “our” “team” and “squad” more than double the number of times he used the words “i” “they” “he” and “them”.
Cent….there’s no “I” in team 😉
Wasp….congrats on the 100. Yr 131… Did you catch it Caerphilly?
The loss of the Spene family was a terrible tragedy..RIP
Clive / Trev….best wishes for the health of your respective mums.
Mancini seems to be spot on in this self-prescription:
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/fa-league-cups/some-managers-had-better-shut-up-warns-irritable-roberto-mancini-after-aston-villa-expose-manchester-city-defence-yet-again-8176131.html
Days like these are the only days I miss the defunct Arsenal tv channel, which used to show out league cup matches. It’s high time it was relaunched. If the Scousers can keep theirs going, we should be able to. ESPN will be looking for something to bundle with their crappy American sports, when they lose all the rugby and league football next year, so why not float the idea of a bundled channel to them?
I’d buy it
If it was free 😉
Ollie @ 120 – Maybe the fat slob was talking about his players inability to stop him scoffing all their pre-match grub? The batter gobbling bastard.
Wait. Santos is in the team? Maybe I should change that pre-match prediction to Arsenal 5 Coventry 4. 😉
“batter gobbling bastard” Heh 🙂
What was that about a fish supper? Oh well I must have missed it so have to supply my own audiovisuals …
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=657OTvv79kY
Although that Rev. Murphy bears a canny resemblance to Fat Sam, if you don’t look closely enough. 😉
Is anyone else of the opinion that our defensive improvement is thanks more to Alex Song’s departure than Steve Bould’s promotion?
Uncle Charlie
I think it’s more a combination of things;
– Steve Bould’s coaching
– Song gone
– Per’s form
– The improvement of Corporal Jenks and Gibbsy
– Podolski tracking back
– Arteta’s discipline
Afternoon All Holics, Mr. Sweeper and Trev, Your mums are in my thoughts and prayers as is Lar’s cousin. And of course GT. I’m out the door shortly but had to say thanks to Tabs for his take on Gervinho. I did watch the game again. He worked his socks off. He himself is acutely aware of his failings. Fingers firmly crossed. And Ollie, pleased you see it that way. Now this is for my sister Fun. Sorry if I caused you any confusion yesterday. Holic, hope everything goes well for you and The Management. Until later folks, life is precious, so make it count.
heh Nonny 142 🙂
Cheeky half ala Trev 😉
Curses Ollie! I refreshed and the coast was clear! 😛
@148: Don’t forget to add our Obsidian bands of power to that list!
Wasp @148. That is an excellent list of factors, and although you may not have put it in any particular order, I certainly wouldn’t have placed Arteta’s discipline last.
Cannons. Obsidian bands of power? How could anyone forget??
Hand to hand combat with Cecilia….
Heh, Clive is well and truly back. 😀
Team for tonight doing the rounds is…
Martinez, Angha, Djourou, Miguel, Santos, Ox, Coq, Yennaris, Arshavin, Walcott, Giroud.
That was copied and pasted.
Miguel=Miquel 😉
Surely spells the end for Squillachi and Chamakh.
heh tabs @158 🙂
I think Squillaci’s end was pretty clear already.
If Chamakh is on the bench, maybe he’ll get the odd chance, but you know, he wasn’t even on the bench for the last few games (neither was Arsh, but there was no article on .con about how much Marouane loves football….)
Yep, agree with all of that Ollie.
The pair of em prefer their pay packet to playing.
Fair enough I suppose, but difficult to see Chamakh figuring beyond the odd 5 mins when we’re chasing a goal.
@uply am just happy he seems to have understood that well enough it seems natural to him.
Tabs knows @157,159 and 162.
Just to be clear,i will still tip Giroud to be a success with us no matter how he performs this night.
Evening all. Interesting team. Hope Giroud can reduce the preposterous pressure by bumping one in off his arse tonight.
FWIW, I am with tabs @105 on Gervinho and Cent @ 163 on Giroud. Both will be major assets.
Cent/Bath
Another one here for the pro Giroud camp.
The rush to judgement is bonkers.
Are we doing an Ox Coq then?
Speaking of articles on .con I think they told Djourou who is going to feature prominently in tonight’s game:
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/djourou-gnabry-has-a-big-future-in-the-game
I know most of you are not Jewish, but I would like to apologize to anybody I hurt or offended here.
Sorry.
Snir. Don’t try any of your atoning on me. 😉
BTW, Good yontiff, or whatever it is you fellas say. 🙂
I actually had to google that, as it’s in Yiddish, and my family originated from Libya (paternal side) and Tunisia (maternal side), so no Yiddish for us 😀
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wImzI-99m2w&feature=player_embedded
70th minute – Arsenal vs. Barcelona in Women’s football.
We’re leading 3-0.
is there a stream tonight anyone?
Nowhere to be seen cognac, your best bet is the Arsenal Player Live Audio Commentary, what I’m doing right now 🙂
ta wind
Snir. There must be a joke in there about what you get if you cross a Lybian with a Tunisian, but I’ll refrain in the fear I would have to engage in some atonement. 😉
anyone else having problems with the arsenal player? it shows 45 minutes to game time?
bah…I have arsenal player audio stream on ..but cant hear anything ..the hell?O.o
I just had my first beer in about five months, got up to fetch the laptop and nearly fell into the telly. Lightweight.
I was having the same issue Eandy. But it just came on.
never mind, the medium stream is working, not the hd.
Had the same issue Eandy and others, people on Twitter having the same problem as well 😕 Working now thankfully.
Had problems logging in, volume poor. Hey all.
sounds like coventry is having a good go. theo just miskicked when in, attributed to “rust”. if only rust slept, but it never does…
Hey abb 🙂
Hello there youngin 🙂
hi, abb, and everyone.
done some quick backdrinking, trev and sweeper, sorry about the mums. mine was in the hospital a few weeks back, unknown cause but determined to be dehydration. touch and go for a few days, all’s well now, thankfully. hope you can get some joy with whatever time you have.
come on, ya goons!
Hey scruz, glad your mum is well on the mend. Remind her to drink, well you know what I mean (smiles).
lol, abb she has been drinking like a fish ever since. she’s even added water to her repetoire. 🙂
Come on Arsenal!!!
I wish they would stick with play by play and forget the chatter.
heh Scruz 🙂
People, please keep us updated for those that are listening, it really sucks that the game is not on telly! Something that started last season upto when we played mancity, can sombody explain it to me why this is the case bacause I remember watching all curling cup games without a fuss before last year.
sounds like a nice passage of play, just not taken down by walcott from arsha. these two announcers are far, far better than robson. not a criticism of le arse in hearing.
cheers, wind…:)
sounds like city is putting in a shift, arsenal not getting quite there, a corner comes to naught. again, theo with the slight mishit, but he’s getting into the right positions.
martinez with a nice catch on a cross after a spell of city pressure.
Well it seems like Walcott is playing like he doesn’t give a crap, miscontrol in abundance. Good running from him though to keep a ball in play.
crosses heading into giroud, but going to keeper or over his head.
Across the face of goal…
Unfortunate it is a radio only game. Check out Angha’s hair. That is, the way it looks when it is not moving.
http://www.arsenal.com/reserves-youth/players/martin-angha
And in! 🙂
Anything yet?
get in wind, it’s the w show for the tons.
angha apparently has some troll in him: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f146/honeygirl25/DSCN0379.jpg
nothing, firstlady. some nearlies, but arsenal largely in control against some counters by city.
Wind scores!
Sadly, it wasn’t in synch with an Arsenal goal.
first save from the city keeper…
Thanks Scruz for the assist 😉
Gilles Sunu scores.
For Lorient.
YES!thanks for the updates and keep em coming
Thanks Ollie 🙂
Listening in?
Scruz @ 204, 😆
giroud “showing his pace”. interesting.
sounds like we’re getting closer…
no worries, wind. glad you got one in. welcome back!
9000 city supporters singing a song, sounds like.
GIROOOUD!
For a moment there I thought we had scored. Thanks alot wind for misleading me 🙁
Giroud goal!!!!
giroud!!! gets his first goal, lifted it over the keeper…1-0 arsenal.
Giroud!
let dams be opened from now on!
“an excellent finish”, “that will do his confidence good”…
Get in Ollie G!
amen, candy 🙂
Cheers Firstlady, you’ve got your goal 🙂
arsenal breaking in waves, again and again.
pfft scruz 😛 I am too pleased for our handsome devil to be annoyed by dragqueening of my name:P
Mavericks type waves scruz
oliver girood girooooood !!!!!!
🙁 Looks like I was too quick to complain!!now that he’s broken the duck he will score plenty.I am so happy for him and obviously Arsenal
Can’t wait to see his goal.
martinez
angha djourou miquel santos
nico coq ox
theo giroud arsha
for those who didn’t know.
definitely, pears. though i think i’d even take the 7-10 footers we’re having here in town today…
Only heard the goal now, think I might have to switch to low stream quality and destroy my router after the game.
lol, eandy to dq your name it’d have to be randy candy… 🙂
hehehe fair enough 😀 Giroud to score brace against Chelski! *bets*
3 photos of the game up here so far:
http://www.sportinglife.com/football/live/match-commentary/274383/arsenal-v-coventry-city#!/photo/0
into first half extra time.
scum are up, mancs scum are on 0-0, newcastle need a goal ba-aaad.
I hear that Ollie scored.
Hmm. Yeah maybe save the Mavericks for Chelski
pears, i’ll take that right now!
Can hear the
Nah
nah
nah
nah nah nah nah naaah
Gi-roud
from the crowd as they walk off at halftime.
Thanks Abb,I hope another one is coming and soon, something to keep me awake as I am so sleepy but I refuse to sleep until I hear of the final result.
Ollie. You should know. I think…
On a beer run, anyone need anything 🙂
Hey Firstlady, rub ice on your wrists, works for me! (smiling).
243 bring me some white wine,
Olivier Giroud it was you – ew-ew-ewwwww – etc.
Olivier Giroud make it two – ew-ew-ewwww – etc.
URedS! (I think.)
Abb these is no way I am touching ice at this time of the night but thanks 🙂 i will just have to find other ways to stay awake until the game is over.
Hehehe funny that someone mailed in to guys to not pronounce D in Girouds name, that its bloody annoying:D
Eandy the D is silent
Penalty!
arsenal penalty!
Pelanty
Anything interesting in 2nd half? Abb that beer run is taking long please hurry before I dehydrate.
penno! arshavin taken down.
giroud to take the penno, let’s see him get his brace.
annnnd, some “supporters” on the pitch. c’mon, guys.
I know Firstlady 😛 just found it funny that someone pointed it out directly to commentators:)
PK, Giroud scores after fans cleared off the pich, sounds like a real hoot! Wish I was there, sounds like fun!!!
get in! 2-0
Giroud at the double!
O noes!:(
NOOOO! saved.
Not, it was saved.
Has it gone in yet?
Giroud’s pen gets saved, blame the pitch invaders 🙂
Fail!
Sounds like it was a proper saved penalty and not a bad one. So keeper was good, Giroud not that bad.
Who jinxed him?
shame though …would give us some breathing space and bolstered OGs confidence even more
Firstlady, apparently there was mayhem on the pitch, fans running about, chased by our players (?)…
Looks like the manure virus of missing penalties has spread!!who took it?
It makes me sick that I cannot watch this live.
By the looks of it everyone Ollie
Hey Ollie! Wind, hope you’re getting all this action!
Ox!!
Oxlade! 2-0!
Ox!
goal, ox! 25 yards out…
with the screamer apparently too!
OAC This is for real!!!
Ooh well! I am sure we will create other chances which will go in. I blame the fans that got into the pitch. They jinxed it!
I mean AOC !!!
2-0! The Ox!
So glad Spurs are 2-0 up. So looking forward to kicking them out of the competition yet again a few rounds in.
Shoulda been the first Ox 😉
Sadly though, Man U are now 2-0 up as well. Them I would prefer going out on their own.
hehehe, any time I complain about a missed chance we end up scoring.I should keep this up!I hear it is a sumptuous one from the Ox
toby, i’d take knocking out either scum or mancs scum by ourselves. such pleasure.
Arshavin won the penalty so he should have taken it. That’s what jinxed us, Ollie. 🙁
Heh, well scruz, I’m easily persuaded. Fair enough. Bring it on.
Oh and 3-0. Shava.
‘holic, there’s plenty of tickets left for Saturday.
I was nearly tempted by a block 15 row 1…..
arshavin! 3-0, you go!
Goal by AA, Giroud assist!!!
Andreeei:)
Andrey!
Another assist for Giroud. During all the fuss about him not scoring the doom mongers (no one in this bar) were ignoring his brilliant knock down and hold up play and sublime assist to Poldi in the Monaco game.
Toby 285 I can tell from the noise in my flat.Decided to give their game a miss since it is live on TV but anytime there is a goal there celebratory noises coming from upstairs,so annoying!!!
corner to arsenal after some good work from theo.
FunGunner wish you were here! FirstLady bringing us luck!
boom?
Very happy for Arshavin, wish I could of been there to see him score 🙂
Monaco, PoP? :s
good save of giroud header by city keeper, city break, blazed over the bar.
God, am I in an american movie? Why is there white text saying “COME ON YOU REDS!” jumping up and down on my screen when listening to the Arsenal TV-stream? Now this is cheesy.
Poetic justice, that Arshavin goal? Being Russian poetry, that means great tragedy and romance, of course.
Opportunistic, scruz, well played.
It was only after a short back drink that I noticed the counter was 299.
Sorry Ollie! Montpellier. No offense intended and no I don’t think all French towns are the same!
heh Toby, I noticed they brought back the ‘Come On You Reds!’ on Jumbotrons, sorry, Big Screens, when we have a corner.
cheers, ollie. i thought i got 299, but it was abb. so i thought i’d have a go. feeling like your namesake, an assist and a goal this round.
Technically, Monaco isn’t in France 😉
toby, btw, i’m of the belief we should beat what’s in front of us, so if it’s norwich or swindon for the final, i’m good with that too 🙂
Toby, Balloons come and go on my screen at the bar.
Ollie, Isn’t Monaco in France’s technical area?
Heh, Ollie, well, it’s just semi-cheesy in the stadium. On a web stream it’s just horrible. Oh well, if that’s the only thing I have to complain about during a game, we’re quite well off I’d say.
Frimpong on!
Ha Ollie! Touche! *drops sword and runs*
Heh, abb, cest la vie. As they say in France. Or Monaco.
AOC, Le COQ and OG off. The Morrocan on.
Chamakh in for OG..wouldnt mind if he got on the scoresheet too, still have soft spot for him.
Feo!
Pair of pears I especially like the way he is able to win almost all of our goal kicks which is something the team had missed for years, despite not having scored prior to today his movement on the pitch has been magnificent and has contributed to others scoring
Shame no Eisfeld, but I’d be very happy with a goal for Chamakh 🙂
Hey Toby! Theo scores!?
You are in luck then Scruz, since Newcastle comeback is ON! 2-1.
Oh and 4-0. Lovely. Theo.
Feo! 🙂
Theo for 4!
Me too Eandy. Agree Wind. Want them all to have a chance.
So we’ve invested four goals in this competition. Maybe we’re taking it seriously. 😉
Abb she is one of the lucky ones attending the game tonight,I wish I could change places with her, not thag you guys havent been good company 🙂
city get a good consolation…ugh.
78 minutes in. 4-0 up and I hear the commentator going “XXX is under pressure from Arshavin” Aww, bless the little owl.
Oh, and there goes the clean sheet. 4-1.
My Emirates debut tonight …
https://twitter.com/OsmanZtheGooner/status/251050629626208256/photo/1/large
miqueeel!:)
5-1. Ignasi!
Coventry scores consolation goal. We’re taking our chances, got a corner, taken by AA. Miquel scores!
don’t kid yourself, it’s definitely “come on, newcastle!” 🙂
5-1 from miquel header! well done, lad.
4-1, Callum Ball.
haha Wolfie
5-1! Wow 😀
Mano!
so, what, about 10 minutes left?
The Joy Of Six, anyone?
gnabry almost…
So the game isn’t live, no stream, and we still manage to see people posting ‘4-1’ after ‘5-1’. Magic!
Amazing Miquel could concentrate well enough to score while Wolfgang was invading the pitch. Good job distracting the Coventry players though, Wolfie. 🙂
337 get on with the times Wind :0
ollie, the magic of “radio”…thanks, mr. tesla.
theo…cannot finish, out to chamakh, over the bar by angha. havoc in the box!
Come on lads!!! Man sounds like one terrific effort by our lads!
Who’s ‘Havoc’ ?
Last two goals assisted by Nico Yennaris, the new Cazorla(?)
he’s a new youngster, apparently. he causes all sorts of problems, makes people cry and let loose the dogs of war, he’s a full boat…
Isn’t Havoc Bevins’ cousin?
toby, i think it’s havoc goram, not sure if it’s bevin’s cousin.
Missing this one, someone post the links to the highlights, wud appreciate it.
oi gimme a break people, I had amended it within 30 seconds at the max alright? 🙂 And my stream keeps slowing down and stacking up time, keep on going behind 🙁
wind, wind, wind. a craftsman such as yourself should *never* blame his tool… 🙂
Another sibling for me, scruz?
6-1 Bevin!
theoo:)
6-1! Theo x2!
brace for theo! for abb, the joy of six, “absolutely brilliant goal” from theo…
115, Uncle Charlie. Hope you backed your hunch?
Oh no, it’s 6-1 as I type.
Unlucky.
Theo scores, THE JOY OF SIX!!!
Sixth? I just love how our goals against has gone down this season, may it long continue.
baaaaa…
Fair enough Scruz haha :p
There must be a delay across the pond!
heh, ‘holic 363.
Feo Feo
I love us scoring loads of goals in games I don’t see. Since most of the time I never see the entire game if I miss it first time and there is nothing more boring than an almost empty highlight reel. Therefore, I always try to miss the high scoring ones so I get loads to look at when I watch the goals the day after.
“martinez is dominant”…easy, wolfie.
yes!yes!yes!did someone say joy of six earlier,it has gone all quiet upstairs, can someone tell me how the goadies are doing?
full time, another 6-1, get in lads!
Full-Time: Arsenal 6-1 Coventry City 🙂
Right, this is a bit of a gamble. I’m in a bloody good mood now. Switching to the Liverpool game. Might end up in joy or might make a little dent in an already good evening. But I’m doing it. I need to watch SOME football.
ABB you oracle octopus you! U n holic are gonna have a sit down, we wana how much chelsea’s gonna suffer
someone pointed out on the soccernet live chat that both chel$ki and arsenal scored 6 in the cc…could be a lot of goals in the game saturday!
sorry, the COC, not the CC.
Props abb, called it 17 mins ago 🙂
Did Coq do well in the Coc then?
back to work lads and ladesses, have a most excellent afternoon/evening/morning, whatever it is where you reside. party on!
lol @ ollie…
Kenyan, Hi there mate. Holic is worried about Chelsea (I think). Not me said the flea, not I said the fly 🙂
Bye scruz.
Hey holics, so enjoyed everyone’s company, you all are the best of the best!!!
WS@332: socks? Oh dear…
Theo now has quite an impressive ratio of goals scored divided by minutes played …
Dodged the bullet there with the Liverpool game. Going to bed now, long day tomorrow! Cheers for the company everyone, I fully agree with abb on that note!
Did we win??
My Job is really getting in the way.
When will player show it? Today or not til tomorrow?
I watched the Betis-Atl. Madrid game tonight, during listening our game on the radio.
J. Campbell came as a sub for Betis on 69 min., got a yellow on 72 and a red on 78 minute. Arsene himself said that signing him was a big gamble. From what I just saw I can understand why.
NorCal, Tomorrow. Long wait. Hey Toby. 8ball, you are amazing, so quick on your feet 🙂
Apparently Lurky an Atletico Player handled the ball upwards and it hit Campbell on the arm, resulting in his Red Card, Is this not true 😕
Hi back at u nursie,
those links comin or not?
Abb 386 hear hear! It is almost midnight this part of the globe so I am going to call it a night, thanks again everyone for the updates and goodnight
Lofts a high ball for Giroud. Good thing he’s out there considering the waywardness of my balls.
Return ball, anyone?
Retrieves the ball, jinks past a defender..
Very Goodnight FirstLady, it was fun.
Jenkinson-esque cross to bt8b…
And again its ended up in the back of the net instead! Thanks abb 😉
Hey, laughing. Nice one Wind.
Wind, it was unfair red card, but I was disappointed as I was looking forward to see him play, and he played only for 10 minutes before being sent off. Shame.
Reading away in the next round.
Chelsea v Man Utd – ha!
Old school finish at 400 btw:)
Besides his goal, AA had 3 assists. This will be a treat for us all, when we finally can see it.
Fair enough Lurky, I can understand the frustration. & thanks for the compliment on the finish heh heh, you too abb 🙂
Reading vs Arsenal? Guess I’m not going to that 4th Round game *grumbles* 🙁
Only an hour to wait for us UK lot for the 11:15 pm League Cup Show.
Apparently the goals have been showing on SSN for sometime, highlights of our game/goals should be up fairly soon abb.
Reading for us while Chelsea plays Manu
Wind – what channel is League Cup Show on?
Just saw the goals on SSN.
Theo’s second (our sixth) is a beauty.
Ox with an absolute SCREAMER!
a brace by walcott,a motm performance by arshavin…..next round,a world class shift from squillaci, these are interesting times for us
’twas a pleasure reading the tea leaves with all you wonderful drinkers. Reading away could be a little tricky but with any luck we could go through. Come on Arsenal in the League Cup. 🙂
Looking forward to watching the game. Sounds like it was entertaining.
Also gotta love this Bar. Over 400 drinks on a post about a third round corporate cup game.
Cheers everyone. Hope the drinks and results keep flowing.
Hey Norcal, I tried YouTube to see our goals but it’s all bogus stuff posted. Did see the Tunnel Cam between Citeh and us. Very entertaining. Hope your schedule is lighter tomorrow so you can enjoy the game.
Not great footage…but some nice goals. Looks like Walcott was looking to prove a point, that being that he’d be amazing in League One (?). I jest
http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/arsenal-6-coventry-1-capital-one-cup-september-26-2012/
Thanks ABB. I’m afraid I’m on call again tomorrow. But I’ll bring my iPad and hope to get a free moment to watch.
Sounds like the second half we came alive. Good for theo to take the ball and run ( and score) with it. He is a better finisher than Gerv but not as good and dribbler. Let’s hope Theo can blister Chelsea again this year.
If you want just the goals arsabeatbarca, here it goes: http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/arsenal-6-coventry-1-capital-one-cup-september-26-2012/
It`s only a 1 minute video.
Seems I need to learn to remember to refresh before posting 🙂
Thank you drinkers 🙂 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Samurai Jack, Hey thanks! The goals are fantastic. NorCal, interesting theory…just want the best out of both, as we all do. Plenty of potential in their boots.
